Between the 40s teams run a throw away hope they give it to us run play on third knowing they will go on 4th. I think it's a terrible idea and invitation to lose. Run a riskier 3rd down and if you get zero or negative......punt the damn ball.

I could be wrong, but:

From the 40 to the 40 teams will run a run play or short pass play on first down and if its 2nd and short they take a shot downfield, then run a short yardage play on 3rd down knowing if it fails, they will go for it on 4th...

He is saying take the deep shot on third down, when teams are geared for a run, then if it fails, just punt it...

In essence yes. Not necassarily a deep shot but something that gets a first down. Not a throw away run against a stacked box. It's same as the Steelers inside the 10. Let's have an obligatory run on first down. Or if they pass on first down and are unsuccessful certainly an obligatory run on second. You can't run hope plays they do not work.
