absolutely none of this rambling paragraph makes an iota of sense.
1. Mitch was brought in before Pickett "when Pickett wasn't even a twinkle in Tomlin's eye"
ok...
Alot to unpack here:
1. It is a pretty good idea to pay attention to conjunctions like "AND..."
2. The Steelers brought in Mitchie to be iron to sharpen the iron that is Kenny Pickens.
****I think the Steelers' intentions changed when Pickett fell to 20.... That's called "making adjustments;" something Tomlin has been accused (wrongly, obviously...) of not doing....
I think the Steelers were confident in letting Mitchie be the "iron to sharpen the iron" that was Mason Rudolph... That's why they didn't go for a bigger name at QB like Deshaun Watson or Jimmy G...
When Pickett fell to them.... they adjusted, and the competition became 3-way... I don't believe Mitchie can win the starting job, and as I've said before, MR knows Canada's offense better than any QB in the NFL, making him the best QB2 for the Steelers in the NFL...
So either Mitch was brought in without Pickett being in place (hint, that's correct) - or the Steelers signed Mitch to help Pickett along after Pickett was here (hint, that's incorrect).
****Both are correct, as I stated above... It's hard to conceive this if you are trapped in the prison of two minds... Just like you have difficulty comprehending my brilliant points...
Tomlin made adjustments... Mitchie came in to compete with Mason for the starter, Kenny's availability made it a three-way...
3. Rudolph is not the best backup QB in the league. Any league. NFL, USFL, XFL, Indoor... no.
I explained it above....
4. Whoever doesn't start will be #3
So if Pickett somehow wins the starting job, they'll put Mitch at 3? Is that what you're insinuating? That's what you said, but there is no way in hell that Mason's got the #2 job firmly in his grasp. His status as a Steeler was shaky as soon as Pickett was chosen in the draft.
*************I didn't insinuate anything... I stated that as my opinion, period...
5. Ben didn't think a 3rd round QB was enough to replace him. Where did he ever say that? He was irritated about the selection of Mason since he was coming off a 12-3 record, having thrown for more than 4200 yards and 28 TDs. he openly stated that he didnt believe the pick would provide immediate help to a team with Super Bowl aspirations... not that Rudolph could ever (EVER) take his job.
Go find that yourself... In fact, the article is reposted on this forum...
6. Neither Mitch, Pickett nor Mason are "replacing" Ben. Ben retired.
If Ben is retired, someone has to REPLACE him at QB1... That isn't qualitative, it's quantitative, unless the Steelers plan on running a 10-man pistol offense, which I don't recommend...
7. Mason was not chosen in the second round, no matter how many times you attempt to change history in saying it.
**********That's been corrected.... If you want to beat that horse, you must be bereft of more to say, so why bloviate?? Also, if you want to harp on that point.... you know exactly in which article Ben's statement about being replaced was... Are you just bothering me to bother me??
