Penguins *******!

This team can't even buy a goal. Holy hell...haha. I have mentally prepared myself to watching this team perform a very short disappointing playoff run. All you have to do is stick out your tongue while making funny faces and they sink like the Titanic.

yeah - you ******* better give me some karma

Geez, maybe a collapse is in order and they lose the final playoff spot to the Sens or Panthers. That'd be sad, hilarious and fitting all at once. This teams sucks.

Coasting to the finish

circling shooters won't make it - where's Winnik and Spaling in front of the net?

Another loss. Another shutout. Repeat. Rinse.

I actually didn't think they played that bad - they just can't score. Perimeter hockey doesn't win games, no matter who you play

Penguins minus Malkin and Hornqvist = weak.

they played "well", like they did against Boston, but if you don't score, it doesn't matter. Sid is a ghost. Kunitz is taking up a roster spot and why did we trade for Winnik and Lapierre?
I just mentioned the perimeter passing and shooting from the longest possible spots this past weekend was driving me crazy. I understand that we are missing guys, but NJ was missing a bunch, too and they are out of the PO. That is the part that is making me frustrated. We are supposed to beat NJ, even on a bad night. COL, too. EDM came back from a 4-0 deficit at CEC. I don't know what has happened to this team, but I think it points to the chemistry is not there anymore. Too much tinkering and not enough glue.

I can't remember the last time I felt confident this team could come back from a 2 goal deficit.

it didn't used to be this way

I didn't see the game. Heard shots were something like 35-17 Pens. And that is without two offensive weapons. They are getting chances, just not closing. The goals will come.

At least I hope so

They had some chances and shots, but it wasn't that close. If that makes sense? Kunitz had a few chances around the net, but he lost his quickness to finish. Seemed like a lot of skating with little play making. A typical boring NJ/PIT game that spend a lot of time in the neutral zone.

Didn't see this one but my son texted me that it seems we're back to the old clutch and grab hockey that doesn't favor exciting play makers / scorers. It may seem like sour grapes since the Pens have become near bottom feeders of late but I have to agree to some extent. The rules were changed back in the early to mid 2000's to reduce the holding, interference, etc. that led to low scoring games, leading to the amazing highlight hockey of 2008-12. Now we seem to be heading back into the hard to watch garage league stuff of 2000......first goodell ruins football, now bettman can't decide which game he wants played. I'm running out of sports.

Did you ever notice that when Crosby is out for an extended period, Malkin elevates his game and produces more? But when the opposite happens, the opposite happens.

I don't think they lack effort or anything like that. They play hard for the most part. They are just a poorly assembled team. Bits and pieces of recycled players here and there. A new coach and GM brought hope that things would change but we're back to where we were with the last regime. The Despres deal really highlighted it. It's still a team that can't trust or develop young talent. That's a problem. Sid and Geno are propping up a bottom feeder.

A 'veteran group' should've learned the "concentrate on playing and forget yapping at the ref" thing years ago...but their arrogance persists

I actually like those guys - they try hard

Spaling is worse around the net than Sutter and Downie

observe my Predator vision...

Can you all be this blind??

Pens are in a classic "possum" mode.
They are setting people up for a playoff run that may not see them giving up a goal, let alone losing a game.

Just wait and watch.

You think Malkin is better than Sid?

that's nutz

The mercs we added this year just can't score (besides Horny)

The possum mode they are in, is the one where the possum tries to get across the road, but gets hit by a car.

Not sure who the right coach is for these underachievers, but he needs to be found.

It just seems to me that Malkin is able to carry the team without Crosby better that Crosby is able to carry the team without Malkin.

Let's face it, this team is a mess right now. All the teams in the east that are in the playoff hunt are heating up right now, except the Pens.

Say what you want about injuries, but every team has them right now. What this team needs is some discipline, but that's been lacking for many years. Something needs to change, but I don't know what.

I'm frustrated and just venting.

Win 5 in a row and we'll forgot about all that.

hook, I've been venting for awhile now and am waiting for the "you're not a real fan" posts, but I've watched enough Pens games in my lifetime to know when I see a lackluster, vanilla team. It seems like I'm beating a dead horse, but there is no possum mode, no wait until the PO to turn it on. This is the time to gel and start turning it up for the PO. They are far from it.

If they really are turtling for the PO's (and I don't believe that) it's a terrible strategy......you can't flip that switch hard enough to get back into PO mode just like that.

Not to depress anyone...but Edmonton has scored more goals than us in March so far.

Another year of "one and done."

The NHL is slowing down it's game. There is less scoring in general. Not very appealing to the average viewer.
