Where were they going to play any RB drafted?

Who said they had to draft a RB? They have other positions like CB, DL, WR, OL, TE and LB that they need help with. Hell people are talking about bringing Harrison back because there is no depth at OLB. But that's par for the course because even after the draft there is no depth at most positions.

C'mon Vader...we have like 23 ILBs now! It's starting to show how much they like Blake at CB too. I couldn't understand the comment they made when asked why they didn't draft a CB higher (they said they were really happy w what they have!???) Right now, we are thin at OLB (we have some depth/future players at all other positions). We might need a "bridge" at DE until/in-case Tuitt is not up for the task right away. (maybe Diesel). We should be good at S with Mitchell, Allen, Golden and Thomas PLUS Thomas will be able to shore us up at slot CB where we have Ike, Gay, Allen and Blake. I'm okay w that. Our thinnest position is at OLB. We have 2 starters who may or may not turn in better than average performances. (neither have a history of consistent production).
On offense, we look to be weakest at WR (at least right now). We only have 1 experienced WR who has had any playing time w Ben in this offense. The rest are totally up in the air. It 'shouldn't be too difficult to duplicate Sanders production with Wheaton (although he's not done it yet). Cotchery's production/value is going to be more difficult to duplicate. We have some guys who can block (but not catch) who can play slot (without his size and ability to separate) who have experience (but not in this offense). We basically have a bunch of "projections" at the position. I give Moye and J.Brown as much hope of being productive as the others just because of their familiarity w the system. It should be interesting. I like the fact that Heath should be back at full strength which makes us automatically better at the TE position. Palmer/Spaeth/Branch should fight for time at #2 which is better than Paulson/Palmer/Adams combo used last year until Spaeth got back. I think we're better at RB just because we have 2 bangers who have 'pedigree' we didn't have last year. We are better at OL than last year because we have Pouncey and Munchak. Add to the fact that we have some depth (w playing time) from last year and the addition of Wes and we should be better.
Not sayin we shouldn't strive to be stronger w our depth but we have improved at each position, IMO except WR and OLB. Add Diesel to bridge at DE and we are better there. Add Deebo to bridge at OLB and we are now better there. The only thing left is at WR which was a weak position last year and could be better IF the players can acclimate to our offense faster.

I never mentioned ILB. I don't understand your issue with my comment. This team has bodies but little depth anywhere. Just plugging in a body is easy but when they don't even know who the starters are at certain positions then you know the depth is below par.
So forget value as they see it and reach??? The player they were going to take they still got. I just dont know what else they were suppose to do. They might not be right about Archer but at least they stuck to their board.
And im on record for saying i would have taken Desir or Bryant there. Didnt warm up to the pick until i watched some game film.

If I'm being converted at all (and Archer is not on my "what I would have done" board), it's the whole Warrick Dunn thing.
I don't think I realized how small and fast Warrick Dunn was when he came out in 1997. He ran a 4.28, which is pretty damn fast (like Archer) for a guy with that short of legs. Dunn was a pretty damn good professional. If someone can convince me that's his upside, then maybe I'm on board with the pick. But there are a ton of ifs with that. And Dunn was a division-I stud at FSU playing against NFL talent. Archer was not.
I want to see him line up at tailback and make teams think we are going for a trick and then just run the power-G at them. That's what I want to see. **** the trick play ****. Line him up like any other RB and see if he can handle the beating.

No. Your link provides a different weight than what you told us, which you weren't confident in posting to begin with. And it provides a random listed weight, which we all know rarely corresponds to a guy's combine weight.
I'm not going to quibble over two pounds.. just that some choose to make sure their stats are in line before they get all pissy that no one's listening.

I agree with this. I think he's viewed just like McCluster has been viewed: a movable chess piece to find his position, but a backfield guy first and foremost. It would definitely explain why RB3 hasn't been filled, even though we've kept a glut of RB bodies in recent preseasons, And I think when Archer gets his snaps, they're going to be giving it to him behind the line. Even if he's got a receiver number and lines up in the slot, his touches will be manufactured as an extension of the run, as opposed to asking him to try and negotiate a secondary. I like that. It's what the Vikings did with Cordarrelle Patterson as a rookie. He was super-athletic and super-raw, so they gave him kick returns and manufactured his touches. 22 of his 72 targets were behind the line. The Pats and Saints of course use that to a lot of success, finding explosive scheme guys and showcasing their strengths while never asking them to do anything beyond their skillsets. Much, much rather that be our Archer project than pretending he's Wes Welker and making him a slotman.

I think we are better at all positions except OLB and WR (for the most part). I don't know if EITHER Worilds or Jones shows up in any meaningful way this year. BUT, like I said, who was there in this draft after the first round that was a lock to play OLB well in the NFL? There aren't any FAs either...except Deebo, who is the top rated FA OLB who is not yet signed. Go get his *** before someone else does. It's either that or go w 'no sack' Carter or 'lucky to get a sack' Moats. Hell, I'd be happy to see Baxter or Phillip Hunt.The market is slim pickins for OLBs this off season and the 2015 draft doesn't look much better. We gotta have a plan right?

Not sure if he can take the pounding. But I do think they need to line him up and pound it a reasonable portion of the time!!!! If not, the "trick" plays won't have the desired affect.

An underrated skill for RB is the ability to avoid big hits. Great vision gives you this ability. Archer has great vision. He sees would be tacklers and avoids big hits because he sees them coming. His coaches in college talk about this and you can see it on film. I would bring up other RBs who have this ability but then I would get he's not so and so... Thinking im comparing when all im saying is they share a similar trait.

If that's being "scolded" no wonder the team has been so soft lately. That article and video contradict each other. Tomlin didn't scream or yell, just said finish it 10. Nothing but typical rookie style lessons there. Watching the video, he could have easily said the same thing to Moore (a vet), or Wheaton (2nd year)...

Every WR in that video did the exact same thing as Bryant after the catch.
I think it was just Tomlin yelling at a rookie and a reporter overheard it and ran with the story (for something to write about). OTA's are pretty damn boring and you have to come up with something.
