James Harrison Released

Well this just blows chunks!

Harrison is one of my all-time favorite Steelers and yes that's including our 70's Steelers.

I honestly think Deebo's skills rotted sitting on our bench. He certainly won't us the game vs the Chiefs in week 7. His play on the final Chiefs drive of the gave us the win.

I will be really sick to my stomach if the Cheats sign Harrison for the playoffs. That would be the Ultimate Slap in the Face to the Steelers and our fans if DEEBO somehow helps the Cheats win it all.

Welp. Hope Villanueva manages to hold his own against him in obvious passing downs if/when we see him in the postseason

Thanks for all the great memories, James

Dupree has been assigned to cover TEs a ton this season, so there's no way he could play for Dupree.
I do think this is a mistake and there should be a way to use him as a pass rusher, he's still our best pure pass rusher amongst LBs.
And yes, he'll end up in NE, they have alot if injuries in their LBs and they aren't good defensively, and they'd love to rub that in our face

Harrison may still have pass rushing moves but he's lost his speed and can't cover anymore, and offenses would just take advantage of that. And if he goes to NE and we play them Ben and Bell would have a field day knowing he can't cover when he's on the field. Sad to see him go but it was the correct roster move.

pretty much I was thinking. I love Deebo and will go down as one of the greatest Steelers ever. It would pain me to see him in a different uniform, but if this was 4 or 5 years ago, I would be scared what he could still do. Right now, I doubt how much he has left to make a real impact. I trust the coaching staff that they know what they're doing. They see him everyday in practice. We don't. It's still a sad day in Pittsburgh.

Still can’t believe that his experience and locker room leadership doesn’t make him more valuable Than at least one other roster guy. Unless the lack of playing time was causing him to be a locker room cancer.

All the "It's just business" is BULLSHIT. There is no reason you don't cut someone else and let him ride out the season, and let him "Retire". All you used to hear was the Steelers were a "Family" Since the new Schmuck has been running the team they have **** canned that idea. You just don't do that to someone in his position.

A good Coach would be able to use Harrison's skill set to help the team, too bad we don't have Good Coaches

After the bears game where we were gashed, Harrison said he could set the edge when he is 60. Tomlin responded in his pressed not to his comment but rather it wasn't the lb play. Cross Tomlin you're out. Everyone knows our spotty lb play is the issue with the run d. Harrison absolutely could have helped. Play him in rushing situations or blitz.

Its possible that Tomlin is too proud to admit he's wrong. He's not head coach material if that is true.

That's why I think there is more to this than just needing the roster spot. Either personal conflicts or maybe James initiated it. Play me or release me so I can play somewhere else. He's made no secret of the fact that he's not happy riding the bench so he may not have wanted to ride out the season.

Oh and this sucks. I'm having Harris and Woodson flashbacks. What a disrespectful move for such an instrumental force on the team. That's it for me, if this bears out to be on him he's dead to me. It could be a long *** wait for his replacement. I don't know if I still have it in me.

It was time,

The reality is though.....he probably would have made a better running back than that jamoke we got from Wendy's.

Stupid stupid move. No point in letting that man go now. If he ends up on a team we play in the playoffs im going to lose it. Anybody but the pats****or rats. Don't tell me that guy couldn't contribute in the pass rush....ugh. what a ****** football week.

Im wondering if his "illness" was related to the release. As in all parties knew he was going to be released and they didnt want him injured at practice.

Better get ready for the Pats. Not a lot of teams make sense. Has to be a playoff team with a pass rush need that uses very specific roles. No one else fits the bill. Which is why this has to be the stupidest move ever. Why give tgem a piece. If he is a pain in the *** tell him to stay home.

Harrison isnt able to cover anyone. The Steelers are dropping Watt and Dupree isn't coverage so much that they can't play Harrison.

Personally I believe he shouldn't of been running his mouth to the media about his playing time when we're 11-3.

While I agree I'd rather have cut McCullers, but Harrison being gone isn't exactly a loss. Who knows, maybe he comes back before it's over.

Agree 100% with this.

I'm not shocked. As others have said you can't have him in there much when the OLB's are covering downfield 60 or 70 percent of the time. You just can't. Steeler fans are more in love with what James has meant to the team over the years rather than who he is as a player in 2017. I think James' patience boiled over within the past couple wees about his lack of playing time when he made that statement to the media. I don't really blame him, the guy is a competitor. I think he voiced his displeasure to Tomlin and Tomlin said "James do you want to stay or do you want released?" I kinda feel like James made the call on this one.

Harrison should have been in there against New England. When we went man to man, the rush was taking too long to get there. I don't see anyone blocking Harrison that long...
