Pens hockey 21-22

Since the last cup win, we have become the Dallas Cowboys of the NHL.

Same old, same old won't work next year. Time for big changes.
I hate seeing our midget forwards bounced around the rink this time of year..

Teams are building toward young, fast and aggressive. The Pens are old, slow and passive.

When the Pens were the team with the speed, they won the Cups. Other teams took that blueprint and are doing it better. As great as Sid, Geno and Letang have been, they’re not good enough anymore. The supporting cast is weak. Guentzel is talented, but he’s a shrimp that gets beat up in physical games.

The Pens certainly have had their day in the sun, and they earned it. No question. But as the NHL has adapted and moved the game to what it is right now, the Pens have clung to players that are no longer capable of the type of game it takes to win in the playoffs.

Sid, Geno, and Letang are Penguins and NHL legends. All-time greats if you ask me. But with maybe the exception of Sid, it’s time to move on. Stop wasting draft capital for one last run that isn’t going to happen.

For some reason the Pens are not being televised locally tonight.
I have to settle for the frozen four. Denver just upset number 1 overall seed Michigan. Michigan has 7 nhl first round picks. It was a good game.

Pens Radio App or 105.9 the x. You aren't missing much though. Rangers up 2-0

We drop this one and we are 8-9 since March 1

Shameful. Some how, there needs to be huge changes
Don't hold your breath. It's been needed for awhile. Granted it's been nice to get to the playoffs the past few years, but would be awesome to get at least to the second round.

Not a chance this year

Complacency. This happened under Bylsma too. The Pens are ran more like a country club than a hockey team. So players feel secure and comfy. There’s no fire.

When the Pens won the cup you had hungry vets with the core group and hungry vets the Pens aquired from other teams like Kessel, Bonino, Hagelin, Hornqvist, Cole sprinkled in with an aggressive Sullivan who had competitive young guys from WBS when he brought up Rust, Sheary etc. They competed.

The Pens are coasting. It’s kinda obvious. It’s up to the players and coaches if they want another the cup. I think the roster is good enough to make a playoff run but that’s more on attitude. I see more complacency than I do competition.

That said just enjoy the core group. We witnessed a damn good run by these guys. I expect when they retire together the Pens will become a pesky team to deal with

What a wild game against the Caps!! 3-2 us at the end of the first. Two late goals for us that were very impossible to make.

14-9 SOGs us.

Horrible ending. They should not have pulled the goalie that soon on that power play.

At this rate they might get swept in the first round again. I am in DVR mode with the games now since they cant hold a lead more than 20 seconds it seems and its too frustrating to watch when they play like this.

I like your optimism MTC but I think it might be hard to replace Sid, Geno and Letang, and oh I almost forgot they had a top goalie all those years too in Flower...

We probably wont see talent assembled like that on a Pens team the rest of our lifetimes.

We don’t need guys to replace those three. We just need players who’ll play as a team. It works for teams like the hurricanes, panthers, vegas etc

I’m ok with the core group of guys riding out on their terms. I’m also speculating so is management.

As long as Poulin and company are still intact in WBS I can see a more buncha no name cohesive pesky Pens.

This team is really hard to watch. They look like the early 2010’s team all over.

I really can't stand Nashville...
