Penguins *******!

Pitt & Boston Wed

they better win this one on tee-vee

Well, the NHL refs aren't much better than the NFL I guess. They took a perfectly good goal away from the Pens with a bogus goalie interference call and then gave Boston a BS high stick goal.

Much as I agree with both of those points, the Pens played about 30 minutes of lackluster hockey tonight, too.

I know it's only 2 games in with Perron, but another trade or two may be needed to get this team capable of competing going down the stretch with the better teams.

I thought the Pens looked pretty good against the Bruins last night, despite the loss. I came away encouraged, more so than the first time we played Boston(and won). Geno's goal was sick. Sid needs to get his mojo back. We also need one more top 6 forward to really make a serious Cup run.

Mark Madden reporting that a Paul Martin-Justin Williams(LA) trade is on the table. Pens just need to pull the trigger.
What do you think?

Williams is a nice player. Would be a good trade. Vet rental for vet rental. Would losing Martin hurt the defense corps experience-wise?

Maybe the time has come to pass the torch to our fine crop of defensive first rounders like Pouliot and Doumolin.

true and they will deal Martin regardless, but Maata does make things tricky if he doesn't come back.

Sid was possessed in OT! He could have ended it a lot earlier with a back hand, but Price stoned him. Bennett has looked pretty damn good. If he gets his touch, watch out!

That was a hell of a shot by Sid. Hope this is the start of his scoring title run.

Maatta is likely out for the season and will undergo shoulder surgery, according to The Newspaper Whose Name We Dare Not Speak.
I had that three years ago myself and it hurts like a mofo. Wish the kid luck, he needs all he can get this year. Cancer and now this.
(In my case I got a staph infection in my shoulder in the hospital that required two more surgeries and five months in my living room on IV's, home care nurses, etc. which is how I got to 10,000 posts on the old board.)

What's your excuse for 3,000 since the board came back up? I know, things are dead in the mortuary biz, right?

Shame about Maatta......speedy recovery young man!

Obamunism. Bad for the economy. Business is slow at my company. I own the company.

Still in school. Haven't started yet. Being laid up at home for so long is what got me thinking about doing something different and more recession-proof.

yea, people are dying to step into funeral homes.

Penguins handed out an *** whooping 7-2

Mike Yeo will be gone after tonight's implosion. He was on thin ice as it was, but his team looked like crap and undisciplined. Downey took an elbow to the head and Ehrhoff took a knee from Cooke. Both hits should get action from the NHL.

Downie is going to be concussed again

This Perron dude looks damn good! ....and we gave up nothing for him but a pick, what a steal

Bummer to hear about Maatta

#Pens defenseman Olli Maatta will undergo shoulder surgery and will miss the rest of the season.

Same shoulder as before. Brought him back too soon.
Hopefully some of the other young D guys will step up.

Shame....always like Yeo as an assistant but kind of knew he wasn't ready for the big show just yet.

Gotcha...knew all that just messin' with ya and making a weak attempt at some humor. Good choice career wise (I couldn't do it myself, but recession proof it is) but good luck with school.

Downie is going to be concussed again.....and no call. Because he's Steve Downie. Usually it's "two minutes for being named Steve Downie." How'd they miss a gigantically blatant elbow right in the middle of the ice in the zone? By someone who should be watched every bit as closely as he is? Typical NHL officiating bs.

******' A.....great pick up for a pick and a WBS Dman who probably was never going to be a Pen anyhow. Samuelson has a future and loved the connection but he was expendable.

Damn, that kid can't catch a break.

Entire team need a break .... hopefully they've used their entire season's worth of yrujni/ssenllI karma for this year and next.

They have.....it's been a definite bright spot.

Nice game last night against the Wild. Perron looked great.
