Penguins *******!

Had to work missed last nights game. Read a tweet from Josh Yohe yesterday said something like since Crosby showed up refs by slamming stick a few games back the Pens had had one PP in 170 minutes of hockey.

They may have to make a deal sooner than expected. The Islanders looked pretty good in those two games. Pens looked disorganized and sloppy. The Duper loss may have caught up to them. Downey is killing them with penalties. Also, it doesn't get easier, the Bruins are up for tomorrow night.

Yeah, the Duper injury seemed to have really effected the team psyche. It definitely effected the 1st line.

Is it just me or is Kunitz is playing the lazy Neal sniper role, without the same talent

can we afford a winger?

sure seems like it. He's been non-existent. That first line has been going through the motions, so it seems.

He's probably thinking that that it's a bit too early in the season to start taking that net front punishment.

And yes we can afford a winger. Unlike the NFL, Duper's money no longer goes against the cap. The question is, who is available at this point. Might have to wait for things to shake out before teams would be looking to unload.

Revisiting this thread's title, I think we can say "Penguins are the Islanders' *******."

losing a back to back, once in OT and once with it tied late in the game is far from reason to panic. The pens need to bring in two top 6 scoring wingers. Scuderi wont be paired with Bortuzzo any more. The Isles are not nearly good enough defensively to handle a multi- line team. they just caught the Pens when their top 6 is a total mess...

Move kunitz down to Malkin, Hornqvist up to Crosby, when Pouliot is ready trade Martin for a scoring winger and deal Doumulin and a pick for a scoring winger prospect or bring KK back from europe... you could send Sutter off for a legit stud winger but then you all but have to bring Sundqvist back if you want a scoring 3rd line...

Until then they should be trying Zlobin, Wilson, and Archibald out in the NHL just to see what they can do....

Pens win against Boston was a sloppy one. Pens still look out of sync. They still have the perimeter cycling offense with no one ever going to the net. Flower looked solid last night. Boston looked like the better team.......and they were missing Chara, Krecji, McQuaid, and Kelly, so it was a team marred by key injuries. I'll take the win, but it is obvious that the current Pens will have a problem beating this team in a PO series.

Hamster, I hear ya, they seemed to be hesitating just a millisecond on shots and passes all night.....just long enough the B's were able to get sticks in and screw things up. BUT, the lines were basically all newly formed and it might take some time for them to synch up. On the upside, Spaling has definitely earned and is showing justification for his promotion.

Defense can not allow guys like Bergeron unfettered access down the center of the zone like they did. They have to separate guys from the puck.

Bennett must be cursed. Feel bad for that guy be a hell of a hockey player if he can stay healthy. Hope he's okay.

Rod, another thing that concerns me in a Cup run, and let there be no mistake, a Cup run is required of this team......is our size. We seemed be be aggressively checking last night, but seemed to always get the worse of it. I like what I see in Depres, but no way he physically gets the better of Lucic. How can we hold up to these teams? They will just where us down.

Agreed. Which is why I said earlier Downey's a waste.....yeah he agitates, but just isn't intimidating anymore. I'm hoping we have some young guns that can make the difference or that we can find a grinder in a trade.

Downey is a ******* loon and has been since junior hockey. It is too bad, because he has great hockey instincts, but every once in a while he just LOOSES HIS MIND!

I am surprised that he hasn't seriously injured anyone yet. I'd bet several teams have maxed out their psychologist's time/budget on him.

It figures, the first game of theirs I get to see in about a month and they play like crap against the 'Canes and lose.

I'm still not all warm and fuzzy about this pens team, they still seem to have alot of the problems they had last year. They just aren't big/physical enough and have been outworked in too many games for my liking. Hopefully they still just need some time to gel/adjust to new system

Along with Jitter's comments, their depth is a huge concern. My son texted me last night that when you're dressing guys like Sill and (arguably, imo) Megna you might be in trouble. I said I'd add Downie to that list.Hopefully Bennett's back soon and I guess we''ll see if Rutherford can work any magic.

That said with the exception of Sid everyone played like **** last night. And the officiating was suspect at best, even for the NHL.

Rutherford will certainly make some moves. The question is, how many and when.

Went to the game tonight. If not for a great performance by Greiss, this game is an ugly loss. The Pens have some issues, and the Canes seem to have them figured out. They just lack the talent to fully exploit those issues.

My sentiments exactly. Pens seem to get out worked every game.

Agree........Greiss is very good back up. The Canes showed that a tight checking style and an aggressive fore check seem to confound the Pens. Can't remember seeing the Pens have as much trouble exiting their zone as they did the last 2.

It's a hockey night in Pittsburgh!
Debils on tap.
