"Najee Harris ain't it". NAJEE 3.0 It's time to go, yo....

I think we all know Naj is gone. I don't think Warren can handle the lead back role unless he has someone to split carries with him at maybe 60-40. We need to draft a power RB that has speed. Naj was the guy who could wear down the D and Warren was able to benefit from that. The way he runs, I can't see Warren lasting. Plus, he has a small fumbling issue. It's not a huge concern but it is a concern.

Tomlin's handling of RB1 has been less than stellar.
Bell, Connor and now Najee have all had issues associated with their Steeler careers: Bell went goofy and blew his place as one of the best backs in the league in Tomlin's system.

They tried Connor to replace him, but he got dinged a bunch (OL underperformance) and the Steelers decided to cut ties, so Connor has had several great years in Arizona. Another player performing above his Steeler level with another team.

Najee was Connor's replacement, overdrafted and into a situation with a poor OL his whole 4 year career.
IMO he would be crazy not to seek another opportunity, like Conner, with a team that has the OL talent/scheme to match him.

Maybe the Steelers can rectify this before FA and reconsider Najee's future, but it's Tuesday after Saturday's embarrassing loss and Pat Meyer is still employed by the Steelers.

Every starter from week one played. That is about as good as it gets. Zay Flowers didn't play for God's sake.
Typical, change you answer as if it was what you said all along.
Just because they player, doesn’t mean they were, as you said “fully healthy”

Omar did the right thing putting Naj on notice & Najee with everything on the line produced the exact same way as always...No vision, no speed, no burst & his answers on interviews can leave one puzzled

We need a new RB...We cannot win with 3 yards & a cloud of dust with Najee 3.0

I wish I had a stat for how many 3 yard runs I have seen from him in his 3 years...Like literally EVERY RUN OF HIS

Man I soooooo wanted to like Harris, but as Sean McCoy said about Naj last week "I think we can ALL agree Najee Harris ain't it"...

Najee ain't it...

1000 empty yards for 4 straignt years...1000 yards in 17 games is pretty anemic...1000 yards meant something at 14 games, 17 games? Not so much...All his “1000” yard seasons are "barely" over 1000 yards...Such relative small production from such a big back..

Najee ain't it...

NAJEE 3.0 It's time to go, yo....
I've been away.

You're reaching with your opinion, and that's fine. 4 consecutive 1000 yard campaigns has only been done once before. Bust 🤣 🤣 🤣

Scheme and OL chemistry/injuries should have been mentioned but you overlooked those facts.

He's also a great teammate.

Yeah, let's get rid of guys like that and bring in more headcases...

He’s basically Eddie George (in Eddie’s average years)

I wouldn’t break the bank for him, that’s for sure…
But if he were to accept a reasonable deal it wouldn’t be the worst thing.

Also, it wouldn’t be the best thing cuz this team could find a more explosive back that could help add some juice to the offense and RBs are a dime a dozen so why pay a dollar for 1?
They have explosive in Warren. He fumbles too much though...

Never liked the Najee pick. I realize its after the fact but man would I like to have that draft over again.
Instead of Najee my pick would have been Landon Dickerson whom I thought they were going to pick.
Second round would have been Creed Humphrey instead of Friermuth.
Third round would have been the best RB available.
Could you imagine having two all pros at the guard and center positions.
Then instead of reaching for Kenny draft the best tackle available. OL solved!
Don’t even get me started on Terrell Edmunds in the 2018 draft. Talk about overrating and reaching for a third round talent!
Tomlin has his fingerprints all over these drafts and that’s a huge reason we’re sitting where we are.
Yet no one is held accountable! Unreal!

There are 20 teams with better RB than Harris, thats the problem. Harris is not in the same universe as the top 10 RB in the league.
When you're rival has a guy like Henry you just can't compete with Harris level of production. Averaging 2 100 yd rushing games per season is never going to be good enough. It's just not.
With so many stud RB in the league, you need one to be competitive. The Cheifs were the only good team that could win without an Elite RB in 2024

Najee is a great dude and a solid RB, however he isn't a game breaker or game winning talent. Sucks to see him leave but it's best for both parties.

And even their non-star RB was better than ours. Najee is sh--.

If Najee is **** in our scheme, Warren is as well. He appears to look better at times, but he does have a fumble issue. You guys are seriously downplaying how difficult it is (17 games or not) to start out a career with 4 straight 1,000 yard seasons.

