Second Year In A Row

It's been two weeks and I have really looked at the tape between Milroe and Dart...

Firstly, @tapeANaspirin2it, this is SEC love so relax...

Today's NFL requires a two headed QB. Both have these attributes and both have strong arms to make every NFL throw.

I'm talking about both of their collegiate careers so follow the logic - Dart is head and shoulders over Milroe in passing yardage and he was QB1 for 3 consecutive years. Advantage Dart.

They both can move if there's trouble but Milroe is the fastest QB since Lamar or Vick clocking 4.37 on his Pro Day and I have a great source that admits he's faster than that. Advantage Milroe.

Teammate and leadership skills are a draw IMO both kids are smart academically speaking and I don't cringe when either is on the microphone giving an interview.

Everyone knows I'm a Bama homer. Deal with it if you can't but I'm also a fan of the game.

Write it down. Berm selects...

Jaxson Dart at 1.21, if he's there.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, both Jalen Milroe (Alabama) and Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) are vying for the QB3 spot, with Milroe known for his arm talent and mobility, while Dart is praised for his consistent ball placement and mobility.
Here's a breakdown of their strengths and weaknesses:
  • Jalen Milroe:
    • Strengths: Possesses a strong arm, good mobility, and leadership skills.
      • Weaknesses: Some concerns about consistency as a passer and erratic tape.
      • Senior Bowl Performance: Mixed reviews, with some positive showings and some struggles.
      • Pro Day: Ran a 4.37 40-yard dash.
      • College Stats: 2021 Alabama: 41 pass yards, TD, INT, 57 rush yards; 2022 Alabama: 297 pass yards, 5 TDs, 3 INTs, 263 rush yards, TD; 2023 Alabama: 2,834 pass yards, 23 TDs, 6 INTs, 531 rush yards, 12 TDs; 2024 Alabama: 2,844 pass yards, 16 TDs, 11 INTs, 726 rush yards, 20 TDs.

    • Jaxson Dart:
        • Strengths: Consistent ball placement, good mobility, and a strong arm.
        • Weaknesses: Some concerns about his ability to challenge tight windows and account for multiple defenders.
        • Senior Bowl Performance: Mixed reviews, with some impressive throws and some inconsistencies.
        • College Stats: Broke Eli Manning's school record at Ole Miss for passing yards (4,279) and led the FBS in yards per attempt (10.8) in 2024.
        • GPA: On track to graduate from Ole Miss in May 2025 with a 3.71 GPA in general business.
        • Draft Projection: Some analysts have him as a potential first-round pick.
Key Differences and Comparisons:
    • Arm Talent:
Milroe is known for his strong arm, while Dart is known for his consistent ball placement.
    • Mobility:
Both are considered mobile quarterbacks, but Milroe's athleticism is a key selling point.
    • Consistency:
Some analysts question Milroe's consistency as a passer, while Dart's tape is considered more consistent.
    • Senior Bowl Performance:
Both showed mixed performances at the Senior Bowl, with some impressive throws and some struggles.
    • Draft Projection:
Milroe and Dart are both projected as potential top-end quarterbacks in the 2025 draft, with some analysts favoring Dart as the QB3.
Hey Berm…..I know you probably watched every game of Alabama. The one stat that jumps on at me between the two are the interceptions.
Milroe 16 TD’s to 11 ints. With 205 completions @64.3% completion rate.
Dart. 29 td’s to 6 ints. With 296 competitors @ 69.3 %

That int difference is huge especially considering Dart threw 91 more competitions. Do you see Milroe improving on his passing game or is he more or less run first.

My worry with Dart is once again every Tom,Dick, and Harry figures we are interested in him. I see Quite a few teams are interested as well. His name pops up repeat . I don’t think he lasts till 2nd round. ( not that we have a second pick). I believe someone will trade up to get him in the 1st. Shall be interesting to see if someone trades ahead of pick #21 figuring that we want him.

Exactly. Plus... the Manning family is NOTORIOUS in "getting their way" on selection day.
If Pittsburgh maneuvered themselves into position to be able to take Manning in 2026.....no doubt the entire Manning family would advise him to stay another year. NO QB would want to come to Pittsburgh to start their career with Tomlin as HC here with the offensive scheme he employs.

Or draft a QB in round 1 and trade back into the 2nd for a DL. The Steelers could take Dart in Rnd 1 or be dumb enough to grab Milroe there if they let Tomlin in the draft room.

Sidenote to Mike Tomlin: you are definitely invited to spend draft weekend at the Magical mystery Peyote retreat (I got you on the guest list) to get your mind right for the upcoming season…ya don’t have to waste those three days in that tiny stuffy draft room. Let the grown ups take care of the business stuff.

Dart is actually the dumb play here, he’s going to have a career like Gardner Minshew. If he falls to the 3rd, where he belongs, I could live with it, if they trade up for him it will make 2022 look like 2004.

You lost me at “Senior Bowl Performance”. Whatever happens after one week practicing with new teammates and coaches should be dismissed out of hand.

