President Trump congratulates Moon on his election victory. He also thanks South Korea for providing a great example of democracy.

"We accomplished a lot having to do with our thoughts on North Korea and very much our thoughts on trade"

Moon says he affirmed Trump's commitment to stabilize the peninsula. He says he and Trump have forged a friendship of "deep mutual trust." He says they both agreed that strong security is the only way to bring peace.

Trump has been invited to visit South Korea later this year, Moon says, adding that the president has accepted.

"I also invited President Trump to visit Korea this year -- and he graciously accepted my offer," the newly-elected Moon told reporters in the White House.

"Mr. and Mrs. Trump's visit to Korea will once again demonstrate not only our friendship but also the intimate bond our peoples have come to foster through thick and thin," he said.
