OC, probably not. DC however, I’m listening. He would be on my list to interview as either a OC or DC candidate.

DC for sure.
Yes SIR, I hear yaz but my thinking also is he’s been through t the whole mill-yard in the NFL. Might be able to take advantage of some of that. Maybe an assistant head coach or game manager ?

Now wait. Jack Del Rio...the DC of a defense that has given up over 30 points in 7 out of 12 games his year...some of you would interview him for a job here? How the hell is he any better the Teryl Austin?
Holy shiiit. The grass isn't always greener...
I know. DK made a good point to me. Hire a young and upcoming coach. Maybe the guy won't be here long term. So what? The Steelers hire OCs and DCs that might be around a bit because the aren't in high demand...and we are seeing the results. Del Rio falls in that category to me.I didn’t say I’d hire him, I interview him because that’s how you find out what’s out there. Kind of like kicking the tires on an old Vet player, you gotta kick the tires to find out.

Yeah. The other day he advanced the theory that the Steelers hire guys who will be around awhile. Usually they are older, experienced coaches they don't have to worry about leaving for a HC job. The evidence we seem seems to suggest that. I would argue Del Rio would fall into that category. His chances at a HC job might be less than you or me at this point.I listen to DK a lot, missed him this morning due to busy. Was it Steelers Daily Shot ?

I also said I would listen to Del Rio as a DC. The personnel on the Commanders defense is ok. He would be on a list of mine to interview. As a matter of fact, I think the Commanders may be having a coaching fire sale at the end of the season. I would put tabs on Bienemy as well as consider interviewing Rivera as well. You can't say this is a results oriented situation when wanting to fire Canada or Tomlin but then ignore the results of someone like Del Rio.
Are we going to hire coordinators based on who's buddies with Shades and who gave his son a scholarship?I’m not saying HIRE him, but bring him in because it would help get a feel as to the ability out there. I think we need both OC & DC at end of season. I also think Art2 has said in a more serious tone as to who is in charge and how we are going to hire future cordinators.

But its the same thing that has been going on. Retreads. Safe hires that will probably around a while...no threat for a HC job (no threat to Tomlin for that matter). I think we have seen the results of this. I hope they try something different.in his defense, they did trade away their 2 best pass rushers. He doesn’t have much to work with.

Talk about click bait. I was going to start a thread "Big Ben Confirmed as the new Steelers OC.!!
