**** that game that was the game the refs decided to not call holding on Gerrad QB run. At least three Steelers were blatantly held.
That's awesome. Wasn't necessarily a fan of the trade, but a fan of the player. Renegade at a meaningful moment in a meaningful game is something special. I definitely won't worry when he trots onto the field.

Why does everyone say this? No. There's only 53 roster spots, not as many as you want, and I certainly can't find any logic in keeping 2 kickers, especially one that doesn't do **** except kick offs. That's as big of a waste of a roster spot as Archer is taking up.

in this day and age letting teams return kickoffs is absurd... last year we almost never put one out of the end zone. Kickoff rules changed in 2011... in 2010 the leader in touchbacks was Baltimore at 46%... we were at just under 9% the league average in the mid 20% the year before we had a pathetic 3% rate.... after the rule change everyone's numbers leaped up... the league leaders went from under 50% to between 60 and 75% in 2011 to now... our numbers with Suishum went from single digits to 30-40%, still annually among the worse teams. this caused tons of great returns that should have never been.
This year our kickoff touchback numbers leaped to over 60%. the majority of actual returns were tackled behind the 20 or within a few yards of the 20. its been a huge swing in field position, not because of coverage, because they have had the time to get down there and get holes plugged before the runner hits them....
there is zero reason to carry a kickoff returner... less then 20% are actually returnable, most returns should be taken as touchbacks, returners just get fed up and bring them out regardless. There is a huge reason to make sure whoever is kicking off for you can blast most out of the end zone... you can be talking about a lot more points for the other team than one will ever miss in field goals, and also momentum killer returns after big scores.... I think a team that willfully ignores kickoff position like the steelers do is absolutely stupid in this day and age... its not like the 90's and 00's when most kicks were returnable anyhow so it didn't matter... you are surrendering a HUGE advantage by carrying only a kicker who can make field goals but not give you a return advantage... unless, of course, the punter can boot them deep on the kickoff...
He, Scobee, is worth a 6th rounder. Period.
