Who was the ******* who said he put in too much time doing mocks and stroking his dick for us to draft a guy like Archer in round 3?

I didn't realize how excited some here are about Archer, who would've guessed?

I could of made a new thread but chose to put it here. If Archer can master punts i think this will be his most immediate way to contribute right away. Alot harder for teams to keep it away from him on punts then kicks if he proves dangerous. Most teams will test him to see if he catch the ball till he burns someone anyway. The most intersting thing I picked up from reading this is how Tomlin tested Antonio Brown in 2010 by sending James Harrison full speed at him while he caught punts. I guess Tomlin does do some coaching every now and then.

I missed this gem when you first posted it and it is a great post. I did not know that was part of the punt training for Brown. And that explains why he fair catches punts with no with in ten yards of him still.

Lol he probably still has flashbacks of Silverback running full steam ahead at him

From a Dejan Kovacevic article

DRI ARCHER

He’s the consensus pre-camp pick to run away with the Baron Batch Award for greatest hype, and chances are he’ll earn a good bit of that. When you’ve got 4.2 speed, some of the best scouts had seen in any NFL draft, you’re going to run away with a lot of things.

What’s more, Tomlin just couldn’t get enough of the kid at OTAs and minicamp. One day, he’d line up at tailback and head up the middle, the next he was at wide receiver. Wherever he went, the constant was the head coaching tailing him. “That’s it, Thirteen! I see you!” was as commonly heard a phrase as any on the South Side.

That’ll be fun, but here’s hoping Tomlin and Todd Haley don’t pile up too much too fast. Natural speed still needs to be accompanied by natural instincts on a football field. Overwhelming him with multiple chapters in the playbook as soon as he gets to Latrobe won’t help anyone.

“I’m not worried,” Archer assured me when I raised that topic a couple weeks ago. “The more different things I do, the more dangerous I believe I can be.”

Just go easy. On the hype, too.

Can the little guys come up big?
Dri Archer isn't even 5 feet 7 but he was drafted in the third round because the Steelers timed his combine 40 at sub 4.2. That will make him the fastest player in the NFL. Tomlin wants to make the running back a dual receiving threat, but Archer didn't show much without the ball last spring. "I can get a 4.6 guy to do that," Tomlin hollered as Archer came up short on yet another deep ball. So Archer's receiving skills will certainly be a point of emphasis for the offensive coaches this camp.

Just curious, other than the "put your name here" jersey, are there any ARCHER jerseys available? Yet?
& NO, i'm not looking to buy one, unless.........

• Archer's strong start continued Sunday with a pretty cutback run that resulted in a substantial gain. However, Archer wasn't perfect, and Roethlisberger let him know it. Archer dropped a pass in the flat during receiver drills. “You can't score if you can't catch it. You can't get a first down if you don't catch,” Roethlisberger said.

that Ben, always such a deep thinker. I am not an Archer fan, but Jesus- how about giving advice instead of pointing out the freaking obvious.

Sometimes the advice is the obvioys. Slow down son. First things first catch the ball.

Have you heard about this Archer kid? anyone know anything about him. could he make the team?

When he is in a pattern, it will be almost impossible for the defender not to hit him in the head. 15 yards even if he doesn't catch the pass!!! Give up your body for the team!!

With our luck, the ball will get knocked out in the collision, ruled a fumble, the other team will recover and score, and they'll assess 15 yards against the opponent on the following kickoff for the hit to the head. This will happen 6 or 7 times throughout the season, but inexplicably only to us.

if i adjust my settings, we've gone almost a full page in this thread without idioteque whining.
