Penguins *******!

Pens are a strung out cat on crack - they can't play that deliberate game - it goes against their instincts - drives them crazy

It's a revolving door of band-aid fixes and underperforming vets

Just another Pens run to the Cup

maybe they'll get lucky this time

Watched some of the Ducks game last night, Despres was very good, and their coach gave him tons of responsibility. STARTED him in the 4 on 4 OT

Despres, takes a hit, keeps the puck, makes a nice pass up to Fowler on the breakout, Kesler takes it from there.

Game winner. Ducks beat Kings.

I felt very proud of my little Simon

I'm getting the feeling that you have a man-crush on lil Simone.......

Kunitz - Crosby - Comeau
Spaling - Sutter - Perron
Winnik - Ebbett - Downie
Bennett - Lapierre - Adams

yeah - that's ugly

I have no expectations for the Pens. They are what they are. No fun to watch, at the very least.

What they are is Sid, Letang and Fleury and a bunch of 4th liners.

Now Downie goes down with a concussion

I guess it's Megna time

If we drop to the last WC spot, are we sent over to the other division for the first round? Secret plan to avoid the Rangers?

It is possible for a colossal melt down and not make the playoffs at all. This team is WAY worse than last year.

Letang seems to be the lead psycho for this year's PO run......been losing it pretty regularly it seems. To an extent I can't blame him.....the blatant interference that led to his fight last night, as he and the guy interfering were all alone on the ice with Letang possessing the puck so you assume the ref's eyes had to have been on them, went uncalled. It seemed very obvious through my Pens colored glasses at least. Anyhow, when it becomes obvious that the officials aren't going to stop the muggings players are forced to take matters into their own hands. So in effect it becomes double jeopardy.....you either allow yourself or your mates to be illegally nullified all night or take a penalty.

Again, I acknowledge the possible existence of a taste of sour grapes but it is what it is. I have no team left to root for might as well root against those jagoffs in stripes. The NHL semi-officiating is egregiously bad. I just hope his perceived bad behavior doesn't screw him in his chance to win the Norris.

"Kris Letang scored, his first power-play goal in 56 games."

"Pens have not come back from a 3rd period deficit all year"

Scuderi "We just need some puck luck, we'll be OK"

I'm getting the feeling that you have a man-crush on lil Simone.......

I've never denied it

Ducks come from behind again! Despres gets the assist on the game tying goal.

It was the third straight game in which Anaheim erased a third-period deficit to win.

This team could win the cup or miss the playoffs. Injuries or not they are really up and down. Letang needs to shoot more. I don't care if he scores or not, just get the puck to the net especially on the power play.

Interesting...looks like Beau is on the outs, of course they only play him on the bottom lines

Penguins considering making roster changes for postseason

Due to dissatisfaction with the recent play of forwards Craig Adams and Beau Bennett, one or more younger players in the Penguins organization could be given an opportunity to produce come playoff time, a team source told Trib Total Media.

Those potentially being given a chance include: Andrew Ebbett, Kasperi Kapanen; Jayson Megna; Bryan Rust; Oskar Sundqvist; and Scott Wilson.

The Penguins hockey operations staff is in the process of determining who would be given an opportunity first, the source said.

When the Penguins played the Dallas Stars on Thursday, they used a fourth line that included Adams, Bennett and Maxim Lapierre. Those three have combined for four goals in 122 games and none over their past 26.

Megna, Rust and Wilson saw time with the Penguins this season. Megna hasn't played with them since Dec. 31, Rust since Jan. 13. Megna is second on Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's goal-scoring list with 19. Ebbett is third with 15, Wilson fourth with 14 and Rust tied for fifth with 13.

Rust has not played since Feb. 21 because of a lower-body injury. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's leading scorer, Conor Sheary (20 goals), has an AHL contract and is not believed to be a candidate for a promotion.

I agree with Double M. You put Beau on the top line for the next five games. If he doesn't show promise, see ya. Bringing some young guys up wouldn't hurt at this point.

I just don't think anyone playing with Adams is going to produce... he is a literal black hole in the offensive zone. The one goal he scored this year was flubbed off the back end of his stick and took a funny angle that fooled the goalie, but was not at all the shot he meant to take... he is just a done player who never had any skills to begin with.... Bennet is a different case. He is a skill guy being asked to focus on a checking line role. he has no finishers playing with him, unless downie gets time with him... When he was playing with sutter (who is as close to a finisher as he has played with save his 3 or 4 games with malkin, when he put up half his points), Sutter flubbed dozens of prime chances and somehow Bennett took the blame for the lack of production... is just another case of a team thinking all players are interchangeable in roles and playing a guy counter to his strengths

I have said it before, trading Despres will be right next to trading Nasland one day... NHL teams have the player developmental skills of a retarded molerat and misvalue young players the way a mongoose values diamonds

and the Pens are especially good at it...so now we get little hints about Beau being a problem - this sounds a lot like what they did to discredit Despres - while Kuinitz gets a pass after every bad game

Of course Despres is better off now on a real cup contender that plays him on PP's and their top defensive pairing and starts him in OT, while the Pens had him boat-anchored with Scuderi on the bottom

that would be fun - but you know they'll never do it

and oh yeah - his first real year up like Despres - and you want to get rid of him - that's how the Pens are in the mess they are in

They're still swimming in the wakes of Lemieux and Jagr. Because they produced immediately and continued on to stardom every young player must. The real world just isn't like that. So they lean too hard on or pull the trigger on trades of young, skillful players way too quickly.

The answer? Completely overhaul the lines / team with youngsters from SWB just prior to the high pressure scene of the PO's who will then be judged too harshly when they don't match the PO performances of Gretzky, Lemieux or Messier........ Brilliant.
