Steelers activate Gilbert; release Harrison
Posted 4 minutes ago

The Steelers have activated Marcus Gilbert and released James Harrison.
The Steelers activated offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert from the Reserve/Suspended by Commissioner List to the active roster, it was announced today.

To make room on the roster, the Steelers released linebacker James Harrison. Harrison, the team’s all-time sack leader with 80.5, originally signed with the Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 22, 2002. He’s started 107-of-177 regular-season games played for Pittsburgh (117-of-192 in his NFL career).

Well that sucks.

Stupid move. We have the waster of space McCullers and the big nobody Filer still on the team and neither dresses. Harrison can still play at an NFL level if needed nether of these two stiffs can.

All things must pass. The series he was in for Baltimore he didn’t look like he used to. It’s probably the best thing for both parties at this point.

Why. Thought we were saving him for the playoffs

Tomlin and Harrison were not getting along

Gee, I wonder why...Harrison only played 40 snaps in 14 games.

Really hope this doesn't turn into another Blount-like mistake.

Wow can't believe this. I just got my brother a James jersey for Christmas. It's a sad day...

After the bears game where we were gashed, Harrison said he could set the edge when he is 60. Tomlin responded in his pressed not to his comment but rather it wasn't the lb play. Cross Tomlin you're out. Everyone knows our spotty lb play is the issue with the run d. Harrison absolutely could have helped. Play him in rushing situations or blitz.

Don't be surprised if Ravens pick him up.. just watch.

I have very little doubt that the Cheatriots will come calling for him. Their D is their weak link. He couldn't hurt for a playoff run.

Caught up with James Harrison's agent, Bill Parise, who said release was amicable. They understood roster dynamics, or was well-known Harrison wanted to be more involved in the defense and wants to continue playing. "We'll see what Santa brings us," Parise said
