Kicker Josh Scobee traded to STEELERS!

16-0 *******!!!!! Woo hoo!!!!! That put us over the hump! Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!

Well, we wasted a 3rd pick last year on a midget and a 4th the year before on a ****** QB, so I guess giving up a 4th for a proven kicker might actually not be a bad thing.

There is no way we gave up anything more than a 7th rounder, right?

They offered Jarvis Jones and Dri Archer both but the Jags said no.

Jags fans...ha ha

NOOOOO!

This is a terrible move.

Myers is 24-38 in his college career with career long of 49. Was he really that good in preseason?

If we have a game on the line down by 2 with 3 seconds on the clock, why in the world wouldn't we want a veteran kicker to go win the game for us??

Bad bad move. This sucks

Hope it wasn't for a 6th or a 7th. Steelers get a fantastic kicker

the nfl is paying jags off to be a loseing team so they can move them to london. why else would you get rid of one of your best players on the team for the last serveal years.

Two sides of the coin...

Everyone in the office today, who I normally talk football with, don't seem bothered. Like I said, I've been to see the new kid and he's better than Scobee, IMO.

Sounds like you let the Jags fans turn you into one of them - I bet you're wearing a Jags jersey at work right now, aren't you?

How bad was Hartley's injury? Was he going to miss more than a couple games? I would have felt better getting someone to fill instead of losing draft picks for a one-year kicker. Yes it is important to have a good kicker and they are figuring on contenting for a playoff spot this year but still. It seems dumb if Hartley could have come back by week 3 or so. Hartley was looking pretty good to me

Maybe they gave them Jarvis Jones and Cortez Allen LOL

Scobee could be a long term replacement for sushi. he is the same age. he played behind some really bad lines in jacksonville. he has a really strong leg and has been a really good field goal kicker from inside the 40, and an above average one from longer. id trust him more than a rehabbed sushi...

Didn't he just sign a long term deal though? Wouldn't that be bad cap-wise?

Last year of Scobee's contract. I bet the renegotiated with him. No way do we pay that $$$ for one year of Scobee.

So what is the negotiating leverage for the Steelers. We want you to take less money for this year so that you won't be a UFA and get as much money as you can next year. Seems like a pretty weak negotiating point

Not unless there is an extension. If that's the case then we've seen the last of Suisham.

The jags probably converted the majority of his salary into a bonus(which they eat) and we're only paying him minimum/near the minimum. They've done it in the past

That's the only thing I can think of. No way do we pay all of that $$$

I see sushi as being gone. They'll negotiate an injury settlement and a see yaz out the door.... Scobee is coming in and passing a physical, doing a try out to see what yaz got thingy. Then the negotiating willo begin. I'm sure the initial negotiation is what it took for the trade, but the STEELERS and scobee both know there will be renegotiation coming. Scobee kmew he wasn't making the cut more than likely. Wanted to play for a winner, WHooaLa here he is. This all based on months and months of detective work.

Who else is left in case he goes down in the final preseason game...lol

There will be no kicking allowed in the preseason finale, not even for kickoffs. We'll get someone to roll the ball like its bowling on kickoffs:wink-new:

Rumor has it, Ben Rothlisbergher has been practicing the "famed" drop kick version, of field goals. I would think in a two piont conversion attempt, that might actually be leagal. Save it for when its a real need, just to styretch the rules a little.......... now that the che*triots aren't cheating anymore..........

Great move! Kevin Colbert showing yet again he's at the top of his game. Nice to see a tried and tested veteran locked up to handle kicking duties.

??? We could have waited for Scobee to be cut and saved a draft pick, or signed Jay Feeley who did not miss a kick in the try outs. Now we lost a draft pick.

Scobee was below average last year, and played in an easy warm weathered stadium to kick. Yes he's solid but as Harley showed solid can be found for cheap at the kicker spot.

The Steelers have how much cap space now assigned to kickers?

That was the proverbial coffee-spitting on the keyboard right there. Well done.

Josh Scobee is restructuring his contract. The Steelers are not signing him for $3.4 million that he made in Jacksonville.

Very complicated. Suisham was just signed I beleive, so unless they are getting rid of him and not eating guaranteed money, that will still be there. Scobbee is only going to restructure for a long term. He'd be a fool not to take his 3.4 million and be UFA next year. Any confirmation on what they gave Jax?

Nope but there are non steelernation allowed sources that confirm he is reworking his deal.. And if nothing else having a kicker who can kick it out of the end zone regularly is way better than an older guy or an unproven guy who cost us no assets
