Senior Bowl Thread

notice he still hasn't mentioned cope...

it because he ignored Loudermilk so long

I have an open book with the "others as well". But you are right, Loudermilk was suppose to be recond with at the time but Cope delayed and delaayed and delayed................

I wonder if Cope realized Loudermilk made the team.......... ?

He probably desired to be interviewed and waited and waited until he finally fell out of his chair.

Oh well there is no sense at crying over spilled milk.

They have a ILber that gets pushed out of the way by a strong wind. They are down two CBs and a SS. Tuitt more than likely is dust in the wind. They have some things to like on D. But help is needed. Not sure they are close to dominant.
Bush is speedy. If a NT can require double team or triple teams at time. Bush doesn’t need to make the tackle. Just disrupt the play, TJ and Highsmith create havoc as is. TJ and Cam damn near took the KC game over for a quarter. Having a dominant NT really does make a difference. The thing with the secondary is if the front 7 consistently gets pressure. Opposing QB’s are getting rid of the ball quicker than wanting too which helps the secondary

No it's probably more likely because he is a contrarian attention *****. I don't think he even has any actual opinions. Instead he tries to think of things that will generate the most drama with the hometown yinzers and says whatever that is. He's Pittsburgh's version of Skip Bayless, nothing more. He adds absolutely nothing to the local sports scene.
He says it cause he knows the locals are going to call in. That’s his money. He doesn’t care if he gets yelled at. He’s getting paid for shock value or to create unnecessary drama. I find angry callers entertaining actually

This defense is a NT away from being dominant. The Steelers linebacker corp is a speedy one. Imagine the blitz formations they could pull off with Davis demanding double teams. Not to mention you also have Heyward on the Dline. If Witherspoon can improve and Minkah comes back. That front 7 pressure should make that secondary a turnover factory

The Steelers were 32nd in the league (that would be dead last) against the rush, and allowed 5 yards per carry (also dead last). One NT is not going to magically turn this into a dominant defense. You're kidding yourself.

And inside linebackers (speedy or otherwise) most certainly DO need to make tackles.

I see Ridder threw 2 Td's, how did he look? I wouldn't pass on him after the first and definitely the second if he is still there and we haven't drafted someone.
I thought Ridder acquitted himself well in the Senior Bowl. I think he might be the kind of guy who could be drafted in the second or third and turn out to be a fantastic pick for somebody down the line. He's added a lot of upper body strength since he was a freshman, looks much more like a potential NFL quarterback now. Could still get bigger and improve his mechanics, but I like his mobility and toughness. Wouldn't mind at all if the Steelers took him in the second round.

I didn't see that but I'm not getting paid to evaluate or pick these kids. He made some nice reads I just don't see what everyone else sees---not longterm that is...
Since you can't see a difference between Haskins and Willis, and Pickett reminds you of Duck Hodges, that's not surprising. :waving:

I'm just not interested in them taking a let's hope QB at all. I'll wait patient for someone who looks more sure thing. If they take say Ridder if he sucks it will take three years to decide that. Then two or three for the first rounder to develop. That could be 6 years. No thanks. Build the team around the future QB. PS. Funny Madden had an article yesterday basically saying the Minkah trade was a bad idea which is essentially what I said 3 years ago. An it isn't like Minkah isn't very good. He is. But if they were what they should have been that year (a bottom 7 team) maybe they have their QB now.
Or maybe they have Dwayne Haskins.

When it comes to football, Mark Madden sure knows a lot about hockey.

Two points: First, the Fitzpatrick trade was not a "bad" trade. The Steelers acquired an All-Pro, an ELITE player. Chances they draft a player that good are basically zero.

Second, the Steelers would not have drafted a QB in the 2020 draft, even if they had a top-10 pick. Anybody who believes that is just not paying attention. Jesus, the 2021 draft was DEEP in QB talent and they did not draft a QB in 2021.

It wasn't two rounds deep. And by staying the course of we can win now. No they had to add Claypool instead of eating it the year Ben got hurt and drafting. Now they are two years behind and it's a shallow pool. So it will be three at least.

The 2021 draft had Kyle Trask taken at pick 64. If he were in this year's draft, he is a top-15 player. How much different would the Steelers be today if they took Creed Humphrey at 24, Kyle Trask at 55 and Spencer Brown at 87?

Yes. But instead of doing anything long term like that they put lipstick on the pig pretending they were contending with Ben.

They anticipated with his size and speed Claypool would turn into a dominant No. 1 receiver. He hasn't and probably won't. That set them more behind than drafting a receiver at that point. The same thing with Bush. He was suppose to be a stud ILB. He didn't look like an NFL player last season. They also took two of the least important positions with their top two picks last year and ignored the trenches, but I have to get over that one.

No worries our Oline is still trying to get over it.

Yeah it's pretty much a mess and in my opinion any quick fixes will be like quicksand. Outside of firing Tomlin they at least have to commit to improving in the trenches.

He didn't suck but he didn't impress either dickwad...
Sure, dickweed, there's nothing impressive about 6-6 for 89 yards and a touchdown. You're ******* clueless.

It's obvious that Najee, or rather the position of RB was a mistake. It's pointless to draft a RB with a high pick when you have a **** OL. We saw this year that upgrading the RB does nothing. Unless that RB is a freak like Barry Sanders, it's a wasted pick.

QBs take time to develop and they have long careers. So it makes sense to grab your QB whenever you can. Doesn't matter if the whole rest of the team sucks. Get they QB in the mix whenever you can. If he has to sit for a year, so be it. If it takes him 3 years to pan out, so what if he's going to play for 15+ years?

But a RB? They can play immediately. There's a short learning curve so there's no advantage in drafting one and having him on the bench like with a QB. They have very short careers and only so many carries before they break so you are just wasting a year of his career behind a **** OL.
