Day One Preview

The theme for opening night of the convention is “Make America Safe Again”. It plays off Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan. The majority of speakers have ties to the military including many veterans. The list of tonight’s speakers include Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Rudy Giuliani and Melania Trump. The night is expected to touch on the recent string of violence that has happened in the States and abroad.

While I am disappointed by Ryan and some has been heavyweights ( Bush, McCain, Romney ) , there is a golden opportunity to bring in new leadership and new voters into the party.

The Republicans should really go after the working to middle-class folks in the convention as the group slide backward on average $5,000.00 a year after taxes.

Hammer this point, and when Donald speaks about taxes, that group which tends to be Democratic will have open ears.

I have a hunch the Pence pick was an establishment choice and not Trump's #1 choice.

No doubt there is an opportunity for the Republican party to morph and support private union workers. The democrats have shown their stripes and are much more worried about public labor unions and those under the "supported by government" umbrella.

This country needs to realize it's separated into two groups: those paid by the government and those not. The Republicans need to get ALL of those not paid by the government regardless of class, income level, color, sexual orientation, whatever and just pound and pound the message that the bigger the government gets, the more WE (the republicans) are paying THEM (the democrats) and unfair share.
