Penguins 23-24

I disagree. You aren’t rebuilding if you are hanging on to guys like Malkin, Letang, Karlsson and Carter and Trading guys like Guentzel. What they’re doing is hanging on to the delusion that “the big 3” have another run in them. They don’t.
They’re gonna hold onto the big 3. That’s just an acceptance.

Carter is a Hextall pickup. I see Dubas letting him ago and tapping into the farm team next season. Carter’s current contract is easily 2 call ups from WBS. Guys like Poulin and Hinstroza need to be up in the nhl. But the Pens cannot call up a certain amount due to the salary cap.

Karlsson didn’t pan out as expected. He can probably be cut after this season as well.

It’s gonna be a bumpy start for Dubas. I don’t have any expectations for them in Sid/Malkin and Letangs last days.

I wish they would move on from Malkin and Letang. But they’re gonna have to rebuild around, accept the fact they won’t cup chase, if they’re dedicated to those guys.

Stop going after these over the hill superstars and start investing in youth

Sullivan needs to go after this season too. No point in cutting him now

Then they do it to their own detriment. Those contracts were stupid. Malkin and Letang were done three years ago. That was the time to move on. You can’t rebuild when you’re saddled with 6 year deals to over the hill players.

He’s not really the problem. Not the biggest problem anyway. Sure he hasn’t adapted well, but they’ve handed him a **** sandwich and asked him to make beef Wellington out of it. This crap started when they made the absolutely unnecessary trade for Derek Brassard. Leave that **** alone and you likely have a three-peat. They just kept tinkering with something that didn’t need tinkered with and it has been downhill ever since.

I just watched all the goals today and Letang looks like he is purposely playing like crap or something. He is turning the puck over and costing them goals every game now.

Now that the playoffs are just about history you see what you have in players when they stop playing.

I swear the only one that looks like he really cares is Sid.

The kings are slowly rebuilding while saddled with their core guys. The blueprint is there for a rebuild. It’s up to them in how they want to surround the guys they feel in debt to.

The kings don’t chase the Karlsson’s, Carter’s or Brassard’s however.

The Penguins have to stop taking rentals surrounding the three they want to see out.

Taking rentals worked when they were younger. These guys are slower and need surrounding speed to compliment them. They also need physicality. They’re an easy team to play against based on that being a huge factor.

I’d definitely give him til next season if Dubas sheds the older players. But if he has a losing record going into late November/December. It’s time to move on.

Definitely agreed on the Brassard debacle

Ahhh she wants to sell my monkey!! Bunting ties it up with 22 secs to go.

Another tough OTL... Jarry made some unbelievable saves in another game that was 22 seconds away from being another shutout. Unreal how inept this team plays at times.

Well they may lose out at this rate. That's an impressive streak they have going on in the bleh zone.

I couldn't watch tonight. Probably good.

It doesn't seem to matter if it's a close game or they're ahead by a few. Which that's becoming a thing of the past as well. They find a way to lose.

I'm starting to think it's by intent. Maybe they'll hit the lottery..lol.

Lucky they even got a point. Jarry kept it close. Not that it matters anymore.

Dubas is probably thinking this Cup Contender stuff might be harder than it looks with this bunch.
They’re not cup contending. If they were, they would’ve retained Guentzel for the season.

Dubas’ trade moves look to trend on the side of prospects. I look at what the LA kings are doing and think the Pens are following suit.

The Pens have a great history of tanking for generational talents, and there do not seem to be any available in the next couple seasons.....too bad.

No generational talents like Sid or le gros vache, but the Pens are having a Tomlin season, so it doesn't matter if there was someone.

First four minutes of this game was horrid. We looked like old rookies. But, they didn't score on us. Then we almost give up a shortie. At that point, we turned it on. Accari took a tip from a Karlsoon shot, and we go up 1-0. Then the ref blows an early whistle, and we get ripped off a goal.

This team is bipolar. Crazy.

That's a great description... Maybe lithium would be an effective supplement in their energy drinks.

Nice goal by JC with an assist by Benstrom.

Geno gets a gift... maybe it'll get him going...Too little too late.

Sorry to see Granlund rolled up on. Looked ugly.

Great play by Jarry to keep his glove and puck outside of the goal when he got pushed back in the net.
