Let’s be realistic for a minute.

I'm in a good place with it all because I know what their ceiling is. Mediocrity. Nothing will change, not this year or next year. It doesn't really matter who they draft. They're fatally flawed in schematics, preparation and most of all, coaching!

There's a very large body of work over many years that confirms that.

I think the Rooney's want Tomlin to pass Noll and the 200 win mark. With 3 more years plus a game to go he just might do it. If not. They can always extend him a few more seasons. What what a magical number 200 would be for Tomlin. Only a few have reached that plateau.

Tomlin is at 183 wins

He is 12th all time.

Above him are:
1. Don Shula (328) retired at (65)
2. George Halas (318) retired at (72)
3. Bill Belicheat (302) retired at (71)
4. Andy Reid (273) active (66)
5. Tom Landry (250) retired at (64)
6. Curly Lambeau (226) retired at (55)
7. Paul Brown (213) retired at (67)
8. Marty Schottenheimer (200) retired at (63)
9. Chuck Noll (193) retired at (59)
10. Dan Reeves (190) retired at (59)
11. Chuck Knox (186) retired at (63)

He is only behind Andy Reid on the Active list..
But he also is only 52 years old...
behind him are:
Mike McCarthy (174) age (61)
John Harbaugh (171) age (61)
Sean Payton (169) age (61)

Then a huge gap to Sean McDermott (86) age (50)

In theory, if tomlin could average 9.5 wins per year and coached till he was 67, Tomlin could break Shulas record... but Id guess without substantial playoff success in the next 3 years he would move on elsewhere...

For perspective, he's 25th all time on the list of playoff wins for NFL Head Coaches.

For perspective, he's 25th all time on the list of playoff wins for NFL Head Coaches.
For even more perspective, Tomlin is 10th all time for playoff losses by an NFL head coach.
He is 25th in playoff wins, but he is tied for 11th in playoff losses

Neither of those are as unbecoming as they seem to be... 2 more wins and hed be tied for 16th... 3 would tie him for 11th, and 4 puts him in the top 10... its a very average number for his 17 years coaching...

As for the losses, he has one more than Cowher ...
he is tied with Dungy .... the coaches ahead of him who have super bowl wins either are or will be in he HOF...

If you want to disparage him, use playoff win %... he is 65th in that... of the top 25 coaches in all time wins, only two have a worse playoff win %

I totally agree with you here. I’ve thought that for some time. That concerns me that part of this is about what HC has the all time win record. Why the hell should that be important at the expense of building a SB winning culture again. Idk, I suppose we fans get too serious about this stuff.

This team did way better than any of us thought beginning of training camp. If we would have been told ten games won and playoffs we would have all gone out and got the birthday cake. Look how many young players we have played. We have a receiving crew that is not consistent or can get open. The secondary looks lost way too many times. Be happy we are where we are, not a great team, good at best.

The problem remains we’re not ever close to building a true SB contending team. It’s always the same result year after year. Thirty one other owners would have run out of patience by now.
Most of us are simply tired of the same old same old.

With Roethlisberger one of the most physically gifted QBs who was built for the AFCN.

This season has been a success.

You love complaining.

There aren't 31 other owners

Of course, I would have known that without looking, and that # (playoff WINs) is not going to to go up much. Who wants to bet?

A slim notch better than just "OK." And unless a young Big Ben falls into our laps, that the best Tomlin can do.

The Steelers finished 10-7 last season with a QB incapable of throwing touchdowns and playing most of the season with the worst OC in the NFL. While they downgraded at receiver, they upgraded at QB, OC, added Frazier to the OL, Queen and Elliott to the defense. The expectation was a better team than last year, not the same team.

I predicted 11-6
Still not there

Not better than any of us thought
And there were many right there with me

Having an upgraded QB and OC situation I think the majority expected improvement from last years 10-7 record.

Just a couple media dumbasses that pegged us as bottom feeders cuz they know doing that will get clicks

It depends on the perspective you take on it.

In terms of scoring offense, the Steelers have improved from 28th to 14th in the league, though the last few games have looked a lot like the prior few seasons in that regard

Though it's still not good enough with them fading into the playoffs, I do think they made "some" progress from last season, as I honestly have no idea how they won 10 games in 2023.

It pretty much took Rudolph coming off the bench and playing out of his mind the last month of the season to make it possible.

I seriously don't think media people picked us to be last for clicks, I think they believed it. And to be honest, it wasn't such a stretch to believe that could happen. The Browns looked like up and comers after 2023, playoff team, #1 defense. But the Browns went Browns and everything turned to s--t like always. And Cinci, despite al their problems are right there for a playoff run, Burrow is special. If you took a snapshot of where Pgh and Cinci is the last month, Cinci seems better. Balt, destroyed us last game. So, all and all, picking Pgh to finish last wasn't so absurd. We got hot and lucky the 1st 3 months, then Tomlin happened.

So you are saying Tomlin and team exceeded expectations

While completely true, the defense took a big step back from allowing 17.9 PPG to 22.7 PPG. More importantly, this team is on a collision course with another first-round playoff exit, which is really the bottom line for me.

Not one member of the Tomlin Derangement Syndrome Crew can explain what they want and how the team is supposed to meet their expectations

When I suggested Ben gets traded in 2018, I was laughed at

When I suggest Watt is traded now, people call me crazy

There's one road to the championship as evidenced by the top teams in the league

Trying to piece together a competitive team is a fail. Calling it a rebuild is another fail.

And the longer you delay, the longer you stay right in the middle. Do you want this team to be competitive in 2028?

This franchise needs an implosion, a 4-13 season and multiple first rounders including a QB who can compete with Mahomes, Jackson, and Allen

I think the FO and coaching staff can handle that. If ownership is insisting on annual rebuilds, ownership is the problem

They lost by 14, 17, and 19 and weren't remotely competitive on either side of the ball in any of the three games. Absolutely a meltdown as they were out there looking like a bottom 5 team.
Not going THAT far because we got hit w/ the injury bug on both sides of the ball AND playing 3 of the tops teams in 3 consecutive games on top of those injuries does not add up to kind results.

I'll continue to be optimistic that when we are at full strength - we can beat anyone...

If your QB isn't in the 60's of QBR then you don't have a real shot. Look at Daniels, a rookie at #4. And the Commandes are a playoff team, like magic, after not being anything.

I love the optimism, I've just seen this same story too many times before to believe otherwise.

Cinci has beaten exactly one team with a winning record this season... Denver in OT last week...
The teams they beat are 36-92 on the season...

The only two teams they beat without 12 or more losses are Dallas, whom they only beat because with 2 minutes left in the game, an idiot on dallas touched a blocked punt allowing Cinci to recover and score late.

The denver game Cinci allowed 3/4 of the Broncos possessions in the second half to end with TDs.. the picked off one pass in their own territory after they had fumbled it to the broncos.

They allowed a 70 yard TD drive in a 1:20 to send it to OT... then won with a minute left before a tie in ot...
Cinci is only in the playoff picture because of an extremely easy schedule from a last place finish last year... If Miami or Denver win, they dont make it no matter what the outcome is on Saturday...

We have been the better team than them hands down this season..
