Minkah Fitzpatrick - Worth a high pick?

This could mean Hilton moves to FS. Possibly Sutton too. They are both mostly out of a nickel job now.

I wonder if they shop Artie Burns now. They may be able to get a 3rd for him to a team looking for CB depth. Burns does have good measurables and he does have some good NFL moments. It would not be a shock if there's a team that liked him in the draft and thinks he fits their style of play to be interested in a trade.

I don't know Tape. Look at Burns play last year. I don't think there are too many Steelers type suckers out there.

I don't know. Elbow ligaments whether it is a pitcher or a QB especially at his age, I'm thinking less than 50-50 he could return to form.

Only other QB to experience this was Delhomme back in 2007, who knows if it's Tommy John surgery or what. 12 years later, they should have a little better rehab and understanding. I would think anyhow.

the best way to get to the playoffs is to win the division. with Landry, OBJ, Hollywood Brown, Boyd and AJ Green in this division, we need as competent secondary as we can get. this move helps

We arent winning the division any time soon either!

Maybe 3 years ago, that team is history

3-13

Delhomme said his arm felt better after, too.

Ben could be fine next year.

which makes the Rudolph thing all the more interesting

only colbert doing jedi mind tricks on the raiders again could pull that trade

you are saying we are going 3-13? i think bs. on that we still win at least 8 games

One guess is as good as another

Predicting the future is risky business

If you watched the Clowns vs Jets tonight in the 3rd QTR.....OBJ lined up in the slot with about 3:30 to go in the 3rd Quarter. Mayfield hits OBJ in the slot 7 yds out....catch and taken to the house. This is where Minkah will help our Steelers Defense! He excels at covering WR's in the slot!
That's great because our plan to have ILBs covering slot receivers has sucked

But you are really not factoring in need. Lets roll the scenarios. If Rudolph is good to really good, Ben likely pulls the plug. If he sucks he probably rehabs and comes back, but you would really have to think hard about taking a QB there anyhow. People are ******** on Tua, but you could trade out of a pick move down and stockpile and still get a QB. Super risky move.

It really depends on where they place their need. Right now, they have who they believe is the next QB in Rudolph, with Ben as a fall back. The D needs help now, so I would go this route TODAY, at the end of the year, need could very well be at the QB position.

Next season:
1. Sean Davis is gone, is Edmunds going to be moved to FS?

2. Dupree will be gone, hopefully. With no 1st round pick, is the FO investing a pretty penny on the OLB market? It's never cheap

3. Hargrave will be gone too, unfortunately. With how little he's actually used on the field I guess they don't want to invest heavily on a NT, though everyone knows a NT is completely necessary on a 3-4, except our coaches of course. Are we changing to a 4-3 ? The 2nd round pick might be invested on DLine help.

4. WR, from riches to rags. Moncrief, due to injury or not doesn't matter, has busted out. No one was expecting him to substitute AB, all we needed was a reliable deep threat player that could stretch the field and produce 60 yards per game. Another option for 2nd or 3rd pick on draft day

5. The team still lacks a 2nd TE, Zero depth here. We are out of high draft picks already in this scenario, FA maybe?

6. If Conner keeps getting injured we absolutely have to draft a RB early on, unless Snell actually gets himself slimmer and becomes a reliable option.

Hopefully he can stop the run, Ravens will be running it down our throats.
Tomlin “obviously” had the team so prepared for the Seahawks he felt spying Russell Wilson was not a priority? Wilson kept possessions with his legs! Lamar Jackson is faster than Wilson fer crissakes!

Gosh this board needs a tampon lately

Yeah, the silver lining is we won't have a 1st round pick to ***** about incessantly. Colbert/Tomlin tend to do much better in the middle rounds, so grabbing Fitz was a no brainer in my book.

Gonna have lowest pick since 1988 and we trade it....

This!

My god they get dumber by the day. Doesn't matter how many good DB's you have if your head coach is a DB killer

Don't you guys remember who we drafted back then? I'd rather take the known quantity at this point.

Do you really think Tomlin will be gone even if he has a bad season now that Ben is out? I think that is wishful thinking on your part.

Tomlin can breath a sigh of relief, now that Ben is done for the year, there is even less a chance he is let go.

Sean Davis started less games than Fitzpatrick did and almost had the same stats, 1 less pick, actually had more tackles for a loss and more sacks.

Yes because we are so great at developing defensive guys

Be careful Tom, you will get the wrath of Coach. It doesn’t fit his narrative.

you people are bitching that we traded a "potential top 10 pick" and a certain perennial all-pro first-ballot HOFer DRAFTED BY COLBERT AND TOMLIN for a guy drafted 11th last year.

he was a junior when he entered the draft... which makes him still young.

Fitzpatrick turns up the intensity level as high as it will go and and rips off the knob until the game is over. Fitzpatrick has experience as a slot cornerback, but will likely be targeted as a "do-everything" safety who can be deployed as a sub-package linebacker, a blitzer or in the slot against big receivers and move tight ends. Fitzpatrick has consistently shined since his freshman season on Alabama defenses that have been loaded with NFL talent. His versatility, football character and desire to succeed should make him an early starter.

  • Loves ball, lives ball
  • Extremely competitive play demeanor with a history of showing up big in the biggest games
  • Versatile chess piece with experience all over the field
  • Can step right in and cover the slot, play high safety or handle nickel linebacker responsibilities
  • Good feet with ability to transition backward and forward smoothly around the field
  • Gets to top chase speed quickly
  • Can become rangy safety
  • Able to stick a foot in ground and drive to the ball
  • Plays with "ball-man" vision of an off-ball defender in basketball
  • Has awareness from zone to make loads of plays
  • Has nine career interceptions and four pick-sixes
  • Has downhill mindset as a hitter
  • Plays off of blocks and into tackling position
  • Dangerous blitzer off the edge
  • Attacks line of scrimmage from high safety look in run support and welcomes physical challenges
  • Special teams ace with 22 career coverage tackles

he's cheap, isnt represented by Rosenhaus, and won't cost more than $2 mil until 2021.
