Browns to give Vince Young a look during voluntary minicamp
The Cleveland Browns have brought in quarterbacks Vince Young and Tyler Thigpen for a tryout, according to general manager Ray Farmer. The quarterbacks will participate in pre-draft voluntary minicamp begins on Tuesday.
Young, 30, last took a regular season snap in 2011 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a member of the Green Bay Packers in the 2013 offseason program and filled the same duty with the Buffalo Bills in 2012. In his career, Young has 46 touchdowns and 51 interceptions. He was a Pro Bowler with the Tennessee Titans in 2006 and 2009.
Farmer said the Browns have been following Young throughout the offseason, and the former top-five pick did some things that caught the organization’s eye.
“He’s been productive,” said Farmer. “He’s had success in the National Football League. We wanted to take the opportunity to get a chance to see where he was. Minicamp seemed to be the appropriate time to [bring] him in.”

Thigpen, 30, is entering his seventh season from Coastal Carolina and has previous stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills. Thigpen started most of the 2008 season with the Chiefs, tossing 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Farmer did hint that both quarterbacks have a skill that the Browns are looking for in a quarterback: mobility
“I think it is a piece of the puzzle,” said Farmer about having a quarterback who can scramble. “I wouldn’t say that it’s the top piece. They both are mobile, very good athletes. They both have had relative success.
“I think Kyle [Shanahan] would say he likes a quarterback that’s mobile. The offense is definitely going to require the quarterback to do different things – move, play outside the pocket to some degree,” said Farmer.
Brian Hoyer and Alex Tanney are the other quarterbacks on the roster.

I hope they pull the trigger on this one.

I hope he comes in and says Cleveland is a "dream team".

I wonder what this guy's career could have been if he wasn't a complete moron.

Right? In the back of my mind I'm thinking he could really be another "Touchdown Tommy" situation.

The guy had all the tools but lacked the knowledge to use them to his best ability

I hope he gets his new "chance" with these browns. Really I do!!! When he lights it up, only briefly, but enough to get the browns hopes up, His light will fade and maybe the browns will fade too.

when did they start to shine?

I for one hope he never joins the Browns.

He already wanted to kill himself once.

Playing for the Browns could push him over the edge...

Same here, I don't want them even to consider not taking a QB with their first pick.

He probably already spent his signing bonus before getting signed. He's real good with finances.

Guess he must have been good enough, through mini camp, that they signed him. Welcome to the "NEW" Vince young BROWNS!!!!! Great slogan!

they are made for each other

All I remember about Vince Young was how stress free our game against them was in 2010. Young was so bad, threw 2 interceptions in his first 10 passes and was yanked in favor of 38 year old Kerry Collins after getting down 13-3.

That was a toss up game too. We were underdogs, on the road with Ben serving his suspension. We had Dennis Dixon starting (who got hurt and Batch came in). We talked a lot about how important it was t split those first 4 games without Big Ben. And Young basically handed us the game inside 20 minutes.

I would play against Vince Young every day and twice on Sundays because I know he will hand me 50% of the games just on his stupidity.

Older, slower, can't even call them has beens, cause they never was. Lots of hype and that is it.

I'd rather retire than play for the Browns...

What will the Johnny deflatedFootball fans think if Vince Young wins the starting job over thier boy?

With the kind of money those guys get paid I'd say it would be a safe bet that any of us if given the chance would play for what ever organization wanted to sign us. That would be a dream job for most of us.

The Stain fans need someone to lobby for when the Johnny Football experiment goes horribly wrong......which we all know will.

Until Johnny Football beats our *** and Copy-cat Tomlin decides that's the future of football.

But is it really worth the staph infection??

Some players don't have a choice. Play foot ball, weather with the cleveland browns, or NO JOB, isn't a hard choice. Similar to you being a seasoned veteran at your current job. Boss says, we are shipping you to (fill in last place you'd go), or terminate you. Remeber your wife / kids / house payment / car troubles / etc. all ride on this decision. The Ghetto kid / life time being told you the best kid / idolized kid / etc. sometimes, don't have the sense, but want to be in the NFL so bad, regardless of team who picks them. I try to never question or hold against the player, whom is picked by the cleveland browns.
