France has a very large Muslim population, and portions of the country already operate under quasi-Sharia (Islamic) law.
France's decrepit city suburbs are becoming 'separate Islamic societies' cut off from the state, according to a major new study that examines the spread of Islam in France. Muslim immigrants are increasingly rejecting French values and identity and instead are immersing themselves in Islam, according to the report, which also warns that Islamic Sharia law is rapidly displacing French civil law in many parts of suburban Paris.

Muslims rioted for 9 days in France in 2005, causing tens of millions of dollars in damage, and resulting in 2,900 arrests. Unfortunately, a significant portion of the Muslim population approves of violence against those who "slander" the "prophet," and also justify attacks on civilians. In fact, Muslims in the United States identify more than 20% of their religious brethren as supporting "extremist" views.
A significant minority (21%) of Muslim Americans say there is a great deal (6%) or a fair amount (15%) of support for extremism in the Muslim American community.
Further, 68% of Muslims in Pakistan believe that terrorist bombings of civilian locations are often or sometimes justified, 28% in Egypt believe that as well, and 35% in Lebanon. Note that these numbers don't include the bastions of Islamic extremism, such as Iran, Somalia, etc.
These numbers are not good. I realize that some protest, "It's just 8% of Muslim Americans who find civilian murders justified," and "Hey, the vast majority of Turkish Muslims do not find terrorist bombings justified," but that view is simply naive.
First, would we be unconcerned if "just" 8% of Americans found lynchings of African-Americans "justified"?? Good heavens, I hope not. 8% would be one out of twelve - in other words, one for every jury pool in America.
Therefore, as far as Muslim Americans are concerned, one member of every jury of such citizens finds terrorist bombings of civilians - i.e., civilian murder and mass-murder -
justified. How can we not be scared of those numbers?
Second, when 18% to 68% of the population in the
non-extremist countries find such bombings "justified," then the situation is profoundly bad. Add in the extremist nations, and I think that approximately 50% of Muslims find civilian murder and mass-murder "justified."
