NHL 2017-2018 season(other teams)

Fack washington.

Maybe this is what Vegas needs. A bit of a hateful turn.
One more shot at this. One game at a time.

Well all or nothing for them from this point forward.. They will need to play way better defense and flower will need the horseshoe holtby had up his *** this evening.

Just when you think you can tolerate the Caps winning the cup, they remind you just how big a bunch of **** bags they really are.

I was just about to congratulate TJ Sochi, russian birdman, Connley and Backstrom.
Hell no! Vegas has to make an historic comeback.

To hell with the hockey prudes who hate seeing an expansion team winning it.
As a Pens fan I do not want to see my douchebag rivals hoisting that beauty.

If Marino, Barkley and the like can stay ringless. So can Ovie

****.
I do not want to see mrs wilson, finally beat the Pens Ovie and Smith-Pelly hoist that.
I thought what Smith-Pelly did on MAF last game was bush league.

And why did the refs not let Reaves scrap?
Broke up his attempted fight twice

Anywho **** the caps.
Gotta go to snooze town

At this point I will just be happy with Reaves beating the hell out of Wilson Thursday night.

Like to see him with that **** eating grin missing a few teeth, and bloodied and bruised up for the parade.

The Flower is getting beaten like a rented mule. Does Matt Murray have a distant relative on their bench? :)

Watched the first period and that was enough for me. I can't watch the Caps win the Cup. Just like the Ravens and Patriots. Hate it! It's not that they don't deserve or earned it, but they are douche canoes. I can't take their coaches, fans or 95% of the players. Football can't come soon enough and off-season moves for the Pens. Get 'er done! I will gladly take 3 Cups in 4 years!

I can't stand their coach and Wilson of course. The rest of them meh. I have to give respect to Ovechkin for becoming a 2 way team player. That seems to be putting them over the top this year. Fleury is also making Murray look pretty good. The Pens as a team deserve more credit than most gave them i believe. We were close to beating the Caps barely half a team

If the Pens tighten up the back end and get back to scoring and they are instant contenders. HAVE to address the defense. I would start with a little addition by subtraction in Letang and Hunwick.

Definitely get rid of Hunwick.
I give Ruhwedal credit for a pretty solid playoff performance.
Letang needs to be bottom paired.

Dumo and Oleksiak should be a tandem.
Shultz qb the powerplay, cause his shot is more than Letang's at this point.

And honestly, play simple north & south hockey. Our team is so talented they look for the tic tac toe set up each time.

Sucks but the Craps are taking the Cup this year. They have Flowers number and look to have a pretty good handle on Murray if we face them again in years to come.

They'll have to figure out how to beat the Caps ability to disrupt the flow in the neutral zone, because you know all the teams out there will try to mimic that style of play. It pretty much neutralized the Pens firepower as it has the other teams they have faced. That style of play is definitely not something new. The Devils had great success with it and it stymied many high powered Pens teams back in the day. They have to re-learn how to dump the puck, grind it out and then set up their scoring chances.

If the Caps are playing trap hockey, it is the fastest trap and transition to offense I have ever seen.

One thing is for sure, when they are on top of their game, you'll rarely see the opposing team generate odd-man rushes as they are routinely clogging up the middle and the forwards are coming up to help out on defense. More often than not the Caps will generate a turnover from this and the Caps will be rushing towards the opponents goal. When the opposing team can get it into the Caps zone, Holtby has proved more often than not to be a strong last layer of defense. D I'd say their commitment to defense has been the key to their success this year. Ove could have been hurt and I still think they would have had a good chance to win.

I think it was the second game of the Pens series with the Caps and we went to the Capitol One Center to catch the game. Our seats were way up but pretty much right behind Murray's net for two periods. From there we could easily see how the Caps were slowing down the Penguins attack by not letting them get going North-South. When they did start flying around too fast, friggin Wilson or Ove would lay a good check on them to keep them off balance and turn their focus to avoiding a hit. The Caps were constantly getting odd man breaks off turnovers usually caused near the blue line. It was frustrating as hell to watch.

Hunwick at $2.25M needs to go. He doesn't fit the system. Ruhwedel will stay. Not great but at $650K he balances the bigger salaries. . Olesiak is a restricted free agent. I hope we can hold him at Hunwick money.

I go back and forth on Letang. $7.25M is a hell of a risk for a 31+ yr old defenseman. Not to mention coming off a horrible year. After some of Sid's recent comment on Letang. I tend to want to keep him. Blowing up the room didn't help this year. Everything depends on returns, for the right deal I'd move him.

After being injured the year before I wonder if Letang simply hit the wall and was running on 5 or 6 cylinders. He played the most games of his career since 2010-2011. What did Sid say about him?

I thought Sid's line was pretty good at dumping pucks and grinding.
But that was really only one line doing that. Sid and Guentzel can grind and play along the boards. Hornqvist will always get attention setting up the screen. ****! He had a good goal waived off.
As a result we tend to get good cycles going. But this season, the fatigue, the physical play of the caps --- as you said when the Pens did fly, Ovie and Wilson had them second guessing.

The guys will be fine.
I like our chances when all 4 lines are able to bring it.

The caps were physical in 2016 and 2017 as well. There is no magic formula.
They are just playing smarter defensive hockey and limiting quality chances on Holtby.
Orpik is playing lights out not letting screens get set up.

I can't find the damn interview. It went something like this. Sid commented on how much he and the team counted on Letang. That he was one player he could trust in the room or on the ice. He went further to say that everyone has bad games and that Letang sacrificed so much to be a Penguin. The interview was a day or so after the Pens were eliminated and the Letang hate was flying.

The Pens have 9 mil in cap space currently for 2019. Jim Rutherford has some hard decisions to make. They may involve Letang and Kessel. I think Letang can still be Number 1.......but he definitley
deserves a supporting cast. I am still miffed at losing Reaves.

Reaves and a halfway effective Kessel definitely would have been the difference in our series. I still wonder what the hell was up with Kessel. I'm more pissed at his play than Letang. If he was hurt then that's one thing but he looked like he didn't give a @#$%

Unless Kessel was sabatoging the games there is no way he could be that bad w/o injury. Im more pissed at the coaching for constantly putting him out there in prime spots.

in the grand scheme of the team, they really had no one better than a 70% Kessel. Brassard was injured and not the same, and I believe Geno was injured. I would move maybe the "stars" like Kessel and Letang to beef up the team and get depth. They are really good players, but are making a lot of money for two players. We saw what Simon could do and they had no faith in Sprong to put out there. This year will be different for those younger guys, but we need D help and some muscle. Our scoring depth dried up in the Wash series. Besides Jake and Sid, goals were hard to come by. The Pens are still in there when the discussion of the top tier teams are mentioned, but they have to tinker to get better. Washington will have a lot of confidence going into next season and I'd expect TB, Philly, NJ, Columbus and Boston to get better.

Caps speed has them swarming all over them - at least we can say we lost to the Stanley Cup winners, lol