This is the least interested I have been relative to the Steelers and the NFL draft since 1971. Of course at that point I was still a kid, more interested in Matchbox cars, playing baseball, and avoiding lawn care duties so there's that.

Then 1972 and the Immaculate Reception happened and I was hooked. It has taken 8 consecutive non-losing season worthlessness to return me to my former idyllic state.

We’ll agree to disagree that it’s a “dumb play”, that he will look anything like Minshew or that he belongs in the 3rd.

Not saying I would take him at 21, that would depend on who else is available. But I would take him over Milroe and many other players.

And no way he lasts til 3rd…and he’s better than KFP by a country mile.

He may very well be QB2 in this draft as far as NFL careers go (although if drafted by Tomlin that’s a helluva hurdle to overcome-I’d need to know his hurdling skills are to project his value here)

The most favorable comp I’ve seen in a draft profile so far is Nix, but also have seen Minshew, Ponder, Wentz. The lack of elite traits is the reason for my KFP comparison, neither have any and thus don’t warrant a first round grade, IMO.

How many complete games of Dart did you watch in his college career?

I don’t give two craps about comps you’ve seen and which comps you deem favorable tbh.
Most guys that make these comps are hacks.

Rarely have I seen any of the pre draft comps equate into a reasonable post draft comparison where I’m like “yeah he really nailed that one”

I’ll trust what my eyes have seen from him on the field over some hack throwing out names to compare him to in search of clicks. I know my QB assessments have been better than many of the “experts” for nearly a decade running now…cuz I’m a bit of a college football junkie and actually watch many games.

Posts like this one you made make Cooch your comp as a poster

I didn’t watch him, NFL scouts watched a ton of him, though, just echoing what I’m hearing. Another huge concern is that he tends to come up small in big games.

No need for personal attacks because we disagree.

All the tools definitely increases your chance for success as a NFL QB , but tons of those guys have failed miserably. To me the most important aspect of the QB’s success is where he ends up and the staffs ability to create a system for his strengths. Take Purdy and Jackson are good examples. Neither was in the top QB’s of there draft.

The wind is out of my sails for any of this stuff. I'm in whatever mode.

I predict we draft: Nick Emmanwari 1st we trade for a 2 draft Milroe 3rd Deone Walker 4 rd Jack Sawyer lb 5rd Donte thorton wr I think if you package up Pickens and highsmith could get a second we can cover highsmith being traded that’s mt my prediction! GO STEELERS!!

If we trade BOTH Pickens AND Highsmith, we better get more than just a second.

Took you long enough. I stick around for the political section back and forth, SN Jukebox, and the Penguins roller coaster. Also the $1.00 wells on Tuesday night at the SN Bar and Grill.

Clown-lin is dumber than a 1981 Camaro lug nut.

At least you admit you didn’t watch any of him on the field,
Yet you have all these opinions about the kid?!?!?

“Echoing” what you’ve heard others say.
Thus my comp of you to Cooch as a poster could not be more spot on. Classic!!!

Just love when people have all these opinions of a kid (or a game) without having watched…you do realize how asinine that is right?

What would be refreshing and make your takes more interesting is them being the least bit backed up by something you’ve seen. Echoing and repeating other people’s garbage takes is just silly.

Watch, learn and form an opinion…it’s what the good/valuable posters here do.

I don’t care if we differ having seen the same game/player…but people who come with regurgitation of other’s takes is simply talking out of one’s ***…completely useless.

My takes differ from many here, but they are MINE. I watch a ton of ball and form opinions on what I’ve actually seen…I know, crazy concept huh?

At least now I know to pass by any of your posts as they are just echoes of the same stuff we’ve already heard from the talking heads.

I will congratulate you on at least being honest in your lack of any real knowledge about the kid you grade without watching him play.

As far as coming up “small” in big games do yourself a favor and watch him play a bit, I’ll recommend starting with his performance vs the GA Bulldogs last year (a pretty big game) and see what ya think of him from a take backed by your own eyes. It’s a good starting place to familiarize yourself with the prospect.

Do you watch games on TV or break down film via All-22? And do you do it professionally? How many of the QBs have you deeply studied? Where are your detailed write ups?

BTW, you can park your condescending, backhanded compliments in a deep, dark place. I’m here to talk ball, not sit at the feet of the self-proclaimed experts hoping to gobble up any crumbs of wisdom that happen to fall to me.

I watch a ton of ball on TV, attend many games and watch a good bit of All 22 when accessible

And yes I do it professionally, make quite a bit of money at it. It’s called investing (or gambling by the uninformed chumps who just follow their gut and can’t investment bank from a wealth of knowledge to exploit the spreads).

In this draft class I’ve seen extensive bodies of work from several of the top prospects (if it’s Big 10 or SEC-100%)

And I’ll be condescending to your “Cooch like”
Posts regurgitating garbage all day every day and call ya out for being a cheap 2 bit hack poster like Cooch every time you’re speaking out your ***…which seems to be your primary language.