Only 12 players (now 13 with Najee) have done it, and none (other than Najee) since Chris Johnson (2011). The list:

Chris Johnson
Adrian Peterson
Clinton Portis
LaDainian Tomlinson
Corey Dillon
Eddie George
Terrell Davis
Curtis Martin
Barry Sanders
Eric Dickerson
Earl Campbell
Tony Dorsett

And a lot of those names were when the NFL was a run heavy league. Things that Najee has going for him? Health, hands, consistency. He has yet to have a solid OL in front of him. But you can see when they DO play well, he can be THAT guy. And when your team isn't a threat to pass the ball, because of philosophy issues, it makes it even harder to run the ball. I don't think they bring Najee back, and I think it's a mistake. I only hope he goes to a team with an OL and balls out. He gets a lot of hate for where he was drafted, but that's on Tomlin and Colbert not Najee.

Warren fumbled 2 times this season. Najee fumbled once, and it cost us a game. I will give ball security to Harris but every other aspect Warren appears better because he is. He has averaged almost 25% more ypc than Najee over a 3 year span. He is better catching the ball, in space, everywhere. If Harris was better the Steelers would have resigned him.
The 1000 yards in a 17 game season is not impressive, every team has a RB capable of a 1000 yard season if they were to get Harris volume. Alot of teams have 2 RB better than Harris.
For context
UDFA Willie Parker rushed for 4012 yards in 3 seasons 46 games
Najee Harris ran for 4312 yards in 4 seasons 68 games

Barkley ran for 2000+ yards in less than 17 games

hitting 1000 yards in todays NFL is nothing special especially for a 1st RD pick who has the second most touches in the NFL in that span.
The only guy with more touches in the past 4 years is Henry. In 10 fewer games Henry gained 1250 more rush yards.
Henry had more 100 yd games this season than Harris had in 68 career games.
Barkley did too.

Fine, he can take his under 4 ypc *** on out of Pgh and perform crappy elsewhere. He is not worth a 1st round pick.

Everyone on that list puts Najee to shame when it comes to rushing ability, every single one of them.

To be fair Parker was running behind a very well coached offensive line and our you seriously comparing our OL to that of Phillys? How has Conner been doing since he left this ****** *** coached team?

These guys will never understand that. This is why I hope Najee gets to a team with a solid OL. They also ignore the fact that Barkley's numbers were COMPLETELY different when he was in NY with a **** OL to run behind.

Pgh's OL sucks and always will with Meyer and Tomlin running it.
What part of **** OL and outdated system did you not understand? ******* parrot.
Warren ran behind the same OL but had a better ypc. Powie.

Warren has never been the feature back, never had the same stacked box, comes in mostly on third downs. It's not apples to apples. In fact, A LOT of third down backs have a high YPC than the starter due to the number of carries compared.

If he were such a "good back" why is his ayc so low?
first off his yards per carry is right there with the greats that played on this team (I posted the numbers once in this thread)
and secondly he plays behind what is probably the worst line in the league while splitting time with Warren and still manages to get a 1000 yards a year.

Every time Harris touches the ball he is looking at nine guys in the box. Why? because everyone in the ******* league knows every ******* play we are going to run. Put any other back int the league on this team and see what their numbers would be.

Our problem is not Harris or even Pickens with his attitude. Everyone on the face of this planet with the exception of Art ll and those that are either Tomlin nut huggers or ******* DEI lunatics Know our problems rest squarely on the shoulders of Mike Tomlin.

Our problems are not necessarily player problems but coach and ownership. Art is either afraid to fire his black head coach, somehow thinks have a black head coach makes him look good or he just plain doesn't care about winning.

I said what I said and whoever doesn't like it can **** all the way off...

Thank you! It's amazing that he did what he did in this **** offense, with a patchwork line.

To your point, Emmit Smith had 1,262 attempts in his first four years behind that massive pro bowl line, whereas Naj had 1,097 and had to make his own holes.

Naj, just like most brilliant players on the Steeler's roster are done a great disservice to their talent being wasted.

Some of Meyer's recent work, combining innovative scheme and light touch efficiency (watch 65 waltz):

That video is exactly why Pat Meyer should have had to hitch-hike home from Baltimore.

**** happens, but this similar stuff is a constant with Pittsburgh OL. To much so to just be coincidence and enough to justify poor coaching.

Najee will get fair market value, and will sign with an other team. Project 8-10 mil 4/yr..

Salute the nation
