"Baby it's cold outside" is now "date-rapey"

I'm not a milennial, but I have always found that song to be creepy. So maybe there is something to that theory.

your weirdness is our own barometer on the issue.

go stand in some humidity.

My 15 yo daughter has been saying this for years.

Key and Peele have a great version.

The Saturday night live version is actually one of their rare funny skits.

Read an article (or started to and then got so annoyed with it that I quit) in which the writer (FEMINIST) said that this song is actually a feminist anthem....that the woman is using her beguling ways to trap the man into having sex. That's about as far as I got then quit.
In any case, it's a stupid song, it's creepy, it's crappy, and all versions of it should be blown up.

Great song, especially the Dean Martin version. It was a song for the times - having cocktails, smoking cigarettes. If you stayed overnight, people would talk. It's a fun song about a girl trying to decide whether to stay overnight, and the guy trying to persuade her. Only snowflake, liberal, millennials would make this into a date rape thing. Jesus!!

Ha! My wife literally just said last week, "That song is ******* creepy, I never noticed it before".

I don't now anything about all the feminazi jargon this lady is talking about but if you listen to the words, it does kinda sound like he's ready to "Cosby" her drink when she gets up to use the bathroom lol.

"He's denying her the agency to make her own decision to leave."

Who the **** talks like that? Has anyone ever seen that movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers where everyone walks around in a blank stare daze unemotional and stone faced? That's where these millennials are heading with this stupid ****. Everything is an attack on everything.

The girl is struggling with her own indecision between doing what she clearly wants to do (stay) and what she thinks other people would want her to do. It's not a guy trying to convince her to do something she doesn't want to do.

Add in the fact that it was written in 1944, the scandalous implication was probably staying out too late past curfew, not staying over and having sex.

I don't necessary like everything about the song, but that's the way I interpret it as well.

The "voice" in her head telling her to leave is not her own, it's society's norms (of that day) that tell women NOT to have choice in who they sleep with and abstinence until marriage is the only option. Kind of a radical idea in 1944. I mean, even in 1955 Good Housekeeping was writing articles like this:

https://www.colorado.edu/AmStudies/lewis/1025/goodhousewife.pdf

(which by the way is the greatest thing to read out loud at a wedding rehearsal dinner).

They prefer communism and socialism over capitalism. Keeping that lot out of power will save the music and history. They have to be the softest, weakest lowest testosterone generation in the history of mankind.

Everything is an attack on everything.

I deem this to be an attack on my right not to be exposed to the word attack. And I deem this:

To be racist, sexist, homophobic, misogynistic, anti-LGBPSTDPAT, imperialistic, white-nationalist propaganda.

CNN says It's a Wonderful Life needs to be retired because it's sexist or something.

I was with you until I heard the line “What’s in this drink?” I don’t know man... that’s kind of ****** up.

In other news: trivial **** ticks off millenials.

#MyGenerationSucks

My take is that perhaps they should devote more time to finding meaningful employment, so they can be responsible for themselves and move out of their parents house.

May be a bit cruel to say, but I don't believe this young lady need worry about anyone making sexual advances toward her.

Time to move on to the The Wizard of OZ and diagnose what's up with that lion.

Saw on Twitter yesterday that the Today Show was discussing whether to chnage FATHER CHRISTMAS to PERSON CHRISTMAS because it's sexist.

Yes, I read that. Because Mary gave up her career to get married and raise kids. You know. like almost every other woman of that era did, and like some still do today. But we need to pretend like that has never happened.
