I read something the other day that someone said that made so much sense during the Tomlin era.
“The Steelers are never good enough to win anything but just good enough to ruin our position in the draft”.
Man let that resonate for a minute. That’s exactly who they are year in and year out under this regime.
This current version hell any version each year can be categorized as such, What we have here is “fools gold” every year. We”re all lead to believe each year that this year will be different but it’s always the same.
What I do know is that Tomlin it appears will leave this organization without a franchise QB when his contract expires in 2027 if he chooses to leave then and that’s a far cry from what he inherited in 2007.
Three years down the road TJ will be at his end, as will Minkah, and Cam will be doing podcasts full time. Idk, like I’ve said before, I think he’s a good coach but he’s not anywhere near being a great coach and I do think this organization needs a major overhaul.
Your not going to win anything with an old Russ or a never ending project like Justin. You’re just not! Are they better than the three headed monster Tomlin previously assembled with Pickett, Trubisky, and Mason? Of course but that’s a low bar to hurdle just like Arthur Smith was with Canada.
The organization is dillusional thinking they had a window to win when all they had were some aging pieces on defense.
Too many bad drafts caught up as well. The Devin Bush move trading up to get him, drafting Najee in the first was a bad move, drafting Kenny in the first was a bad move, drafting Terrell Edmunds in the first and passing over Lamar Jackson was a moronic move, and there are second round picks that were bad. How much influence did Tomlin have on those moves? We’ll never know for sure but it’s said he’s got a lot of stroke in the draft.
Look, it’s just not working and imo the organization needs a hard reset and so does Tomlin.
He’d probably do himself more good going to a team like Washington where he has a young QB and team to work with. This ain’t working!
