Penguins *******!

I wish Malkin showed half the amount of energy every game that Ovie has.

Whatever you think about the dude, he brings it.

and Sid, just shoot the puck!

his habit of passing everything off with little dink backward passes rubs off on his teammates and they have nowhere near the skills to make it work

yeah, Shrek had 3 Shrek up the middle moves 'til Opie tried to break Letang's ankle, THEN he figured he might play.

he's a big guy....plays smaller than Letang, who really isn't.

time to trade him.

2 more weeks till the trade deadline

I bet he stays...how much you got to bet?

I got rumors

Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin listed on United Center press box seating chart for #Blackhawks-Penguins.

@DarrenDreger
Devils still believe they're in the playoff hunt, so Jagr trade discussions very temporarily on hold. Still trade bait.

I know that not every shot from the point or from the outside is intended to be on net, but I have never seen a team consistently miss the net on outside shots. I think we're trying too hard to hit the corners of the net. Hell, hit the goalie square in the chest and force him to make a play. Might catch a lucky bounce and get a rebound once in a while.

they have been doing more of this...it was working, but they haven't got as many rebounds lately.

that's how Downie got his goal.

I just wish we had one player that remotely resembled Kevin Stevens' style of play before he got his face destroyed. A grinder in the corners who wasn't easy to move out of the crease either. and he could score.

I'm still holding onto the theory that they're sandbagging their game for the playoffs this time

I can dream, can't I?

This team has leadership problems. Our stars need to step up their game. Malkin seemed to be invisible the other night. The Ovvie slash was blatant, and our response was to self implode. This team looks like a bunch of players thrown together, and rarely resemble a "team". If their play doesn't improve, we may be looking at a whole scale re-tooling in the off season..........with no player off the table.

Agree with the exception that as I stated I thought their reaction to the slash was pretty good (Letang's idiocy not withstanding). I've bitched about the lack of leadership for years. It's worse than that though. There actually might be too much leadership as in too many chiefs.....I wonder sometimes if and how badly the coaching staff gets undercut or contradicted, either in words or play, by any player?

I'm sure that many would wail and gnash their teeth over the loss of a Malkin or Crosby but imo a team that consistently actually competes for the cup w/o them would be preferable to a team that is consistently one and done with them.

There is no real leadership so long as the star players can simply drift through games without facing the same criticism and repercussions as the average player. Malkin, Fleury and Crosby have simply not lived up to the leadership roles needed from each of them, and no one has called them out.

For a more dramatic example, look at the Loafs and Phyllis Kessel. For years this whiny oaf has been a cancer, and only now is it being played out publicly. And while the pissy ****** will get rewarded with a deadline trade, the poor value the Loafs will receive is their prize for not fixing this earlier.

What would Fleury have been worth a couple years back? What is Shrek worth NOW? Sid <<<<< Mario, so the Pens need to stop treating him similarly.

I don't have a problem with Fleury. He is playing really well. He kept them in the games against the Hawks and Caps. Our D is sad and the O have scored 2 goals in two games and 1 goal in three games against WASH. The better teams are smashing us. They have one quality win against DET and have little else to show for anything else. It's only February, I know, but they are not jelling. All the "big guns" are back in the line-up and nothing has really changed.

I have 2 questions about the Pens.

Do they practice? I mean, together? You would never know watching this team lately.

Does Crosby have a clothing line coming out or something? He doesn't seem real interested in playing quality hockey, so something must be distracting him.

This **** is embarrassing to watch. No cohesion, no fire, no grit. They are getting lessons in grit from the likes of Mark Letestu and Artem Anisimov. This team may not make the playoffs. Philly is only 15 points behind. I am sure the Pens can figure out a way to give up that lead, since they have figured out how to give up all the others.

Someone from another team took note that the Pens practice is more intense than the team they covered and this is the norm for the Penguins.

A couple of the radio hosts basically questioned if Crosby's numerous injuries (hits to the head, losing teeth, etc.) basically has entered his head and is a mental block to him ever being a top goal-scorer again.

Better 2nd period. Yes they got a goal, but they need to make it tough on Columbus entering the zone. Too easy. Stretch passes are there all day. Fleury has been pretty terrific. Only reason this isn't a blowout.

If their practices are so great, they need to change something, because it isn't translating to the game.

As far as Crosby, he has been terrible lately. If he is injured, sit. If he is a head case, go start a new business. Either way, he isn't helping.

And for ***** sake, stop the damn blind behind the back passes. Have yet to see Columbus do this. Hell, the Pens are doing it coming out of their zone on the penalty kill. Just stop it. Look where you are passing. Everyone on the team is doing that nonsense. It is well past ridiculous.

Sorry way to lose, on a shorty. Finding new ways to lose. Man, how disappointing.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but anyone see Malkin? Is there an APB out for him yet? That was a beaut of a shorty to give up. Such great timing in the game. Getting more disgusted the more I watch them. MAF was stellar again. Shame to waste a great performance from him.

This team is in big trouble. 3 straight losses and even with all the offensive talent they can't score. Good thing baseball season is around the corner because these guys are not going far.

I think it's safe to say teams are no longer in awe of the Pens

Shake em up!

Trade Kunitz today for any 3rd liner. Sutter and Erhoff too... give away Adams and Sill.

Meanwhile, James Neal is on pace to score 36 goals - I wish we had him back right about now... hate to say it, but Nashville fleeced us on that deal. Orpik looks pretty good with the Caps too, At least they aren't afraid to hit, dirty or not.

Losing Maatta was bigger than anyone imagined. Pouliot is making too many mistakes.

So funny I texted that almost word for word to my son last night....."Do these guys even practice together" was how I phrased it.

Well, to be fair their passing and receiving are pretty ****** even when they are looking so........

Was getting ready to disagree again on the Kunitz thing but at this point I really wouldn't care if they sent the whole ******* team elsewhere. Fleury at least is playing well but he's being hung out to dry by a terrible team.......time to deconstruct.

I'm kind of surprised Mario has been as patient as he is........

Just awful watching the Pens. Almost painful.

Oh well, at least I still have the Wild. Seems they know what Skill and Grit are and can display accordingly.

I've been saying for some time now that it's time to break up the band. At this point, everyone is expendable.
