Official SB game thread

Mahomes has only been a starter for 6 seasons
4 Super Bowl appearance
3 SB wins
Has made it to the AFC Championship in those other 2 years
Lost both AFCC in OT
83% playoff win rate with only losses in AFCC OT and 1 in super bowl
Very nearly in 6 straight Super Bowls
Just won the SB with Rashee Rice, Mecole Hardman and Marquez Valdez Scantling at WR.

Of course Houston is now much more competitive with Stroud now the starter, there's no denying that you need a dude under center to elevate the team. but you're kidding yourself if you dont think the presence and efforts of Demeco Ryans' and his staff have had a major effect towards re-setting the culture of that franchise.

I'm not saying the culture in Pittsburgh is among the worst, I definitely realize it could be a lot worse than status quo. I can appreciate that the Steelers still foster a culture which calls for a fair amount of physical toughness on this team, big emphasis on "fair". But I still think this team has a BIG step to take if we want to be on KC's level of competitiveness.

I didn’t even watch. As a Steelers fan, why would I? All it does is serve as a grim reminder of how far behind the Pittsburgh Steelers are. I’ll wait until next season, filled with hope. Probably for nothing, but still.

Actually, the SF kicker who missed the XP won it for KC.
 
Great win for the Chiefs in a tough game. The officials totally blew the intentional grounding on Mahomes but he still carried them on his back to win. You just can't bet against him and Andy Reid. They are a dynasty and Mahomes is only 28. Can he catch Marsha? Maybe but it will be tough. He did it this year with terrible receivers dropping balls left and right. They need to draft a new TE (Kelce will be retiring soon) and/or a WR early in the draft and hope Rice keeps improving. The 9ers have a ton of top players making a lot of money. In a year or two when Purdy gets his big payday, they won't be able to keep the guys they have. They may not be able to keep them all this coming year. They were a loaded team but couldn't win it even being almost completely healthy for the SB.

Hard to say what would have happened, KC could have played different if they needed a TD instead of a FG. The missed XP certainly didn't help though. Moody has been very inconsistent all year, but he did nail 2 50+ yrd FGs. Hard to place the blame on him.

I think the Steeler culture is pretty bad, alot worse than when Ben was here, well I guess that depends on when, Tomlin's early years we still had guys like Farrior, Hamp, etc. From roughly 2012 to present it's been pretty bad. You have Dionte and Pickens just quitting in the middle of play and you have guys like Watt talking about poor practice habits, Najee complaining about lack of accountability

Mahomes is the master at all facets and will pass Brady. He has less physical talent than Allen or Jackson or Rodgers or a few others but is in complete control of everything happening on the O. He is a mental giant. Setting example as a leader. Ripping Rice for error and then getting him the ball.

The cascade effect of having Michael Jordan or being on his team. The coaches never worry about their guy and the rest of the roster plays with confidence. And he is on a bargain contract.

Who said Steelers have good culture because that was funny. It's been a dumpster fire for many years and you can't tell me Rooney doesn't see the gap between the champs and his team.


As for missed XP it doesn't matter. SF had 3 quarters to bury KC but didn't want to give CMC the ball until overtime? Purdy 50% completion? If it was real world SF coaches would be looking for work today.
 
As for Kelce: he'll be traded or cut or something.

Not sure of his contract situation but am sure he is a head case and a cancer on the team.

You know, not being from Pittsburgh, I really have no context for the deep love some folks have for KP.

I mean, he's average at BEST. And you'd think folks would begin to see that when their "career backup" literally outplays Pickett in every game he starts.

He's just a guy, man. Admittedly, our coaches etc. have done him no favors, but KP has shown no capability whatsoever to elevate above poor coaching. He's not the Messiah, gang.

Kelce is an ***. Been saying it for years. He is a shittalking happy go lucky guy when things are going good but you get what happened last night if he isn't getting the ball and they are not winning.

The Taylor Swift BS just makes it 10 times as worse to watch.

He's an obnoxious ******. That in your face screaming **** he did with the coach should have gotten him popped right in the Adam's apple in front of the world.

The only two guys I like on that team are Reed and Mahomes.
 
The Steelers culture is not near what it once was and to make things worse the majority owner doesn’t seem to get it.
This coaching staff from Tomlin on down needed to be gutted but once again Rooney missed the boat.
We are so far removed from appearing in a SB let alone winning one it’s not even funny.
Ask yourselves why players always say they want to play for coach Mikey T. It certainly has nothing to do with winning anything. It has to be they’ve heard about the lack of accountability and pretty much doing what you want.
Funny you never hear these players say they want to play for Mike Shanahan, AndyReed, Shawn McVay, Jim Harbaugh, even though all they do is win and win playoff games and SBs.
