Mike Tomlin destroying the Steelers.

It's easy to see this season and probably 2022 are going to be painful to watch..... the Steelers are in the rebuilding phase with a HOF QB. I can't rag on Big Ben he is the best QB the Steelers have had since the Terry Bradshaw Glory Years. Father Time and the injuries have finally caught up with Ben and it's hard to watch when you have been seeing him lead this team for the past 18 years.

MT on the other hand is a different situation-story.... I have never been a big Tomlin supporter. I have been watching the Steelers since 1976.... Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher are two great coaches that built their own Steelers Dynasty. IMHO I am not sure Tomlin can do the same....hope he can....but I doubt it. I'm 56 years old....I remember the years with Bubby Brister, Mark Malone-David Woodley, Nel O'Donnel, Mike Tomzak, Kordell Stewart (fun to watch), and Tommy Maddox at QB. Trust me 90% of those years were tough on Die Hard Steeler Fans. I hope like Hell we do not go down this long path with Tomlin rebuilding what he perceives the Steelers need to be going forward.

Tomlin just signed his extension. He could have a **** record this year and still not be on the hot seat. He isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. If he does, I would be shocked. So, quit bitching about it for a couple more years. Then, maybe it will mean something if we have 2 or 3 **** seasons in a row with no franchise QB.
Bitching about it is all we got.

All the comments of not having a smashmouth identity, are funny. Tomlin is and has always been soft as hell, that is HIS IDENTITY, It will not change. He has always thought he was smart enough to win games, though he seems to lack the x’s & o’s IQ.

Hate for this to be my first post. I've watched every steeler game for the past 40 years. I own season tickets. I'm now in so cal and Florida(due to work) the past 15 years. I try to make it back for 1 or 2 games a year. I sell the rest of the tickets or give them to family. I watched a few series of the packers game. I hate to see Ben go out like this. I'll watch bits and pieces of Ben's final games. But I will sell my season tickets and once Ben is done I will not watch a steeler game until tomlin is gone. Enough is enough Art obviously doesn't care he is more concerned with having tomlin as his coach than winning. My opionon is that it is a very sad day to be a steeler fan...

Things can change but right now, I don't see us getting more than 6 wins this year and that might be a big reach. Tomlin won't sniff a winning season this year.

An aging Ben doesn’t have enough left in the tank to hide all of the inadequacies we have on the coaching staff and OL..helluva send off ya came back for Ben. That CLE playoff loss stung, but may feel pretty good after the 5-12 we look like we’re heading for.

Hate to see Ben go out that way but they all decline and all leave one way or another. Tomlin yeah not sure he will be getting the 🪓 anytime soon. Hard to stop watching when you are a diehard fanatic. Just hope for the best and **** the rest.

Love em when they win.
Love em when they lose.

What four games left do you see us winning?

You gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away....

I hope that you post more, I love hearing from older fans (I'm one too) who can share memories of the games.

Can anyone explain to me why the headline to this thread is present tense? Tomlin destroyed this team a decade ago. The high water mark for Tomlin was SB 43 and, if you remember, it took a 100 yard interception return and a thrilling catch to win the game. If Harrison doesn't get that INT, it's at least a 10 point and maybe a 14 point swing the other way.

God bless us old guys.

If Swann or Stallworth don't make great catches...

If the ref doesn't call pass interference...

Noll might not be 4-0.

I don't understand your point.

Noll built the entire Steelers dynasty of the 70s. Tomlin has built ****.

No ****. Tomlin sucks. There is plenty of material to show he sucks without reaching.

Even the greatest coaches win through clutch plays by their players.

Tomlin was a DB coach (primarily) before becoming our head coach.

His record in drafting DBs as the Steelers HC has been abysmal.

This may not be the most obvious indictment as to his overall ineptitude as a HC, but it sure does build a case against him.

How would Grimm or Whiz have fared had the Rooneys gone in that direction? We’ll never know…

Yeah, but Noll would have been no worse than 3 - 1. My point is that Tomlin built a dynasty in reverse - started with a solid team and ran it into the ground.

No, I disagree with that. Did Noll run his dynasty into the ground or did it get old? It got old. Some of the great players Tomlin had started to get old or beat up.

Look, there are so many things Tomlin does I just don't understand. Most simply just not seeing anything different from week to week. The guy is the definition of insanity...doing the same things and expecting different results.

But keep it there. Definable things. When you get off in the weeds people can just point out what I did and then it may get lost how bad this has become.

His stars got old,but by the time he left, he handed Cowher a team that was restocked fairly well. Cowher took right off and built upon what he was given.

The team looks like a boat adrift at sea. There seems to be no direction other than the winds and current pulling it in . The sails have torn off completely and the captain is content with drifting aimlessly.

Oh, ****. Don't say that. I love Cowher but it has been the contention of many that Cowher started with a bare cupboard...Tomlin was handed a dynasty. Over the years I pointed out that Cowher started with some pretty damn good players too, it was construed as a defense of Tomlin.

It is terrible what is going on. I just don't get it. I think Tomlin is a good man and doesn't want to lose. I think he and the Rooney's are loyal to a fault. I think maybe that is part of what led to the 1980s with Noll and some of those players. Who is to say they are wrong? These players have given a lot to the organization and us fans. At the same time, he never changes anything from what I can tell. And it sure as heck isn't working.

I've said this for a few years now. Nothing ever changes with these guys during the season. Nothing. They say it all the time. We're going to stick with what we're doing. We won't alter what we do. I don't see us changing much, just some tweaks. Just terminology like that all the time. I stopped watching the press conference stuff years ago. It's the same song and dance. Just "coach speak".

Cowher was absolutely given a restocked team and he carried that physical we will make you pay for every yard against us. We will run the football.

We don't have anything that resembles Pittsburgh Steeler Football in my opinion.

Following "The Standard" is a nice catch phrase, but they don't have a clue what that's about. That brand of football is what most Steeler fans love. Certainly all of us long time fans.

Going to need some new coaches and probably a new GM to get back what's been lost. That's probably going to take some time. They didn't get this way overnight.
