The Enemy of the People Thread

Holy cringe Batman!

The corporate media - a bastion of vigorous examination and a defender of the American people - are ALLLL over this ludicrous stupidity by a Representative from New Jersey named Donald Payne. The guy was on a Zoom meeting with other House members, including at least two women, fell asleep, woke up and pried his fat *** out of a chair showing his giant gut hanging over his boxers.

We are paying that ******* idiot. Maybe he could get out of bed and get dressed for a House Meeting? No doubt corporate media will tear him a new *******, just you wait.

Just wait. You'll see. Just a minute now. Give it another few minutes. Just. You. Wait.

Wait, he's a (D)imbo and person of augmented coloration and pigmentation ("POACAP")?

Orwell was a classic liberal and finished his masterpiece in 1948 (juxtaposed the last two digits for the title). He wrote the book as a warning to what he saw occurring in the Soviet Union, and as a counterpoint to the burgeoning socialist mindset in the UK. If you have not read the book or have not read it recently, I STRONGLY encourage you to do so.

The line SIL cited is stunning in its accuracy, simplicity and depth. The process took a lot longer than Orwell feared, but he directly predicted exactly what we are seeing today: tearing down monuments that celebrate America's history, casting heroes as villains and villains as heroes, renaming buildings and streets, destroying great icons of Western art and literature, elevating rot and garbage as "art," and endlessly remaking everything - art, science, genders, marriage, religion, love, literature - into some grotesque parody that supports the vile, dishonest, corrupt millionaires whose only job seems to be destroying America to make themselves rich.

It's been a long time, but Animal Farm is a must-read as well. Even if it's just Cliff's notes version or on audiobook. So relevant to what's happening today as well, about farm animals who revolt against their human owner, thinking they're going to create a utopia where everyone's 'equal'. They end up eating themselves and the farm ends up in total squalor, eventually under the dictatorship of one of the animals, a damn pig. I think it just speaks to the notion of how absolute power corrupts absolutely, and is done so so creatively. The U.S. was created to have very limited big government and it's incredibly coincidental that it is (or was) the greatest nation on earth.

BTW, there's a character in the book named Benjamin, the Donkey. Wise beyond his years (and quite the looker they say), he was the most all-knowing of the group. Thems just the facts of the book.

There were several books written during the early to mid 20th century that conveyed a tyrannical big brother or the fall of the American culture because of technology. If you haven't read The Veldt by Bradbury you should. It's a short story warning people about the nature of luxury and technology. Even some songs like "The sound of silence" by Simon and Garfunkel have a similar warning. BTW if you haven't seen the cover song by Disturbed you're missing out. Great video and it express more passion than the original IMHO.

I always suspected that I was more equal than others.

Your love and admiration of donkeys is admirable, Donkey.

Did you ever see the live version on Conan O'Brien? Chills.

And I've heard of a couple, similar to the book you mentioned, and some recent ones like William of Ockham and The Path to Tyranny (I think that's the title).

Yes, I've seen the live version. David was actually sick when he was on Conan. Still gives me chills when I watch it. Sadly I'm not sure how many people actually know what the song is about. I've watched some "reaction" videos and the people love the song but have no concept of what it is really saying. It's like watching a dog trying to contemplate algebraic topology.

The technique + the passion/soul = incredible. And how he did that vocal fry so effortlessly, also incredible. As for the meaning, yeah, it's a bit darker & deeper than I think some realize - but when Draiman did it, I think it helped a little with the message. Meaning IMO, Simon & Garfunkel's version is great, but it's a little confusing (I guess) when it sounds so pleasing to the ears.

I remember someone on a reaction video (who I think got it) that said S&G were warning us, while Draiman was more just pissed/raged about it.

