Tomlin says Pickins will play against the Bengals

This thread is hilarious. First in the sense the everyone is calling him a cancer. DJ has been just as bad, if not worse and the reaction has not been as volatile.
Second, trying to use Warren's quote, but not the whole quote. He said he understands where he is coming from, he did what was best for him, that people play the game differently, THEN said if he was blocking for George, he'd finish the block.
And lastly, there aren't many players we need to get rid of to make improvements, just the coaching staff. Get an OC that knows how to use THESE players and watch everyone's attitude turn around. None of these guys are used to losing, and everyone knows that even the fans don't listen to Tomlin anymore...

You want to bench the second best option at WR in an 'elimination' game against the Bungals??? He can do time later - we need him this week!!!
Best option when he’s the primary target. When he’s not, someone else willing to do whatever and give effort on every play is the best option.

Pickins is getting torn apart in the sports world, yet Tomlin has chosen to ignore anything this kid has done. At least Warren the only player to say anything that if roles were reversed Warren would have made sure to make that block. The only kid on offense that busts his tail on the field is the only player to say one thing. Say a lot of where our Steelers are.
Yeah they need to cut Jaylen, that attitude could become infectious

What a “try hard”

Nobody likes a “try hard”

Take that to somewhere where they give a crap about winning, that ain’t the standard for Mediocre Mike

Exactly, so we have a guy half assing out there unless the ball is coming his way, how does that guy help you win anything, we've lost 4 of 5 with him on the field already.
Everyone talking about him not blocking on the Warren run, how about him not even trying to tackle the guy on the late INT? Just jogged behind him.

You can lead a horse to water but ya can’t make him drink Mike

Beahahahahaha you effin idiot

Did you see his yesterday’s news conference called to announce the Pickens is playing scenario——- ?

I understand having to play to win, but Coach Tomlin has coached himself into this shiit-hole problem.

Salute the nation

In theory I agree but in practical terms it is not feasible in a league where you are paid to win and only have a limited number of available slots and players. It is not like College.

In reality his punishment will be making far less money when the next contract comes up.
What exactly are we "winning" this year? What exactly have we won the past 7 years? Good thing we put up with behavior from AB, JuJu, DJ, and Pickens or we might not be #winning

you know what, Mr. 500 keeps his record going

How the rest of the team feels? Someone on the roster should have taken Pickens aside and read him the riot act. Especially on the offensive side of the ball. That in itself is a huge problem. The team has no leadership, especially on offense. Even if they did, there's so many players that don't give a rat's ***. They're just collecting - or stealing - a paycheck.

I wonder how Mean Joe, Lambert, Mel Blount... would have handled someone if they'd have pulled a stunt(s) like Pickens did? I wouldn't have wanted to be lined up against them at the next practice - that's for sure!
For some reason, I can see Jones being a leader a couple years down the road. He has that fire in him as well, but he is just a rookie so he's paying his dues. Two years from now, I could see him grabbing Pickens by the jersey and shaking the **** out of him!

Jones knows him from college I’m sure..
Probably told all the guys what a butthole he is….and now it’s not a shock to his Steeler teammates that he’s acting out that way..
Just George being George”
Or as the millennials like to say ..
"You be you”..

Don’t you hate when you hear someone say that?!?

He's a piece of garbage, but let him get away with anything he wants - just how spoiled kids are being created this generation. I bet Pickens was the kid at the grocery store who cried out loud for a candy/toy and his mom gave it to him just to shut him up; seen it 100 times. But now Mom is replaced by Shades is all. Give him that candy, Shades, stop the crying.

😲 The looks on their faces says it all and Shannon lets it rip....."BS 'ing. THAT is the Standard."
IMHO this all started when the "Young Money" bs began. It needed ended then/there, but that didn't happen. The one trick pony Wallace left, AB got paid and that began a slump in character, effort and production from the WR position group.

After those 2, Bryant, Juju, Claypool, DJ and now Pickens have all started strongly then disappointed. The only WR to have any sustained success since then was Emmanuel Sanders, on other teams.

I would ber that #7 and #86 have some strong opinions on this subject.

Gotta side with Mike here. If you bench George and lose a nailbiter you really have an egg on you're head. A bad situation just got worse and the fans are even more livid.
His #1 job as a head coach is to put the best guys on the field, the guys that give you the best chance of winning. period.
He should bench Harris if anyone.

His job is to win a SB...I prefer not cutting off my nose to spite my face. Allowing and now even condoning this behavior is only pushing us further and further away from a SB. This screams of finishing above .500 and no care at all about actually building a team that can win another Lombardi.

He already has egg on his face, his best guys on the field have lost 3 in a row including to two teams with 2 wins.

This made me chuckle. Especially how you assume George's mom (a black mother) would fold to him throwing a public hissy fit as a child - BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Listen, many of the 'on the field antics' are to be blamed, outside of football, by SOCIETY and what WE'VE allowed these kids to be and do. Fact.

No team is perfect - neither are the owners, FOs, coaches, staff and players. NOT ONE. Has this organization been spoiled w/ winning??? ABSOPHUCKINLUTELY...Are we tired of mediocrity and ready to get back to the winning ways of yester years??? Read my newly coined word in the last sentence.

AB was here for nine years and his chyt was, for the most part, kept in the privacy of the locker room. Do you honestly think that DJ and George didn't see this team implode in a few years back??? How about the outright gaudiness of "The Young Money Crew"???

I could go on and on about the root cause of the problem; but the fact is simple - we have entitled these kids from birth ("hey don't talk to my kid/don't discipline my kid") and they turn into MONSTERS by college...

Yeah, this is ALL Coach Tomlin's fault.

At this point in the season, letting George play is the best thing MT can do - for MT's own sake. He's finally in the hotseat it appears, and I think he knows it judging by his latest after-game presser were he seemed a bit solemn.

Exactly....I can't imagine any of the other (already good) teams beginning the season with the idea of just exceeding .500, and I don't think MT has that thought process in the beginning of the year, but for a hundred reasons, it gets screwed up. A lot of it due to arrogance.

Ok Soccer Dad...what do you do when the trading deadline has passed and BOTH starting ILBs go down for the year? Add that Minkah hasn't been on the field and now we've lost Kazee for the remainder of the regular season. Oh...Kenny played like a HS QB for part of the first loss mind you and we KNOW that Mitch is Charles Barkley "turrible"---and the fan-favorite Rudy is chyt coming off the bench.

Again, I ask, what exactly do you think the outcome of these games should have been? Oh, lest we forget, our offensive game plan is for mid-school footballers...

Do you know how you stop entitlement, you quit enabling it, even if it costs you more than you are willing to pay. Every person that enables that culture is to blame. If Tomlin had a 0 tolerance policy and acted and disciplined accordingly, I highly doubt this would have escalated past AB. His handling of AB and subsequently JuJu, Claypool, DJ, and Pickens just continues the policy that if you are good enough, you can behave however you want. So yes, Tomlin is very much to blame for his culture that he condones.

No arguing that for sure. But, MT is the man in charge. It's all just a wreck Berm....
