The Steelers won't be picking in the top 18, which is pretty much where you need to be to get a quarterback who has the potential to become a franchise QB. And even then its a roll of the dice.

Yes, some QB's were picked after this spot, but if you look at the top 12 QB's in the NFL which is pretty much what you need to win a super bowl, most were early to mid first round picks. Almost all of the top 12 Qb's today were among the first 32 players picked. And those who were not such as Carr were picked early in round two.

While this QB class looks promising ( overrated so far if you ask me ) a number of teams with lousy QB's are very high right now. Top Qb's prospects won't last long. Don't yell at me, I wanted to Trade Bell in the pre-season when he had value. Our returns with him this year are 3.6 yards per rush and 5.3 yards per catch. Low number for ANY starting back, let alone a guy making what he is at a very replaceable position. Now Bell's value is at an all time low.

Anyone who saw Dobbs knows he was pretty much the worst QB in the pre-season, and that's saying something. Landry Jones is an average back up at best. Do you want to go there now? We are 3-2, and the entire AFC minus Kansas City looks a little suspect.

So go ahead and jump ship on Ben after one very bad game if you must...fans need to support him because without him, even if he is in decline there is no hope and the window for another super bowl is slammed shut.

The fans that are booing Ben now are the same types that booed Bradshaw when the Steelers were winning.

Keep playing like they did against the Bears and Jag-offs and they will be.

Yeah I'm not sold that we'll be picking outside of the top 18

Huh? Which is it, first 32 or early to mid first round?

Rogers? No
Brady? No
Bree's? No
Wilson? No
Prescott? No
Cousins? No

Where is it written Bell has lost value? You've already forgotten that he basically singlehandedly took out the Ravens last week?

He's just getting into form, don't look at stats from a small sample size, his arrow is pointing up as one coach likes to say. Ben's arrow is pointing neither up or down I think he's just plateaued, that's all.

Ben has gone as far as he's going with the limitations that were placed on his growth early on and the decline of his physical abilities. Is he still a viable QB? Absolutely.

Let me ask one question that will settle this once and for all, and put it all into perspective:

Is Ben a better QB than Kurt Warner? We ALL know the answer to that, yet with our talent at the skill positions we should also have 'the greatest show on ketchup bottle turf'...and we don't. Why is that?

Warner was trained as a system QB and the results showed, the same thing with Brady. Neither one has the best athletic ability but they make up for it by playing within the system. We have a cowboy that has been reigned in (sort of) late in his career. There are no surprises here.

To default, here are the top QB passer ratings in the NFL among the starters. How many were picked outside of the top 32 picks of the NFL draft? The players in orange were picked before the 18th pick.

Only three of the below were picked after the 32 overall pick, and Cousins to me has to prove he belongs. So yes, if you want a top 12 QB, you pretty much need to pick that player in round one. Reaching for a Qb in round two usually fails, and I felt Carr who was picked after the first 32 picks was under rated. He had great value for early round two...these days Carr would not last that long.

Sam Bradford
Alex Smith

Tom Brady
Drew Brees
Kirk Cousins
Aaron Rodgers
Derek Carr
Deshaun Watson
Cam Newton
Carson Wentz
Matthew Stafford
Jared Goff

You left off Prescott which would give you a 50/50 ratio.

That is pretty even odds Coach that the Steelers should be able to find some talent. But I think I might prefer a Cousins type of free agent QB with the talent on this team.

Well both Brees and Rogers were picked in the top 32.

Prescott is doesn't throw for a lot of yards or have a high completion percentage.

He's 20th in passing yards per game, 21st in complete percentage, and 17th overall in QB rating. He also has a very good OL and skill players around him. Not sold on him being a top 12 QB. Put him on an average offense, and I think he goes down a peg or two.

Very similar to John Elway who is Bens Idol. We need to take the ball from Ben similar to the way the Broncos did. And ask Ben to make throws when we need them.

You ******** on Dobbs again? Terrible first preseason game, improved and won games for us as the preseason continued.

It took Jones years to show improvement. Dobbs only took weeks to show improvement.
