Bud's first sack was a communication mistake by the OL. Fisher was not beaten by Bud. He has a blitzer to the outside. He hands Bud off to the LG but he doesn't pick him up. Fisher then goes after the outside guy. Bud comes in free and clear. This happens a lot in pre-season. Bud did beat Cameron Erving... a guy who couldn't cut it in clownland and was traded to KC for a 5th round pick.

Two years ago Bud would have been invisible in the same situation. Let's hope he goes off this year and then signs a big contract elsewhere because I don't think it'd be sustainable.

I don't think he has been that horrible. He's not worth $9 million a year but he isn't J. Jones bad. He played well last night but the first sack had nothing to do with him. After the LT moved over he had a straight lane to the QB. We will see how he does against starting LTs during the season. But he better bring it so that money isn't wasted.

You guys want to crap on Dupree for taking advantage of the blocking assignments in front of him? He worked well on the line. Did a great job reading and knocking down a screen opportunity. I'm all for him making plays.

Dupree is better than al lot here think he is. Vader has a point of being over paid if BUD plays like 2years ago BUT if he plays very well this year than that $9mil won't look bad at all. If you are judging his pay
Vs. sack, how many sacks will justify his pay???? (Not a good justification but using it for sake of argument). Remember he is used a lot in coverage.

Yeah, as Dale alluded to in the article, I think the most impressive thing to see are his football smarts/instincts on display all of a sudden. It's like the light is finally coming on. Great to see cuz I was a big critic of his. You could tell T.J. was excited about what he did last night as well, he sees it and knows it as well.

One thing's for sure, this really is a tight group of players.

I'm watching the game now, and Dupree looks excellent. Getting pressures, making plays in the run game, defending players downfield. He looks better this year than last year.

Vader's point is spot on for dollar value vs play in the past, but if he continues to play like this $9MM is a steal!

Compared to other edge rushers in the game, it's really not that much.

Leave it to SN for a guy to have 2 sacks, a batted down pass 2 TFL and 3 QB hits in 36 snaps and we get a "yeah, but, that one play.."

That's all he did? Meh.

You're right, he's pretty cheap You want to pay your edge 23.5MM a year? I don't...

For this year' he'd be 23rd on this list. For all time value of his contract, he's 50th. Watt is 60th. Chickillio is 46th and probably on the bubble depending on how Skipper and Gilbert finish up.

It's time for Chickillo to move on with his life's work. With Ola and now Skipper, seems like a no-brainer to me.

Wasn't crapping on him. I just said exactly what happened. I'm not blaming him for getting the sack. I'm just pointing out that he had a clear lane because of a miscommunication.

Bud had a good game and he took advantage of a bad play by KC. Both can be true at the same time.

I'm as happy as hell for the play "as a team" with Watt as happy for Dupree's play as Dupree himself. This TEAM concept it's EXATLY that and team wide with everyone both projected 53 and those who may not make it are all showing "TEAM FIRST" mentality. GottA LOVE it !

Maybe the light has come on, maybe his arrow is now pointing up, perhaps he has realized his pedigree. Perhaps he bought some popcorn and smoke. I just want to see him have a monster year, if you will. I've already lived in my fears regarding Bud and I accept it and acknowledge it because I know this journey is not over, nor has the script been written. Obviously.

Do the Steelers pick up the tab for your travel expenses to and from, between the facility and Frisco TX .... Coach T. ?
