Minkah Fitzpatrick - Worth a high pick?

This was last weeks move, lol
Are we one player away on defense?
Can he score 30 pts, can he play QB?

Dont drop that basket with all the eggs Mason!

if you can't score, you gotta try and stop the other side....

would you rather they threw in the towel this season?

If you watched the Clowns vs Jets tonight in the 3rd QTR.....OBJ lined up in the slot with about 3:30 to go in the 3rd Quarter. Mayfield hits OBJ in the slot 7 yds out....catch and taken to the house. This is where Minkah will help our Steelers Defense! He excels at covering WR's in the slot!

Never seen a bad highlight reel.

LMAO...ok

Drink up, Skippy. I know this kid and I have watched EVERY GAME. Crimson and I maybe homers; but you and the rest of the haterade crew will see. Write it down.

Oh, and I've had more time to 'think' about the possibilities...

Minkah is already the best slot defender on the team. That means your DB's rate like this:

1. Haden
2. Nelson (he played excellent ball last week)
3. Fitzpatrick
4. Hilton
5. Burns
6. Sutton

Those are the DB's.

At Safety here's where he ranks:

FS - Fitzpatrick
FS - Davis
SS - Edmunds
SS - Dangerfield

I'm gonna take another two shots and sleep well...

did you see how the FS completely ****** up trying to stop OBJ? that was hilarious, looked like playing Madden when the joystick gets stuck

So what about when he lines up on the outside over Nelson lol.. just doesn't make sense.

Oh, I know. Ryan Clark hates the move too. What does he know though? Coolie and Bermuda know what they're talking about though.

I know just as much as you....and my opinion is worth just as little as yours......

I just read this on nfl.com...

"The big-time potential for Fitzpatrick to excel on a team known for their strong defenses is undeniable. He was one of seven rookies last year with 80+ total tackles and 2+ interceptions, per NFL research"

Known for their strong defense? How many decades does their defense have to suck before this misconception goes away?
Sean Davis started less games than Fitzpatrick did and almost had the same stats, 1 less pick, actually had more tackles for a loss and more sacks.

Yes because we are so great at developing defensive guys

how is trading a #1 for a quality DB plus getting a 4th (while giving up a 5th next year and swapping a 6th for a 7th in 2021) mortgaging the future?

You better be getting better than a QUALITY DB with that kind of trade. Is he great or just a quality guy now?

I know you Alabama lovers have a big chubby here but lets get real. You are pinning everything on a second year QB with two quarters of experience. I know the dick swagger roles like the Tide, but statistically you are FAR more likely to be giving up a top 10 possibly a top 5 in this spot. .

Fair point, but as excited as we are, it's not just because he was a Bama guy. He played every position in the secondary on Nick Saban's defense, and excelled at all of them. If it was just homerism, you'd be sick of me posting about Barron, Buggs, and Josh Frazier from last year. I'm a realistic fan and regardless of his college affiliation, I was blown away by this guy's play throughout his entire college career. Yes, the extra giddy-ness is pure homerism but I would still be behind getting him even if he'd played at LSU. He's THAT good.

Cool, I hope he can fix all the communication issues then too. He better be good or you lose all credibility.

I've never called him great (go ahead and look back) I said they traded for a guy who could be a star....could be....you roll the dice and take your chances

unlike some of you, I am glad they are still trying to put a quality team on the field THIS season

I know how you feel Coolie. There are 14 games left and you don't want to see this team give up already. I get that. Thing is that that really will not come down to Fitzpatrick trade. That will come down to Mason Rudolph. If he is Great they could win 8 or 9 games. If he is ok they could win six and if he is terrible they could win 3 or 4. Fitzpatrick isn't going to change that much. So I would hedge my bet here. I would keep the 1st. If he looks good you could get him a weapon or an edge rusher. If he is the ***** you are looking for a franchise QB or a superstar player. I really don't think Fitzpatrick is a superstar.

the way the Dolphins are going that 4th round will be extremely high.

so will Fitzpatrick play safety or corner?

I don't see the next Roethlisberger in next years draft yet either....of course I am not an expert talent evaluator like the rest of you

to me it comes down to keep trying to put your best team on the field or be the browns or dolphins and suck for the rest of the year in the hope you find a star in the draft....

like I said you roll the dice and take your chances....**** waiting for what might happen...

they finally make moves and you guys still *****

I see you're reasoning but I just don't think this was the season to do it. Why not have done this when we had the best offense in the league?
They've never done a trade like this before and they choose now to do it? One possibly great slot corner isn't going to help turn this defense around this year, if he played safety he could have more of an impact.

that was a little while back though.....
I know...but Tua ain't like any other QB Bama has had. The Namath reference equates to that...
gaudy stats are a dime a dozen these days. I am skeptical of all these college QBs that rely on running. It basically means that in college, they never see a real pass defense, especially if they are on a top team.

What running QB has really been great in the NFL? Cam Newton had 1 big year but got shut down in the SB when he met a top defense.

Nobody had more talent that Vick and he was inconsistent most of his career,

When i watch Tua, I see a lot of throws to wide open guys. That always gives me pause when evaluating a QB.
Disagree. Tua throws his WR's open...not gonna go get video support on this but it's out there.

sure, you've watched him play just as much as coach has seen Ed Oliver play....
Hilarious!!!

Reaching all the way back to Namath isn't helping your argument.
See my comment to Coolie - I know it's a dated reference, but Namath was a once in lifetime QB for Bama; same for Tua.

I just have a big chubby and dick swagger - didn't need you to tell me that...

True, but none of us are hating on Davis' play last year, opps, well, Coach is...

I bet he won't be buying his walkie talkie from Radio Shack...

Is he going to make Tomlin stop with the 2 DL scheme? Is he going to stop Tomlin from covering WRs with LBs? Is he going to force our coaches to get the calls into the game? Is he going to force Tomlin to quit playing garbage players like Dupree and keep them for 9 million? Fitz might be the best player out there, but he's not going to change the head coach or scheme
