Penguins 24-25

This sucks. I hate seeing them like this.

Ahhh buy Sam a drink and buy his dog one too!!! Ryan Shea with his second makes it 3-2! You have to be here to believe it!

3-3...Yoi......

Man what a ****** time for Pittsburgh sports right now. The Pirates are a ******* farm team with a cheap owner, the Pens are a few years past their expiration date and on a steady nose dive down and the Steelers are stuck in mediocre land permanently.

The funny thing is I think the Pens will get back to the Stanley Cup finals before the Steelers sniff another superbowl.

The way things are going, the Bucs are going to win the World Series before the Pens and Steelers make it past the first round of the playoffs.

Holy mother of God, we suck

Pens are at least being consistent. Guessing they should get a decent lottery pick

Josef needs to go down to the NAHL and play for the Johnstown Tomahawks, **** is he horrible! It's easy to point at Ned and Bloom, and yes, they're not playing well, but this defense may be the worst in Penguins history...and yes, I know how bad the early 80's teams were.

Truth is that I would bring up a bunch of the baby pens, just to see what we have. This season is toast, and we will be stockpiling pics. There may be some diamonds in the rough down there.

Us fans expect to lose now anyway. What's the problem with losing while we learn about our minor league guys? We already know the ceiling for the big boys. It might make the games more interesting to watch up and comers.

I didn't watch last night. Sounds like I'm glad I didn't.

I keep waiting for the axe to drop on Sully but I don't think it's his fault. He can obviously coach a team if it has players that are halfway worth a damn.
He’s not the problem. Management through out the years have given him a bad roster.

A lot of it is being addressed now with the amount of draft picks and promising showing in the minors.

I’d love to see a younger roster under Sullivan before axing him

Agreed. I like the guy and he's proven he can coach. He just doesn't have anything to work with

Pens got a lot of problems on the back end, and they can’t solve any of it thanks to some horrible contracts.

Choosing nostalgia over rebuilding set this franchise back a decade.
That's correct, and here's what I see:

1) Crosby is no longer a first-line center. He's still a good second-line center. He continues to produce on a point-per-game pace because he plays with the best two other forwards on the team (Rakell and Rust), he's always on the first power play unit, and he's always out there (although these have been fewer this season) when the other team pulls its goaltender.

2) Malkin is no longer a second-line center. He's still a good third-line center. He should be used as a power play specialist, yet they don't even put him out there on the starting unit anymore. He still has some good skills, but he was never great defensively, and now that is as glaring as ever when he plays against top six forwards.

3) Letang is no longer a top pair defenseman. He's probably more like a third pair guy at this point. He's a shell of his former self. Even just last season he still seemed to have retained most of his signature speed, but he's clearly lost several steps here in 2025.

4) Trading for Karlsson put the nail in the coffin for the above three guys, because his contract is ridiculous, and his offensive prowess no longer makes up for his defensive liabilities The rest of this team (outside of the top line) consists of a bunch of basically fourth-line nobodies and below average defenseman, because there isn't enough cap room to go around thanks to these vastly overpaid veterans.

5) The goaltender they went all-in with is in the minor leagues while still eating up a bunch of salary space, and they've turned to a journeyman who is obviously not a #1 goalie.

Put that all together, and it's not surprising that the Penguins got eaten alive by a Flyers team that's not even good enough to be in playoff position. Pretty sad.

Other than all that, we're pretty good, really.

It looks like a tank job to me. I'm good with whatever. It will bring about needed change and hopefully some good draft picks.

Just when I think everyone is washed. Geno puts up a 4 point night and the GW. Karlsson with a 4 point night as well.

They seemed to play with emotion and a fire in their belly after Ned went off. He and Imama turned this game around big time. Fun game to watch after they started playing like they're capable of doing
