So lets see... two crappy secondaries, two teams willing and able to go deep... rubber match for the year... i get the feeling this is going to be a non traditional Steelers ravens game

If Bell was 90% I would give us the edge but since he likely won't play and if he does I doubt he is more than 70% of normal I hate to say it but I have this as an even matchup. We got home but no Bell. I don't see high scoring or a blowout winner wins in the 4th with a FG.

Agreed, definitely won't be the defensive battle we're used to. Let's just hope the Steelers secondary can capitalize off another poor Flacco peformance (fingers crossed for 4 - 22 first half like he had in HOU week 16). Looking forward to another good game for Ben, Brown and Bryant with a little love thrown Heath Miller's way.

Prediction: 27 - 17 Steelers (TDs to Miller and Brown, 1 Rush TD by #7).

The Browns gave Baltimore a heck of a game with Connor Shaw at quarterback. As long as the secondary doesn't implode and allow those famous three-play touchdown drives that Flacco can engineer with the deep passing game, I like our chances.

STEELERS, in control by half time....................... when is the last time that happened??? Our defense is as good as theirs, Our offense is head / shoulders above theirs. I take us, by 10+

Love the optimism, but very worried about field position from special teams. They will gain valuable yards/position with every punt and kick. They have much better punter and tucker can out distance kick suisham by plenty. Could be big with expected weather. Don't see shoot out many see. Being one dimensional, hope we can handle their front seven. Please ease my worries. Damn, pitt just botched onside kick.

If the Steelers can manage to contain Forsette look for Flacco to throw deep all day with the hopes and expectations something happens and he can draw PI calls (a Torrey Smith specialty). The Rats just love fly patterns up the sidelines deep but disrupt Flacco's timing and he throws out of bounds. The Steelers need to blow up the Rats O Line.

We are going to smash them. This game has Miller Time all over it. Then when the lbs start to cheat, MB deeeeeppp. **** running the ball, 5 wide all day.

With the weather projected to be cold and sloppy, I don't count on either special teams unit or field goal kicker to be a big factor. I feel like the weather is more conducive to punt or kick returners possibly breaking a big return, but that cuts both ways. The forecast is actually for slightly warmer weather (40s) at game time so the earlier predictions of freezing rain seem unlikely, but if the rain is heavy, it'll just be three hours of misery out there.

Turnovers will be the key to this game. Gotta hang onto the ball.

FYI: predictions go in the official prediction thread.

This is one thing that has not really been talked about much cause so much has been going right for us. Our punting game has me scared if we need this to be a field position game, but if Ben and the boys keep moving the ball we won't have to worry about that. lol

Offense:
The biggest problem with Bell being out is that he keeps the defense honest with his ability to do it all. If they see Harris in, they will key on the run. If they see Archer in, they will key on the pass. I expect us to play into their thinking and then try to burn them with big plays: play action when Harris is in, draws and screens when Archer is in. Im not sure if Tate will see the field after only being on the team for less than a week. Is it me, or is weird talking about a RB named Harris but not Franco?

Defense:
If it aint broke, dont fix it! No, i would NOT out-right bench either Troy or Ike. I think each could contribute situationaly. Troy especially in short yardage and the redzone. My only fear is that if we give both of them a hat, will we be deactivating someone who is essential on special teams?

Special teams:
Contain, contain, contain. If my memory is correct, the only player to have a return for a td against us this year is Jacoby Jones. We otherwise have shut down some of the best returners in the game: Hester, Pac-man and whats his name from KC to name a few. We cant let them have big plays and a short field due to the return game. If we can get our own good returns that would be gravy . . .

All that said the key to this game will be who controls the line of scrimmage. Keep Ben clean and make the ravens respect the run game. Our defense started playing well when the Dline raised their game. Control of the line of scrimmage usually will lead to turnovers one way or the other.

On passing downs I would put Allen in there over Troy....

Ike would get a nice comfy seat on the bench.

For no other reason than I think it is best against the pass..............

let's just get the injury list out there for all to see

Polamalu practiced fully on Friday, as did eight other players who are designated as probable: quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related), tight end Heath Miller (not injury related), cornerback Ivan Taylor (shoulder, forearm), outside linebacker James Harrison (illness), defensive tackle Steve McLendon (shoulder), offensive tackle Mike Adams (illness), tight end Michael Palmer (groin), quarterback Landry Jones (illness).

The only other player on the Steelers’ injury report is tailback Le’Veon Bell, who is out with a knee injury.

Really? Am I the only one who has to notice this ****? This is missing capitalization, punctuation, and proper vocabulary. Just an epic fail.
5 WIDE, *******!!!

The weather is looking wet. That makes Heinz Field a swamp. The Rats are down here in Baltimore already whining about "the worst field in the NFL".
I say good, it will slow the game a bit. It's why it's called "Home Field Advantage".
I just hope the weather doesn't keep the bandwagon Steeler fans home in the comfort of the LayZBoy. Get your ***** in them seats!

"The worst field in the NFL" mixed with the rain is the best thing the Ravens could have hoped for along with Bell being out... They can only win a slugfest against the Steelers in my opinion... On a dry and fast track, the Steelers blow their doors off.

Rain or shine, we WIN!!!! Slugfest.............. don't count out the STEELERS, Harris is an unproven comodetie, but I think he can get the job done. Throw in the pass, keep the D guessing. Maybe the no huddle when right match ups are available. Probably won't need it though, but is an option. The Steelers are the better team, expesially how they have been playing of late.

If you ask me... the ravens have no solution to Miller at all.
they also have gotten by the last few games vs crap QBs mostly single covering the right side deep threats with Melvin, who is a 6-2 4.42 guy... he has speed to keep up and size to knock the ball away, but Bryant is better at high pointing the ball and bigger than any of the wideouts Melvin has faced, and just as fast. I don't think they can single cover him without safety help over the top like they have been doing to others

He's one of my FanDuel RBs for this weekend... I'm hoping for 70 yd. + a TD out of him... I think the Ravens are going to do everything they can to make the Steelers beat them with the running game and he could have a huge day...
