Jarvis Jones IS A BUST

One thing I have noticed is Porter and especially Gildon got a lot of free runs at the QB and a ton of mismatches on the TE and RB and those to me were always scheme sacks. The QB didn't know where the blitz was coming from so we'd have a mismatch and bam sack. Lately I have noticed we rarely if ever get those free runs at the QB and the only time a TE seems to get matched on an OLB is if it's a run or quick pass. I think with the new style of QB and the cognitive ability to spot the blitz and change the blocking and play at the line has really taken a toll on Dicks defense. I love LeBeau but part of me is thinking his zone blitz scheme needs to be updated if not completely overhauled.

I have no problem changing schemes. However even with a new scheme you need the players to carry it out. If Jones can't beat a TE then there isn't much a DC can do. Teams are passing more and getting free runs at the QB is difficult to impossible to scheme.

Haggans was a 5 second forty guy and he developed into a pretty good pass rusher. I know Haggans was like a 5th round pick and JJ was a first but my point is physically they are similar so maybe with some coaching and playing time JJ can turn into that caliber of player. I am trying to stay positive here people!

I would have taken Jarvis in the 5th, or anywhere after round 3. That is where his talent level says he should have gone. In my opinion, of course.

I really do want Jarvis to turn into an awesome player but I just dont see the physical skills or the potential to develop them. Time will tell. If he is at 8-10 sacks this year then all will be well. A couple of sacks here and there are not going to warrant his draft position.

I agree we reached on the pick. Didn't like it then and don't like it anymore now. It is absolutely crazy how different this draft was than last years. To be 100% honest Shamarko Thomas was the ONLY draft pick I liked in 2013 but in 2014 we went for speed and talent and I liked pretty much every pick. I would have went different ways on a couple of players but all in all a great draft so I am hoping 2014 draft class can make up for 2013.

We'll see how he does. But even the sack amounts are irrelevant unless he proves he can beat someone to get them. Just tapping a QB on the head after he slides isn't enough. In the 3-4 you need pass rushing OLBs who can take on blocks and either get to the QB or stop the run. Jones needs to prove he can be the guy.

This is actually pretty funny. I have looked at JJ on certain plays but never for the entire game. I will say playing against Peters you might find most DE's and OLB's struggle but your observations were comical especially when a TE pushes him back. I am not ready to label him a "bust" but the most I am hoping for is a solid starter he can develope into over the season. Never going to be a 12 sack OLB I know that and can live with that. But if he can be a Clark Haggans and get pressure and between 5-8 sacks a season I will be happy.

I would not be happy with a player of Clark Haggans capabilities in the first round. This guy has a long ways to go to get to Haggans level of play. The issue is not the scheme but the folks that are supposed to execute the scheme. This guy just might make archer look good in pass protection in practice. I have my doubts about his ability to get a sack at Walmart!

Okay let's make up our minds. Is he a bust or not?

He's a bust. Oh wait, no he's not.

Now if he could only play against 4 preseason game comp his whole career he might not be. Unfortunately that won't be the case he is a hat and will end his career as one

Hard to point a finger at anyone player when there were many out there last night that deserved to be out the door.

I still think it's too early to label Jarvis a bust. The player that a lot of Steelers fans had a man crush on last season Tyler Eifert didn't
exactly light it up last season. His numbers last season were 39 receptions for 445 yds and 2 TD's. It's even too early to label him
a bust.

That's actually one of the better rookie TE seasons in recent history, especially considering Eifert was blocked by a longtime starter.

Those stats seem to be better than one sack...

I like boobs...

Man or woman? Personally I'm the latter lover :)

Pictures are worth ONE THOUSAND words...

If pic is good enough, then add some drooool !!!

Weather Jarvis is a bust or not doesn't change the fact he is starting. I think it's a little early yet for any labels. From game 1 to game 4, you'll see changes in his play *** opposed to games 5 through 10. Its called experience and hopefully he betters with it.

Salute the nation

The only difference between jones and Sam is jones sucks dick on the field

I think I have finally figured out MT's reasoning for the Jones pick, Jarvis that is, not laundry. After all the fines levied on Harrison and Clark as well as others for hitting too hard they figured a few years of non contact pass rushers would get rid of the brutal label applied to the steelers. So he really is on a path of betterment to the team by making them soft as marshmallows and not having any big hits applied to the other teams. Yeah that's what he is doing.

That's only an average of 2 to 3 catches a game. Gresham missed 2 games with an injury and Eifert did nothing those games. I had Eifert on my fantasy league team last year and some games he had only 2 catches. He only had 2 td's all season. I'm saying if he was supposed to be this difference maker that people were saying he didn't fare much better. Now he could become a beast this year. Who knows

What I'm saying is that rookie TEs never make an impact. 39 catches as a rookie is a pretty big deal, and compared to Jarvis' one sack, it's like comparing Randy Moss' rookie year to Bruce Davis'.

LMAO Hyperbole much? Rivera from the Raiders had one less reception and two more TD's and was a 6th round pick, does that make him all pro?
