These are via Jeff Hathhorn:

"They got us on a couple of trick plays that really hurt us and got momentum going."

"When we did what we were supposed to do, we kicked their ***. They got us on a couple of trick plays that got momentum going."

--------

Sums up this team perfectly. Always just a couple of plays and otherwise they dominated. Nothing that getting "back to the lab" can't fix. Give me a break. These guys are living in the past when this team used to be good and when they did lose, it was because something unusual went wrong. Mediocrity is the standard now. But I guess that Mitchell believes that misdirection plays and throwing to the tight end are "trick plays." I saw a lot of things today, but the Steelers kicking the Browns *** was not one of them.

He is high as a kite! I sat and explained to my wife last nite about the Browns running mis direction plays and rolling out Hoyer, etc. They did this in the second half of week 1.
I have watched them all season do the exact same thing. I knew they were going to do this to them and I am a old, overweight construction worker who never played past the high school level.

WTF is he talking about? Mis direction? Run the damn tape from week one and its the same exact thing as today.

They knew Steelers would over pursue and aren't discipline enough to stay home. especially once they get them in the hurry up.

SMH, this team is lost.

Is he a Steeler?

I completely agree, on the majority of plays we kicked their *****. On both offense and defense, unfortunately when they get huge gains, or score, on the other plays, it doesn't matter.

Joe

What a punk *** coward. Loud mouth **** talker that got knocked out. They just continue to make themselves look like idiots...

This team is delusional, first Tomlin quotes and now Mitchell. We haven't kicked anyone's *** in three years. Today now that was kicked ***, you don't get but tree points till the game is over and the browns had their way after the muffed field goal.

We got punched in the mouth and as is our norm under Tomlin took it like *******.

By looking at the stats you'd never know we lost by 21. They scored, we mostly just moved the ball.

trick plays? I musta missed those unless your referring to the play action passing game as trick plays. The Browns just dominated the Steelers in every facet of that game. There have been uglier losses but this one was pretty damn bad. The other one that sticks in my mind was the 8 or 9 turnover game vs the Clowns 2 years ago if my memory serves me correctly. This one has the same stink!

These guys get paid, win or lose. The days of pride are gone. So are the great aSteelers teams

Mitchell admitting that he and others are not disciplined players. Play action is not trickery. Guess what Mitchell, the so called "trickery" happened, because you idiots could not stop the run...

The "trick" to which Mitchell is referring is throwing passes to the middle of the field, since no Steelers DB will be close to the ball.

Or running zone blocking with cut-backs by the running back.

Or maybe just hammering the defensive front 7 on 1st and goal, and seeing the offense ram the ball into the end zone.

Or maybe tricking the pass rushers into getting nowhere near the QB. Or the DL getting tricked into getting blown off the ball.

Lots of tricks.

Please don't talk crap after getting your teeth kicked in.

It's time for LeBeau's defense to go. It took longer than I thought but the rest of the league has figured out to use the Pats* offense against us, which has been the Steelers' kryptonite for the last 13 years. Couple that with a declining talent level on defense and there you go.

We dominated the first quarter plus. If we get at least 10 points there, as we should have, it is a different game the rest of the way. We must score in the red zone. Getting to the 7 and running 3 times in a row is ******* stupid. I know many on here haven't learned yet that we can't run when we NEED to run. That series we NEEDED to run and got stuffed three times in a row. Some said Ben changed the play at the line on the 3rd down play. If that is the case, he ****** up.

Its clear now, that the Steelers signed a moron in Mike Mitchell. Dude is about as "football stupid" as it gets

You mean like the first game when we had the game "won" at halftime. The bottom line is we make 0 adjustments. We had how many weeks to prepare for what the Browns did in the first game and we were clueless on stopping it. Why can we not cover a TE? If Keisel can run him down then surely one of our cbs and safety's can stay with him.... I think hoyer is under - rated as a QB, but the Browns are missing their top wr, lost their pro - bowl center and I think another starter in the line and we can't do anything. They need to stop this passive crap and at least try something different. At this point it will not be worse. They are giving up big plays as it is so I'm not sure why they don't just play balls to the wall. They "might" at least get a turnover or two

That one was on Troy....bit pretty badly on the 3rd TE running down the line to block. Nice play design by Cle. and I'm not excusing our corners' play, but that was one play I was kind of thinking "ok, the Browns get credit there." And as much as I absolutely hate to say it, Troy has become a bit of a liability. And the entire secondary is terrible.

Interesting comments, sometimes I wonder about the memory of our fans. It was not that long ago we went down the field and threw the ball 11 times in the red zone and put up ten points as a final score. Everyone was screaming about run the ball. This time they run and put up 10 points. There are reasons the team can't score. They are not very good, not prepared, poorly led by the guys on the field and the sidelines, and do not put in the work needed to be good.

trickery is sending a one-man rush and still allowing a pass completion

I have been on this very issue for the last couple years, Troy's tackling ( overrunning the ball carrier ) is now being manifested by a noticeable decline in coverage skills. When a safety can't keep up with a TE on a deep cross, it's time to find a safety that can.

My next issue seems to be centering on Ben. I see a rapidly declining accuracy issue being pasted onto an already limited ability to read and react, causing Ben to not only to continue to hold the ball longer than he should but I'm thinkin' we will see a steady rise in his interceptions as well.
