Penguins *******!

Maatta is likely out for the season and will undergo shoulder surgery, according to The Newspaper Whose Name We Dare Not Speak.
I had that three years ago myself and it hurts like a mofo. Wish the kid luck, he needs all he can get this year. Cancer and now this.
(In my case I got a staph infection in my shoulder in the hospital that required two more surgeries and five months in my living room on IV's, home care nurses, etc. which is how I got to 10,000 posts on the old board.)

Oh damn staph is a *****!I just got over one. It took a damn month to kill one on my left forearm that was making it's way to china. I've been around gyms forever and never had a problem until now. You had it really bad.

hopefully the wounded get back on the ice in the second half, good to see Downie back at practive

I like what the team is doing with all the new names scoring - and Fleury has been real good - 6 shutouts already, - that means the D is better to me

Bort will have to take Maatta's place

Pens need to figure out how to deal with the small quick teams like the Isles. Up side the PP looks better. Downie can be a nice addition or a complete ******* moron.....needs a shrink session or two.

Pens need to figure out how to get past this Rangers team today.

4-1 now. No hustle or grit in the Pens. Strangely, they look an awful lot like Dan Bylsma's Penguins.

The rangers are just a better team. So are the caps, Canadians, islanders..... We'll make the playoffs but won't go far.

it's just one game - r e l a x

it's barely halfway through the regular season

Perron looks good, at least.

yeah, relax...there's still what, 6 months to go?

Perron was a sweet addition, He has definitely earned a spot on the top line.
All teams go through ebbs and flows during a season. I hope we finish the season strong and confident....especially, our net minder.

<---Pens fan. B.M.(before Mario)

well, if they are going to get run out of the building by our division foes, how long does Mike Johnson have behind the bench? Right now, they look worse than last year's team. The NY teams own us, Philly still owns us and do they flip a coin to see which team comes out of the locker room each night? I think they watch too many Steeler games.

12 goals given up the last 2 games is not good.

I was thinking similarly......when they take a day off they take a day off.

Mmmmm....yeah, maybe not. So far I'm willing to say that Isles and maybe the Rangers are up to the task of beating the Pens but don't know about them being a "better team". I know that's as hard to understand as it was to actually say, not sure how else to say it though. I think it's truly a system thing......the 2 NY teams are smaller, faster and attack relentlessly, attributes which the Pens need to learn how to overcome or deal with. They haven't. FOR YEARS now. It's frustrating as hell. Was thinking about this yesterday....people always say "the Pens need to get to their game." No doubt when you can do that you're better off....but there are going to be times when you can't and you need to be able to adapt and deal with those times and exploit weaknesses of the other teams game.....let them play it but use it. Sid's goal yesterday showed just what they need to do against Lundqvist....get deep and dirty.....they haven't done a lot of that w/o Hornqvist.

They handled Montreal 4-0 in Montreal so not sure what makes you think they're a better team right now anyhow.

Now let's look at injuries.......it's better than it was but face it there are still SWB guys playing here (and credibly enough) but they are SWB guys. Comeau, Hornqvist, Bortuzzo are due back and hopefully that injury / illness train has passed on.

Defensively Letang is having a much better year than last, Fleury had an uncharacteristic game yesterday, losing Maatta hurts and Scuderi seems to be struggling with Harrington probably not the answer from what I've seen....guess we might get to see what else they have or can lay hands on D wise.

Perron looks good, at least.

Very nice addition......and yes, it's early. I'm still all in.

if they can put the team they'd like to have on the ice all at once over the last 30 games, they have as gooda chance as any other team.

Flyers - 4

Edit to say - HI!

I'm ready to see the Pens CRUSH the Flyers tonight.

I expect a 6-2 win from the Pens.

Flyers coach gets fired

Nah. Berube will be around for at least another year. They had a strong finish last year.

Let's drop the puck.

power play looking like ****, but they got a pretty sweet shorty

same ****** Flyer team that were bound to show their ugly faces. Fighting Rob Scuderi? All class.

******* hate the flyers! Just watching this game makes me want to punch someone.
