James Harrison Released

Jeremy Fowler
ESPN Staff Writer

Caught up with James Harrison's agent, Bill Parise, who said release was amicable. They understood roster dynamics, or was well-known Harrison wanted to be more involved in the defense and wants to continue playing. "We'll see what Santa brings us," Parise said

If he goes to patriots I will be so ******* pissed. More so at Steelers than James.

Pats or Ravens pick him up, I agree

WTF are they doing????

Deebo no !

well damn

Not surprised! Been asking the question for months now. Why in the hell was he signed to begin with to a two year deal and then he doesn’t play ever. Oh yeah, 40 snaps! ******* Tomlin!

Agree. Why bother signing him if you were never going to use him this year when it made sense or when he was needed in certain situations.

The Steelers way if doing business needs to be handled by ROONEY himself. There’s no way you don’t ask questions when your front office and head coach decide to release your FRANCHISE SACK LEADER out of thin air.

I would have preferred big dud, but Deebo probably was complaining about his playing time.

Which caused the mutual split.

James Harrison's agent William Parise on the #Steelers LB's release: "There was no animosity or bad feelings. It's just the business of the NFL. I believe he still wants to play. We'll have to wait and see what happens with waivers."

The coverage liability has to be the issue to his non playing time. (my speculation) Doesn't mean I don't think it's a ****** thing to do,, to keep the guy on the roster all season,, (to what ends?) and then release him after 14 games. Especially when there are other tards that could be let go.

Why cant steelers find a creative way to use Harrison. Maybe on the DL. As a rusher in the nickel / dime.. etc. No coverage responsibilities. James Harrison will get as much of a rush / push and pressure as a Lineman and he can set an edge and make stops.

Doesn't sound like a mutual split.

I thought Big Dan would be the one to go.

I'm sure they did run it by Rooney.

A) Harrison was an insurance policy. No claims were necessary all season so the Steelers dropped the policy.

B) The defensive scheme involves our OLBS playing man 2 man and playing zone areas btwn 40-60% on passing plays. Harrison doesn't have that talent and would be exploited.

C) just like Ward, Polomalu, and others it's always tough for the fan base to move forward. But we need to trust the process.

D) Our DE are getting the QB pressures and sacks now. Adjust fanbase!

Appreciate your service Deebo

I'd take him in over Bud Dupre right now. Bud is irrelevant in the run defense and nowhere to be found in pass defense. He gets a sack once every 300 snaps.

Not a fan of this move.

There had to be a better player to release just based on what Deebo has done for the Steeler organization.

Nothing I can say that hasn't already been said.

Thank you for being a great Steeler #92 you left it all out on the field!

Unfreakingbelievable! He should've been playing over Dupree. Why did we bother even bringing him back this year. You know damn well he'll be either a Raven or Pat, and will be pissed off. Incredibly stupid move!

Maybe James wanted to be at home with his family on Christmas instead of in Houston for a game he wouldn't play in?

Seriously.

If he isn't claimed and re-signed Monday night.

There had to be more expendable roster players. McCullars for sure. Gravedigger, Aloualu ahead. Im far more afraid of what James Harrison may do against this team in a one game playoff than Dan ****** McCullers. Unbelievable Mike.
