Penguins Offseason, free agency, moves around the league, all in one thread!

so, reports are floating around that the Pens are giving Vegas a pick to ensure they pick MAF.

I won't believe anything till I see it - we might not even hear of trades till tomorrow

Welcome to NHL Expansion Draft Day. Fascinating times. Multiple deals have been done; may only be tip of iceberg heading into CHI for draft.

Net effect, tho, is many GMs are champing at bit to start making deals again when "freeze" is lifted at 8 a.m. ET Thursday. Handcuffs off.

Looks like that was done in Feb.

Marc-Andre Fleury - G - Penguins

Pittsburgh reportedly gave Vegas a draft pick to ensure that the Golden Knights will choose Marc-Andre Fleury in the expansion draft.

This deal was apparently agreed to a while ago because it was believed that Vegas would have plenty of goaltending options to choose from.

It's also expected that Fleury will be there when the team is revealed Wednesday night and he will help serve as a face of the franchise.

Leaks are coming out

Marc Methot - D - Senators

Marc Methot has been selected by the Golden Knights in the expansion draft, according to league sources.

David Perron - W - Blues

David Perron will be Vegas' pick from St. Louis in the expansion draft, according to a league source.

Jean-Francois Berube - G - Islanders

TSN's Bob McKenzie is hearing that the Islanders will lose Jean-Francois Berube in the expansion draft.

No reason to ever doubt @TSNBobMcKenzie. So the deal is #Isles 1st, 15th overall and Grabovski to have Vegas select JF Berube.

Oscar Lindberg - C - Rangers

Oscar Lindberg has reportedly been chosen by the Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft.

It was widely believed that the Golden Knights would grab Raanta, but that doesn't appear to be the case

David Perron played decent for St. Louis. A lot more chippy with them too.
A lot of talent to choose from

Adidas reveals new team jerseys - weak

Eh. Adidas owns reebok. I wasn't expecting a major change.

All expected

But **** that stung :(

Thanks MAF. Hope ya tear it up in Vegas

Yep, we all knew it was coming with Fleury, but it still hit hard. Crosby and Hagelin seemed bummed at the award ceremony when it was finally announced.

I was also sort of surprised the Penguins only gave up a 2020 2nd-round pick for Vegas to take Fleury.

So Vegas picked a bunch of guys, now the real offseason starts...got $5.75M burning a hole in our pockets

A lot of haters at that awards ceremony. It makes me want a 3 peat

It is truly amazing that this team got Vegas to take a Goalie instead of a player. It helps the cap by freeing up over $5M, plus it's a position of strength. Jarry is ready to come in and play IMHO. He's an excellent prospect and is yet another young goaltender the Pens have in their system.

A second round pick in 2020? That's almost painless compared to what some of the other teams gave up. I'm looking at you NY Isles. (lmao)
To paraphrase Wimpy from the Popeye cartoons: "I'll gladly pay you three years from now if you take Fleury today.'
Not bad GMJR, not bad.

2nd round pick is high, but in 2020, we will forget about it and then be a tad PO'd when it comes around. lol

Sad to see MAF go, but I think it worked out best for both parties. He wants to play and the Pens need the cap space. Win-win. I do want a three-peat now. So many douchebags out there booing the Pens and saying they are tired of them. How about if they get tired of them one more year? I want the 2017-18 team to be even stronger, faster and tougher. I want to see GMJR work some more magic!

Oh and I'm can't see James Neal being too pleased. Going from a team that is real good/SCF to a start-up franchise. MAF is different, he already has his hardware.

Preds fans are steaming mad for exposing Neal. They gave up their big reliable 20 goal scorer and one of the top 3 players in this expansion draft for nothing.

Sens fans are pissed they lost one of their top 2 D men!

This is the guy we should go after!

Sens lose Methot but will he stay in Vegas?

The Ottawa Senators rolled the dice — and lost — by making Marc Methot available in the expansion draft Wednesday.

Make no mistake, this is a tough blow for the Senators and it’s only going to hurt more if the Knights are able to trade Methot — possibly to a team in the East

James Neal on May 28th:

“Any time you get traded, it’s tough,” Neal said Sunday. “But going to a place that wanted me and believed in me, that’s a good feeling.”

James Neal selected in the expansion draft last night after losing the Cup when the guy Nashville traded for him scored with under two minutes left. Tough times for the Real Deal.

He and Sid can room together on the road. He would be a solid addition to the D corps. Wonder what Vegas would want for him?

Jarry is gonna be legit. His first nhl save against the rags was awesome.

With the draft coming up. I'm excited to see what the Pens do with the roster

Heard that TvR deal earlier. NBCS said, don't expect the roster today to look anything like the roster come October for Vegas.

Vegas' jerseys are pretty terrible.

i kinda like them, no other team has grey, logo looks too much like the Kings...but maybe they wanted it that way

Fleury says he wants a glittery gold mask

yeah, they have lots of moveable pieces - Schmidt- is another guy I'd want, Him and Methot are their best d-men.

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod
About 15 teams (PIT, NYR, etc) have reached out to Bergevin about Galchenyuk at some point. MTL willing to listen as contract talks ongoing

A lot of movement going on. I feel any player wants to come to PIT now
