The Coronavirus thread

Must....defeat...Donald....Trump.

James Carville: "It's the economy stupid."

Dems been rooting on MSM, publicly and privately for a recession.

VOILA!

Six Ways to Sunday.

Wish me luck. Heading to North Carolina first thing in the morning to pick up my son from school. I have to outrun a ton of travel restrictions along the way. Should be interesting to say the least.

Psalm 121:8: "The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."

I'm not a doctor, but has anyone tried more cowbell?

You just made me LOL

As Bradley Nowell would say, "I'd like to hold her head under water."

Just saw this, glad I caught it. Saw them live once before he passed.

This is a 10-minute video but worth your time if you have it (and you may right now). This is a typically mild-mannered doctor from Wyoming:

If you watch one thing on Dems blocking coronavirus relief, make it this. Here's an interesting study of flu death rates from 2014 to 2017 in Italy published last year (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1201971219303285). It seems that Italy experiences above average death rates from influenza, therefore the Italian death rate for Coronavirus is probably a similar situation. Currently the deaths from Coronavirus are actually only just over a third of their annual winter deaths from influenza over the last four years.

The key findings of the study were:

In the winter seasons from 2013/14 to 2016/17, an estimated average of 5,290,000 ILI cases occurred in Italy, corresponding to an incidence of 9%.
More than 68,000 deaths attributable to flu epidemics were estimated in the study period.
Italy showed a higher influenza attributable excess mortality compared to other European countries. especially in the elderly.

I'm still happy to see that precautions are being taken especially in terms of people diagnosed self-isolating or being quarantined (I've changed my tune about the Aussie government's call for people to dob in people breaking self isolation - too many ******* idiots in this country with the she'll be right attitude who think they can carry on as if nothing's happening). It's still too early to tell where this thing is going in the long run. We probably won't have a real idea of whether its just this year's version of the flu, or this century's version of Spanish flu for another few months. We're still at the stage where only one-third of known cases have reached a conclusion, as more than two-thirds of infections are within the last 14 days.

One thing I'd love to know is how does the combined death and infection rates for coronavirus and flu for this year compare to the same time last year on a country by country basis - I'd bet decisions aren't being made using that information, which they probably should be.

The Surgeon General said, "I want America to understand this week, it's going to get bad,.".

Nothing like a measured, specific, data rich comment from the nation's top medical authority to calm the citizens. I think this was some sort of scare tactic to address what he said next, "Right now, there are not enough people out there who are taking this seriously,". Regardless, it's irresponsible comment from an authority in a time like this when people are already irrationally worried.

You know what, he's right. Me and so many others, even on this board, see it as it is, a new strain of Corona virus. Now, I'm not going out and licking door handles and going to an old folks home to eat lunch and play Rummy. But I'm not running around a grocery store hoarding canned goods wearing a respirator and gloves either. Shutting everything down is an over reaction. I want to see the number of businesses that file for bankruptcy after this bullshit. I get the feeling that it's going to make me sick.

The tinfoil hat part of my brain has been wondering if the government is overreacting or if they know more than we do and it could be worse than we think.

He was referring to the many people out looking at the cherry blossoms in DC this past weekend. Not everyone is acting irrationally, and some are acting irresponsibly.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/22/germany-low-coronavirus-mortality-rate-puzzles-experts

By latest count, Germany has 30,000 cases and 130 deaths -- or several weekends of mayhem in Chicago when the weather warms up.

Going to keep saying it to anyone who will listen: Look at baking soda-water and Spanish flu, and how much mineral water and seltzer the Germans drink as a national staple. Arm and Hammer advertised its baking soda as a cold and flu remedy in the 1920's.

Nothing profitable or sexy about that though from a CDC, FDA, and Big Pharma standpoint.

Or what if when they keep screaming at you to look over here, there's something else going on over there?

It may be too convenient that everyone is home and not able to assemble with the transformational events taking place by dictate. These are dangerous times when, to quote George Washington, "government is a dangerous servant, and a fearful master."

By the way, who is this hack and how does someone so young become SG when people like some gray in the beard as is said with a trusted physician?

New Coronavirus Stimulus Bill In Congress Creates U.S. Digital Dollar

I write about blockchain regulation and policy.

As the markets continue to drop and the U.S. looks to Congress for agreement on a massive stimulus package to save the economy from impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, the newest offer by House Democrats includes a very forward-looking kind of stimulus: the creation of a ‘digital dollar’ and the establishment of ‘digital dollar wallets.’ In what will send shock waves through the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, particularly for those following central bank digital currencies around the world, this signals the U.S. is serious in establishing infrastructure for a central bank digital currency.

Both Speaker Pelosi’s ‘Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act’ and the ‘Financial Protections and Assistance for America’s Consumers, States, Businesses, and Vulnerable Populations Act (H.R. 6321),’ introduced by Chairwoman Maxine Waters of Financial Services Committee, introduced these concepts today as a way of delivering the economic stimulus payments to U.S. citizens.

The bill establishes a digital dollar, which it defines as ‘a balance expressed as a dollar value consisting of digital ledger entries that are recorded as liabilities in the accounts of any Federal Reserve Bank or ... an electronic unit of value, redeemable by an eligible financial institution (as determined by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System).’ Additionally, a digital dollar wallet is identified as ‘a digital wallet or account, maintained by a Federal reserve bank on behalf of any person, that represents holdings in an electronic device or service that is used to store digital dollars that may be tied to a digital or physical identity.’

A mandate also requires all ‘member banks’ establish a ‘pass-through digital dollar wallet’ to all customers eligible for the stimulus. Member banks include those banks that are ‘members’ of the Federal Reserve and regulated by the Fed. Additionally, ‘Non-Member’ state banks - those that not members of the Federal Reserve and regulated by the FDIC - could opt-in to offer pass-through digital dollar wallets as well.

The Federal Reserve banks themselves would also make available a digital dollar wallet to any U.S. person eligible for the payments as well. Additionally, the U.S. Postal Service would aim to help unbanked individuals and/or those without proper ID to establish their identity be provided a digital dollar account, and would set up ATMs for customers to access their funds.

Never let a good crisis go to waste to quote Rahm Emmanuel. It was clear they would push for a cashless currency in wake of all the "dirty" money in circulation.

very interesting - so the Federal Reserve (which has no oversight and has never been audited) would act as a "bank" for people who cannot provide ID to prove who they say they are. I see absolutely no issues that could possibly arise from something as pristine and pure as this.

Did you know that China uses smart phone technology now in concert with its 5G Network to monitor and conduct business transactions?

Guess who helped them set up their terrifying Super Surveillance State and obtain biometric data on all subjects up to and including organ harvesting of political prisoners and dissidents? Facebook and Google

Guess which city in the world has the highest concentration of 5G towers? Wuhan

Guess what's coming to America soon? 5G
