The Official Thread Dedicated to "Trump Winning"

Jobless claims unexpectedly fell last week, according to data from the Labor Department Thursday.
New filings for unemployment benefits fell by 4,000 to 218,000. Economists had expected a rise to 225,000.

The four-week moving average of claims, considered a better indicator of job market strength because it evens out week-to-week volatility, also fell.

Continuing claims for state unemployment benefits dropped to 1.7 million, the lowest since December 1973.

You never know but I doubt Stewart can win here. I seriously doubt any Republican can win a general election in this state these days. VA has been overrun by Democrats over the past 20 years. In my lifetime it has gone from a somewhat deep red to purple and now it's definitely blue. The rural areas are still conservative but with Richmond, VA Beach Northern VA, Charlottesville and Roanoke being large enclaves of Democrats, that's a lot of blue votes. To show you how bad it has gotten, Hillary won VA.. :(

Because Northern Virginia is a company town and the company is the Federal government. Therefore no one is going to vote for the party of smaller government.

I wish NVA would just splinter off into its own state, and quit tarnishing the good name of the Old Dominion. Call it South DC and leave Virginia the hell alone.

End for Merkel? Power struggle with minister threatens to collapse coalition

German Chancellor Angela Merkel faced a tense showdown Thursday within her divided conservative camp over the flashpoint issue of immigration that could threaten her political future.

Merkel was confronted with an open rebellion by her hardline Interior Minister Horst Seehofer, long a fierce critic of her liberal stance on refugees who wants to toughen border controls.

Seehofer has demanded as part of a new "migration masterplan" that German border police be given the right to turn back all asylum-seekers without identity papers and those who are already registered elsewhere in the European Union.

Merkel rejects the idea, fearing it would be seen in the EU as Germany going it alone and that it would hurt over-burdened frontline Mediterranean countries such as Italy and Greece.

I think Merkel is bought and paid for by George Soros. The world has a lot of Muslims and if we're going to have a one-world government then we have to get the Muslims on board.

Wouldn't be surprised if most of the EU is heavily influenced by Soros. He's all for no border control and the one country who has strict immigration control is Hungary and they want nothing to do with him.

HISTORIC!

On June 16, 2015, businessman Donald Trump stepped off a golden escalator and officially announced his candidacy for the presidency

South Florida's unemployment declines: 'Best time to look for a job,' economist says

South Florida’s unemployment continued to decline in May over a year ago, while jobs swelled in most industries, according to data released Friday by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

“There was a solid increase in the state, a continuation of the story where Florida continues to lead the nation in job growth,” said Gus Faucher, chief economist for PNC Bank who follows employment in the state.

The monthly report is a positive indicator for anyone looking for work, experts say. For example, college graduates this spring should find more jobs in the region, state and the United States than many who walked for their diplomas in the years before them.

This is the best time to look for a job in 12 or 13 years. People who are graduating in 2018 are very fortunate,” Faucher said.

Sean Snaith, economist for the University of Central Florida in Orlando, said: “It’s about as good a labor market that you could hope to graduate in. Overall, you couldn’t come out of college at a better time.”

More opportunities also exist for workers who want to jump ship, as well as for the long-term unemployed seeking to get back into jobs.

Broward County’s jobless rate in May was 3.2 percent compared with 3.8 percent a year ago, the state said Friday. The Palm Beach County rate was 3.3 percent compared with 3.9 percent in 2017. Miami-Dade County’s rate was 3.9 percent compared with 4.7 percent a year ago.

Broward added the most jobs in the region: 10,600, an increase of 1.3 percent over the year.

The county added the most jobs — 4,300 — in construction, followed by 3,600 in professional and business services; 1,600 in financial activities; 1,000 in trade, transportation and utilities; 700 in other services; 400 in government; and 200 in manufacturing.

The county lost 700 jobs over the year in leisure and hospitality; 400 in education and health services; and 100 in information.

Didn't want to start a thread for this and also didn't know where the hell to put it, but on this day:

Colonials first fought the British at "Bunker Hill" in the Revolutionary War and,

The Statue of Liberty was delivered to New York harbor in the United States (in hundreds of copper pieces) by France as a gift. Yeah, big whoop, but actually kind of cool these pretty important things happened on this day. Carry on.

And I'm reading Fox News' twitter feed obviously.

Back to winning...but first, a message from our opposition.

Howard Schultz quit as CEO of Starbucks Tuesday to possibly run for president as he warned Democrats to stop acting like socialists. Schultz may be the one Democrat who could give Trump a tough race. Never underestimate a man who got away with charging twelve dollars for a cup of coffee.

OK..now that that is over with....

President Trump traveled to Singapore aboard Air Force One Monday to prepare for his peace summit talks with Kim Jung Un. While en route to Singapore as well as en route home Trump flew safely over Vietnam without being shot down. He loves to show up John McCain at every opportunity.

President Trump: U.S. won't become a 'migrant camp'

President Trump challenged Democrats to “come to the table” to fix the country’s immigration system, saying Monday that the current battle is over whether the U.S. should have borders.

Speaking at the White House Mr. Trump said the U.S. “will not be a migrant camp.”

He said if Congress can find agreement on a way to update what he called the “worst immigration laws in the entire world” it could be a trendsetting move for the rest of the globe.

“Just remember — a country without borders is not a country at all. We need borders, we need security, we need safety,” Mr. Trump said.

Italy bars two more refugee ships from ports

Italy’s interior minister has sparked a new migration crisis in the Mediterranean by barring two rescue boats from bringing refugees to shore

“Two other ships with the flag of Netherlands, Lifeline and Seefuchs, have arrived off the coast of Libya, waiting for their load of human beings abandoned by the smugglers,” Matteo Salvini, the leader of the anti-immigrant party the League, wrote on his Facebook page.

“These gentlemen know that Italy no longer wants to be complicit in the business of illegal immigration, and therefore will have to look for other ports [not Italian] where to go.”

More than 600,000 migrants have made the crossing from Libya to Italy in the past four years, and Salvini’s stance reflects frustration that the rest of Europe refuses to take its share of arrivals. At least 13,000 people have drowned trying to reach European shores.

The French president, Emmanuel Macron, accused Salvini last week of cynicism and irresponsibility, but at the same time refused to allow the Aquarius to dock at French ports.

“Malta and Italy didn’t open their ports, but then most other European governments didn’t help either,” said Izza Leghtas, a senior advocate at Europe for Refugees International. “They are all passing the ball among themselves.“
