Penguins *******!

Bortuzzo facing a disciplinary review for the hit on Jagr. I thought it was a good hit.

And I thought the 10 minute major on Geno was a bit excessive. I hope the NHL isn't going the way of the NFL.

Yeah, I thought they mentioned that the 10-minute misconduct on Malkin wasn't from the scrum, it was because he was abusing the officials from the box. Still, seemed like it was an attempt to "even up" the game since Jagr got taken out earlier.

Besides get sent to the sin bin, what exactly has Shrek (Malkin) done in the past 10 games? I'm really getting sick and tired of his very long periods of invisibility.

you mean, besides scoring the winning(and only) goal last night? I'm one of the hardest on Malkin, but he has been pretty good lately. Still lazy, at times and takes dumb penalties, but he is playing well. One of the few I don't have a problem with right now.

btw, I think the hit was a tad late on Jagr. I loved it, but it was borderline late. I wouldn't want Sid to take a hit like that when the puck wasn't near him and get his *** knocked out. It happens and I expect Bortuzzo to sit a game or two.

Bortuzzo gets 2 games for hit on Jagr.

The real shame will be when we find out what kind of fine James Harrison is facing for the hit on Jagr...

Agree with all. I wish also that Geno would start believing that the laws of physics apply to him like everyone else. I'm referring to his lame repeated attempts at splitting defensemen....it happens occasionally for faster more skilled guys like Crosby and Mario......but Geno usually tries it in slo mo. And he does turn the puck over a lot. He can be incredible but too often is pretty pedestrian.

Him losing the puck trying to take on the entire team irks me. He thinks he can beat everyone, but loses the puck because he is not as fast and elusive as he thinks he is. He has great talent, but he drives me crazy, at times.

Not a problem, per se, but I think when he came into the league he was 18 and still not physically fully developed. At that time, he was a lot skinnier and faster, and could play the speed game. Several years later, he's really grown into his frame and he's more of a lumbering freight train. In that way, it makes some sense that he's started playing a more physical game - he's got some weight to throw around out there, and if teams insist on trying to shadow him, they'd better do it with a bigger, stronger guy, or else he's going to wear you down over the course of the game, like a heavyweight boxer that grabs and clinches and leans on an opponent to sap his energy.

To me, his biggest drawback is that, for a skill player with supposedly good vision and play-making ability, he often doesn't do a very good job of anticipating where his linemates will be. Thus all the drop passes to no one in particular that end up going the other way.

Pens getting crushed at home in a listless effort. I am now watching Home Alone 2.

The main thing that concerns me about this team is our size. It is apparent every time we play western teams. Unless Rutherford finds us some size, we will never get past Boston in the playoffs, let alone beat the best of the west.

The size issue they know about. They began to address it in the off season but being so close to the Cap, it's going to take time.

Pens trade Philip Samuelsson to Phoenix for Rob Klinkhammer and a conditional pick. No link, saw it on the Pens' facebook feed.

Back to Klinkhammer, though. The 29-year-old has three goals this season and put up a career-high 20 points last season, but that's not his job. He's a big (6-3), physical forward who's capable of playing decent minutes with regards to both zone starts and competition while positively affecting puck possession. That's about all you can ask of a bottom-six player.

He's been a positive-Corsi player in his last four NHL seasons, including so far in 2014-15; Arizona controlled 52.7 of all 5-on-5 shot attempts while he was on the ice, good for third on the team. That hasn't produced a ton of goals — for either side. He's an upgrade for Pittsburgh.

Had to listen to game on radio (work) today. Guess the new guy drew a couple penalties,eh? How'd he do look other than that?

He actually didn't look too bad for being acquired yesterday. He looks like a 3rd liner, maybe can chip in some goals. He seemed to fit well with Megna and God.

Well that loss stung. Nice comeback by the Pens and a very nice effort given their incredibly bad luck with injuries. Doumoulin struggled pretty badly....hoping it was just nerves/newness as highly touted as he was. Sutter is awesome and Geno's working as hard as Geno works. Wish Sid would've given up the body to block the game winner, but then we'd probably be dealing with another injury.

Pens seem to definitely be on ref's **** list. REAL obvious holding the stick late in the game uncalled and an obvious to everyone interference in OT as Sutter (I think) was trying to get to the net. Four on four hockey so it wasn't like crowded ice and the two were all alone.....not sure where refs were looking (sarc).

Ah well, get well soon guys.
