So here's how it's looking now...

Yeah as long as we win we'll be in a pretty good spot, I then wonder who we'd prefer to root for in the Cincy-Denver game, but no matter who loses its win-win for us. If Cincy wins then Chiefs has a shot to win division and we can move to 5th seed, if Denver wins we'll have a shot to win division and move to 3rd seed. Lets get this game!

Edit: now to make things even more complicated.. Believe it or not we can actually still get a #2 seed with a bye. What would need to happen...

We'd need to win out.
Cincy lose out.
Denver lose to us and the Chargers but beat Cincy.
Chiefs would need to lose 1 game.

But dont hold your breathe for all this to happen.

Its possible that Denver goes 11-5 or 10-6 and not win the division if KC goes 11-5. We would hold a head to head tie breaker over them. The way I see it currently is if we win out we get the #5 seed against Houston the #4 seed. KC would be #3 and Denver #6 (at 11-5). Jets would be out due to a loss at NE.

Ah yes, the AFC south, and how to sort out that mess. The only division harder to figure out is the NFC east...but anyway. So Indy gets POUNDED by Jax, Houston loses to the Patriots and Hoyer gets his second concussion of the year. I'm going to make a bold prediction, the Jaguars win the division at 8-8.

The Jets definitely could lose to NE and/or the Bills. The Chefs best chance to lose will be against the Raiders. The Raiders look awesome one week and terrible the next. It will depend on which team shows up. Either way, we need to beat the Donkies this weekend. I definitely think we can and should.

Chiefs didn't look that hot on Sunday. An injury-decimated Chargers team was about two feet away from sending that game into overtime in Kansas City. The Oakland game will be tough for them; it's a huge rivalry.

Huh?

If that's the case, don't they have to beat them by a certain margin?

Strength of victory refers to the combined winning percentages of the opponents that a team has beaten. It has nothing to do with points scored / points allowed.

It's also a division rivalry, which are always tougher to pick.

Much like our last two games, lest anyone go putting ye olde cart before the horse!

Always got to be the party pooper.

The last two scare me more than this Denver thing. That's where we could really screw the pooch. Good teams get by that stuff, lets see what we're made of.

If we beat denver, lose to Johnny Football, and miss the playoffs that will sting for a long time

It would vaunt Johnny to hero status in that stink town, instantly, which is why it can't happen. Their D is worse than ours. Yardage per game we are about even, but they give up 27.5 points a game compared to our 20 ppg. That's pretty significant.

Their offense is devoid of almost any playmakers to speak of - probably the worst team in the entire NFL at the skilled positions. But as we all know: anything can happen in the NFL.

I LOVE the ignore feature. POP who?

Best case scenario, if we beat the Broncos, then the Ravens in week 16, and N.E. beats the Jets week 16, we can then actually rest our starters week 17 against the Browns and it wouldn't matter if we win or lose. we'd already be locked into the playoffs.

This is utter nonsense. We should absolutely be scared of the Broncos. Best defense in the NFL. Offense with D. Thomas (who exactly from our secondary is going to cover him?), E. Sanders at WR and V. Davis at TE. The Kubiak stretch run offense (and playaction off the stretch run) has given our defense problems for years (and Kubiak knows us well from last season as the OC in Baltimore).

Just look at that defense, people. Vonn Miller and D. Ware rushing the passer. Two great CBs. There's talent EVERYWHERE on that D.

I really don't understand why the point spread is 6 points. This game scares me much more than the Bengals game, even though we are home for this one.

it would be perfect if it ended up with the Texans winning their division and the Steelers in the 5th slot so they would come to town to kick the Texans out of the playoffs

Denver: Loss, Win, Loss
Cincy: Doesn't matter, Loss, Loss
KC: 1 loss
Steelers: Win, Win, Win

This gets us the #2 seed and a first round bye.

That would be amazing.

All seems pretty plausible except for the Rats beating the Bengals in week 17. That would probably take some huge special teams plays as well as defensive TDs for the Rats.

Denver losing at home to San Diego in week 17 seems pretty implausible, but you never know.

I think that's more likely to happen than Baltimore beating Cincy, the Chargers defense At least tends to show up from time to time, force a few turnovers and that can change the game. On the other hand, Baltimore has just been crap all year.

One can dream, but lets keep to the here and now. STEELERS just need to win out and let the rest fall into place. My good friend is under the disalusion that the chiefs are pretty good. He is buying into the hype of the wins but forgetting the talent they are playing. He uses the win over the steelers as a GREAT power house accomplishmnet. Never mind the injured not playing players. His dose of reality will kick in in round one of the playoffs.

Salute the nation

Alright...

One can dream!

Week 16 ~ Browns Beat the Chiefs | Steelers beat the Ravens | Patriots beat the Jets | Broncos beat the Bengals

Week 17 ~ Steelers beat the Browns | Ravens beat the Bengals

That's the 2 seed.

That's it. Lots has to happen, Most unlikely thing is KC losing, but... It could happen.

You're going to have to throw in the Chargers beating the Bronco's Week 17, Bronco's have 4 losses at the moment and we have 5.

Yep, you're right. I neglected that one. Thank you for the correction.
