Pens hockey 21-22

Freidman has been a little flaky through the season but he seems to be on a roll now. Hope Dumo is OK but lets stick with the hot hand.
So has Dumoulin. I can see why people think that plus/minus is a misleading stat. He used to make every defensive play look easy. Now he makes easy plays look difficult.

Many say the same about Letang. Dumoulin has been struggling the past 2 seasons imo.

I agree but I'm not sure if I feel better about a veteran being flaky or a FNG being flaky. Much more upside to the FNG if you can weather the learning curve. I have no problem with Friedman. I've loved the intensity he has brought to games over the season and am glad he's getting a chance now. He just gets under their skin and totally gets them off their game. I'm considering getting his jersey because I love that style of play be it in hockey or football (Hines)..

My ol college buddy who is a rabid Rangers fan is totally down on his team that "played so well all season long has not showed up. Pittsburgh is really not that good of a team. For them to make us look this bad is saying something. Either way, neither team would have much luck against some of the elite teams in the NHL right now. I just expected a little more from my team".
New York relied too much on Shesterkin during the regular season. The Pens are kicking their *ss with a third-string journeyman goalie. It's the Rangers who are really not that good of a team.

I see where the Caps lost..Wow..thought they had that game wrapped up.

Guys like Letang and Dumoulin tend to jump up in the play. They do better when their D partner is a stay at home defense man.

The thing is you jump in the play, you have to take care of the puck or it’s turning into a breakaway. That’s why the Pens give up breakaways a lot

True, but Letang still has some offensive capabilities that prove useful in many different situations. Dumo has never been anything close to an offensive threat, even when he was in his prime.

The caps are pretty dinged up. Ovechkin hit a dude on Saturday but he was pretty shook on the bench.

Ole’ Tommy Wilson is also out with a knee injury.
Those guys are great rivals though. That’s one team I know most of their roster cause we see them that much and the fans carry that rivalry as well

One facet that is hard to replace Letang is the guy is just physically in shape. No d man comes close to playing the minutes he does

What an enigma. One minute he is brain dead or trying to be too cute and the next minute he is creating a breakout, keeping the puck in the zone or next to the crease and throwing the puck on net. Definitely a hell of a weapon when he's on his game. When he is off his game, watch out...I honestly think the Pens live or die by how he plays.

Metz brought up a good point...Zucker played two games in a row.. He's sort of an unsung hero who was in on a lot of plays...

This is what domination looks like

Still a long way to go. Hoping the Pens can keep up their game in Game 5 so it doesn't get close. I feel like the Pens are playing against a caged animal that's either ready to friggin snap or become a house cat.

I think NY is done. They’ll come out in front of their home crowd but they have no answer for Sid and his line. Add in the rest of the lines are finally finding their game. It’s a beautiful sight to see

Hope you are right. I'm more worried about the Pens being their own worst enemy and taking their foot off the gas. I think we will know pretty early on how things will go on Wednesday night. I obvioulsly hope like hell we can win on Wednesday and get some time off to rest up, but I'd put my money on NYR to win Wednesday and the Pens to win on Friday.

The Pens are their own worst enemy at this point. This series has been there’s from the beginning. Probably aside from the 1st period in game 1 and Saturdays 2nd period disappearance, the Pens have been surprisingly awesome.

They seem focused again which is good. Regardless just enjoy the ride

I'll try but I'll feel a lot better about it if you'd throw out a lot more negative waves. I'm not really sure how to react to a positive MTC. You have me off my game man.. ;)

Relentless. Besides from the 2nd period letdown on Saturday, the last two games, the Pens are all over the Rags. I thought the Rangers were young and fast, but they are playing timid and I love it. I thought they would have come out desperate and PO in the third period last night, but there was no fight. Have to close them out tomorrow night. Can't give them any momentum or hope to turn the series around.

What the heck happened to Reeves? After the first period in game 1 I thought they might have to set up a triage just to deal with the Pens injuries. Really haven't seen that since. That OT loss seemed to pop the Rangers bubble and give the Pens the momentum.

right, if anyone could get us off our game and get under Malkin's skin, it could be Reeves. Really nothing from him. Maybe their game plan changes in NYC and he throws his body around, but up until now, he's kind of a ghost. Good for us.

One more boys!

Pens playing like their hairs on fire!

I believe the Rangers have locker room issues....how else can you explain the total lack of effort and execution lately?

Wait until Wednesday depending on how the team plays :ROFLMAO:

I agree with everything here, but I don't think they thought the Pens would be playing like this. Who really saw this coming? I didn't and the last time they played against each other, the Rangers pretty much dominated them. They were two teams going in opposite directions. This series has done a 180 and the Rags have nothing for our boys.
