Mike Tomlin says BIG changes are happening

Also listened until he was asked about the 4th and 1 play and he made the excuse that the "Bigs" package was decimated with the injuries with Jones already on the field and Pat out. SO!!!! You didn't need the bigs package to run a 4th and 1 play asshat!!! Football is a numbers game, use formation and run the damn ball in a spread set. UGH!!

If Mike Tomlin believes that small changes will alter what is going on with the team, Mike Tomlin does not have the benefit of seeing the Steelers play.
  • Terrible play calling? Check
  • Terrible blocking? Check
  • Terrible routes featuring receivers running 20 yards to get to a spot 5 yds from the LOS and stopping? Check
  • Terrible run defense? Check
  • Terrible/non-existent ability to change to meet tactics not anticipated? Check
  • Leaving receivers wide open? Check
  • Never having a receiver open? Check
  • Immediately abandoning something that is actually working? Check
  • Poor effort? Check
  • Poor tackling? Check
  • Getting rolled by a rookie QB behind 5 scrubs on the OL? Check
  • Punting on 4th and 2 at opponents 42 when down by 17? Check
  • Shotgun with deep patterns on 4th and 1 while in field goal range, down 10? Check
 
Tomlin just told us stupid fans that the 4th and 1 play didn’t work because Moore and Friermuth were out.

I wouldn’t hold out hope for medium or big changes. Not that any of us were.

Tonlin’s idea of big changes is the lunchroom offering paper straws in plastic instead of plastic straws in paper.
 
What a joke! The big changes, they will practice in full pads on Wednesday.
Asked about changes to playcalling duties, he said “not at this time”
Asked about the 4th and 1 call out of the shotgun when Kenny got injured. He said “ we were limited on our packages with Muuuth and Dan Moore out and that we needed to draw a line in the sand and go for the points rather than kick FG”
So wtf would you call that play if two of your starters are out?
Brooke Pryor was the only one pressing him it seemed.
Kenny will be evaluated and see how he progresses and the quality of those practices determines if Kenny starts.
Said they were “out physical” by the Texans. Ya think
Basically a lot of nothing… just another typical word salad we’ve become accustomed to from him.
Dan Moore is out as well as Harvin and possibly Leal who is in concussion protocol.
James Daniels will practice.
Muuuth out with hamstring.

I an not surprised as I think they would prefer to make those type of changes, coaching, at the bye. I would hope this is Canadas last ride.
 
Steelers and ravens always play close games because they know each other so well and everyone plays hard. This will likely be a close game win or loss and the takeaway for Tomlin will be that he fixed the problems.

May seem hard but I feel like we should be rooting for the Steelers to get blown out and embarrassed. Only way things change because they are obviously content with winning 9 games and an early playoff exit.
 
I will admit I was a little hopeful that he would put a little fire under Canada at least. Make another offensive coach part of the game plan and play calling. Give them a little insight so if a change was made after the Rats game it wouldn't be so big for the new play caller. He would have at least a tiny step towards it before actually taking over. But instead it is just the exact same thing from Tomlin. He literally did nothing. He is the worst.

maybe you should not have called a play they depends on Freiermuth when he’s not in the game.
 
For the first time I honestly hope the Ravens slap the living crap out of us Sunday. That's the ONLY way changes will be made.

I don't need a different coach fired every week, month or even year. I don't want to become the Clowns. But Canada needed to be gone after last year at the latest. I'm at a loss😡
 
I'd have fired him 10 seconds after that 4th and 1 shotgun call. I'd have made it clear he better make the call that saves his job. But then again, I'd have fired a lot of people, and ****, I'd have cut Harvin after the first game too, so what do I know.

The sad reality is that this offense is what Mike Tomlin wants… last year when it led the league in plays per drive was absolutely perfect for Tomlin… painful to fans, but this is what he wanted all along…

Put the coaches in pads and throw them out on the field and let the players pummel them in practice. That'll stir things up.

You've got to get up pretty early in the morning to beat Coolie.

He had the chance to bring in an assistant offense coach like they had for the D last year and they did absolutely nothing. That was our first clue how bad the O would still be this year. They continue to do the same things over and over again.
 
That excuse is so lame. They already tried that play on 4th and 1 in a previous game and had the same result without KP getting hurt. That play should be removed from their vocabulary. 2 plays that very well would have worked are the QB sneak (even if it was a long yard to gain) with Najee and Washington coming over to both push KP from behind. Most teams easily get 1 to 2 yards doing this. Or, they could have had KP under center with a handoff to Najee. They could have had Washington either come in motion and block for Najee or have Washington come from behind and help push Najee forward.

I never root against the Steelers but you are right. If we keep this close or pull out a win, all will be great with Rooney and no changes will be coming. A beeotch slapping like this past weekend might open some more eyes but I still doubt anything happens until the end of the season.
