Lotsa explosion plays for us...says Tomlin....points to LeVeon Bell's screen pass in the 2nd QTR then we rode that wave for the rest of the game.

No real injuries other than Marcus Gilbert with a Concussion

Tomlin says its good to be on the good side when it comes to explosion plays!

Tomlin on the teams play tonight.....good energy and effort tonight by everyone....says Tomlin

Tomlin thought our O-line did a nice job on JJ Watt during the game.

Tomlin says when were doing what were suppose to be doing.....good things happen.

By God he released a practice squad player this week. Some stones were flat-assed turned OVER!

who goes this week? There has to be a sacrificial lamb to keep the streak going. I vote for Archer!

I can no longer watch his press conferences. They are obviously too painful for me. I wish somebody would hit Gruden right between the eyes he really makes everyone around him look smarter, he could do that at the Special Olympics.

I think it's time to just cut Deebo loose. He's not really contributing, and that penalty last night was just plain stupid. It's one thing to accept an occasional bonehead penalty from an MVP caliber performer, it's another when it's a role player hanging on. Play the kids and move on once Shazier is back.

Did the press ask the idiot why he did not go fr it on 4th and inches afterall he stupidly said this week we do not ive in our fears.

That was the one WTF moment for me. If Ben can't hurry to the line, snap the ball before they settle and get two feet we don't deserve to win the game anyways. That was a chance to step on their throat and try to end it. I'm not always in favor of it in every situation, but they were reeling at that point and their defense was gassed.

Not to mention, how many times has Ben gotten them to jump offsides with that ploy? They've been trying it for years with very little success.

Thats just another sign of "coach" not knowing what to do. That play was discussed DAYS in advance. Here is the situation Ben, this is what I want you to do. In game "real" time decision, would have been to go for it, with that preverbal foot on their throat.

Instead it is the thumb up his *** trying to pull his head out.

...yeah I yelled that that jump off sides ploy should be stricken from the playbook, just plain tarded. (4th and 1) On our side of the field punt, on their side go for it unless in field goal range or its at the end of the game and you need more than three to tie or win.

On third and short pass enough to get the first down no need to bomb it down the field as well. Keep the chains moving.

two plays that irritate the **** out of me

Speakng of press conferences

Shazier and reserve safety Shamarko Thomas (hamstring) have a “pretty good chance of playing this week,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said at his Tuesday press conference, according to the club.

Did they ask him why he made the dumbass decision to call the timeout at the onside kick? If it wasn't for Palmer bailing his *** out, we'd all be in an ENTIRELY different mood now.

At least MT's pressers are often unintentionally hilarious instead of saying a whole lot of nothing like Coach Chin used to do.

Palmer bailed him out? lol.

Isnt Palmer, a member of the hands team, expected to recover the ball in that situation? Is that not his role? The kick was only close because of DHB's vaseline-infused hands

That entirely misses the point. Why in the hell did he call the timeout? There was absolutely NO reason to do so, and on that first kick, Troy had it cleanly. Then the Texans had a second shot SOLELY because of Tomlin called the time out, and it nearly backfired. So yes, Palmer bailed his *** out. How can you not see that?

I generally oppose the use of timeouts in these situations (on-sides kick, field goals, etc.). Mostly because I feel like they are a waste of time and they can often end up where the time out hurt you (much like it almost did here). That said, during the game, Gruden predicted the timeout call suggesting there was a tactical advantage of doing so. So, at least 2 NFL coaches saw some reason to do so.

I can "feel" his reasoning for the time out........
Coach: Hey Todd, weren't you telling me the Houston Texans needed more practice on their On-sides?
Todd: Yea coach, they need it worse than us, but out "hands" team could use a little
Coach: I'll call a time out, make myself useful for something
Todd: Obviously coach, I'll back you in the press conference too.
Coach: T I M E O U T !!!!!

So as you can see, he did it for the betterment of the "Hands" team. **** those who can't understand this !!!!!

Salute the nation

And I completely disagreed with Gruden on it. I don't see anything to be gained by that.
With this all said, I actually think this game was one of the better coaching jobs by Tomlin overall. He showed at the end of the first half a surprisingly good understanding of clock management. I also saw a little fire from him. I think this game showed that the talent and ability are there to play and coach well, we just need consistency. But that timeout was just completely inexplicable. Thank God it didn't bite us.

You're acting like Tomlin should have known that the first kick was going to be a poor effort that Troy would be able to handle easily. You are judging the decision solely based on hindsight. It's a nonsensical approach.

If not for the TO Troy score on the onside kick. That would have been worth the price of admission.

No, I'm saying there's absolutely no reason to take the timeout! Why give Houston more time to think of a plan of attack. I'll ask again, what positive purpose does the timeout serve? It's NOT the same as icing a kicker on a long field goal attempt. Usually when you give a team a second shot, they have a better chance of being successful. That's common sense.
It has nothing to do with hindsight, I was saying it BEFORE they tried it a second time. Dumb call, no reason for it, and it almost blew up in our face.

But what if there was no timeout and the Texans had recovered onside kick attempt #1? How many people on this board would be criticizing Tomlin for not having his troops prepared to defend it? Whichever way the kick went (middle, left or right), you would have complaints that we were prepared / lined up properly. How much bitching has there been over the years that Tomlin delegates too much, just stands there looking stupid on the sideline? We had a ******* timeout, why not make 100% sure that everyone on the hands team knows what to do? This was the first time we've had to put the hands team out there all season and it included guys like M. Bryant who was appearing in his first NFL game for Christ sake.

I'm done. Your argument is absolutely, pathetically, laughably wrong.

Well, I'm so glad that you're so much smarter than me. No need to be an *** about it. The fact is the first try went nowhere, and the second try almost worked. The fact is the only reason there was a second try is because the Steelers called a timeout. You can stick your head in the sand and say I'm wrong, but those are the facts.
Let's look at common sense here. Is a team more likely to be successful on an onside kick the first try, or the second try after they have more time? Be honest. You still have not given one good reason as to why the timeout was called. Is he going to teach the hands team how to do it right in that 30 seconds? Haven't they been practicing that since training camp?
If Houston would've recovered that second attempt, Tomlin would be being blasted mercilessly for calling that timeout, and rightfully so (just like when Rex Ryan took a stupid timeout that nullified a Geno Smith TD and a potential Jets win earlier this year). Thankfully, that didn't happen, and he'll learn from that.