Podcast host Joe Rogan slammed CNN’s Brian Stelter this week over Stelter panicking that more people watch shows on YouTube than watch his CNN show, which has suffered a catastrophic drop in ratings.
“They didn’t even understand the way they were describing it,” Rogan said. “They were describing it as if they’re entitled to viewers. They were saying, ‘There are people on YouTube right now that get more views than this show.’ This is because the market has spoken and your show’s f***in terrible. Well, Brian Stelter’s show keeps slipping and slipping and slipping in the ratings.”
After the guest noted that Stelter was “the worst,” Rogan responded, “So is Don Lemon’s. It’s the same thing. Everyone knows they’re not real. They’re not real humans.”
Rogan also slammed Stelter over a recent remark that he made on CNN where he asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki what the media was doing wrong.
“How about Brian Stelter talking to the press secretary, ‘What are we doing wrong? What are we doing wrong?’ Like, hey motherf***er, you’re supposed to be a journalist,” Rogan said.

“They’re obviously being told a certain amount of what to do,” Rogan later noted. “And maybe he’d be an interesting guy if he had his own f***in podcast that you can rely on his own personality and be himself. I don’t know. I can’t imagine doing that gig.”
The Daily Wire reported on Wednesday:
The ratings of CNN’s “Reliable Sources” plunged to their lowest level of the year this weekend, even as host Brian Stelter continues to dedicate every episode to criticizing the credibility of Fox News.
In all, his show has lost 72% of its viewers since its high point on January 10.
The new nadir came one week after Stelter all but begged White House spokesperson Jen Psaki to tell him how his network could better conform its coverage to the Biden administration’s talking points.

The latest episode of Stelter’s show failed to attract 1 million viewers for the 11th week in a row. A mere 752,000 total viewers tuned in to watch Stelter critique the media — usually heavily focused on the more successful Fox News — on Sunday. That’s down from a peak of 2.7 million viewers following the January 6 Capitol riot. … Stelter’s numbers look worse when measured by audience members who belong to advertisers’ most coveted demographic, the 25-to-54-year-old viewer. Only 129,000 people among that cash-rich cohort watched.

Sad when ******* Putin is the guy pointing out how ****** up American media has become.

Ironically, he undoubtedly is over the ******* moon with the idiocy that the U.S. is devolving into. Unless, of course, he's more far-sighted than OUR country's moronic leadership and he fears China becoming overwhelmingly powerful to the point NOBODY can do **** about them.

S & G are very high pitched soft singers. It was really the only way for them to sing it. Draiman made it his own (with the help of the drummer who told him not to make it a hard aggressive song like they generally do). His version is more clear and powerful. The clear understanding is that people aren't communicating. They talk but don't listen and hear but aren't paying attention to the words of others. The neon god is the T.V. The song is actually more apropos today than it was in 63'. It's a great song but Draiman's version is so much better and conveys the spirit of the song better IMHO.

We can add Faking Bogus Investigations and the DOJ to the enemy of the people list.
Almost all the institutions of government are corrupt. The FBI and DOJ are just the tip of the iceberg. There are entire agencies that should be abolished as well.

Yep. Let's put it this way; somebody name a government institution that's transparent and not wrought with corruption/red-tape, and we'll listen.

Go.

Safe to say Glenn Greenwald is on a roll here (read this timeline if you have the time). Apparently he's going to go into more detail on Tucker Carlson's show in about 45 minutes.

I like your interpretation but I interpreted it as being silenced and all the noise it takes to effectively make it happen.

I took the neon sign as technology in general but at the time of S&G the medium was the TV. Interesting if you look at the progression of the programming from the 50s to the 60s and 70s. They say that TV programming was in response to the people but I don't agree. I think it was a huge tool to influence thought and actions.

We went from very wholesome shows that portrayed a nuclear family to where just about every episode had a blowhard or inept white guy as the father. Or shows that contained nothing but violence. Our society haa been programmed to what it's become now from day 1.

I think the best thing a young family can do for their kids is to switch off the TV, cut off the internet and home school their kids.
