Tomlin says Pickins will play against the Bengals

Ok Soccer Dad...what do you do when the trading deadline has passed and BOTH starting ILBs go down for the year? Add that Minkah hasn't been on the field and now we've lost Kazee for the remainder of the regular season. Oh...Kenny played like a HS QB for part of the first loss mind you and we KNOW that Mitch is Charles Barkley "turrible"---and the fan-favorite Rudy is chyt coming off the bench.

Again, I ask, what exactly do you think the outcome of these games should have been? Oh, lest we forget, our offensive game plan is for mid-school footballers..
Soccer Dad???? Ok....not sure what your point is.
The offensive game plan is coming from the guy in charge. Yeah you're right, NE wasn't on their 3rd string QB, back up RB, best defensive player. Hell the Colts were missing their top 3 RB's, their QB, their top WR got knocked out. Yeah injuries only effect us.
I was replying to the guy saying you can't bench him because if we lose Tomlin will already have egg on his face. We've lost with Pickens, who cares if we lose without.

You want to bench the second best option at WR in an 'elimination' game against the Bungals??? He can do time later - we need him this week!!!
If it means getting the attention of not only him but some of the other slackers? hell yes I bench him, we ALL know this team is only playing for another non losing season. You have to start making a statement that **** is gonna change. I think it is probably a given that Tomlin will be back next year and if he wants any chance of saving face he needs to stop worrying about non losing seasons and start worrying about getting control of these players.

You missed my point.

I was showing you the blueprint that EVERY remaining opponent will employ on us - attack the middle of the defense.

Oh, you don't play/enjoy soccer anymore???

Finally, the *'s backup QB's are better then our and so was Minshew II. I would dare to say that their OLs are both better than ours too...

Merry Christmas, laddie!!!

Do you know how you stop entitlement, you quit enabling it, even if it costs you more than you are willing to pay. Every person that culture is to blame. If Tomlin had a 0 tolerance policy and acted and disciplined accordingly, I highly doubt this would have escalated past AB. His handling of AB and subsequently JuJu, Claypool, DJ, and Pickens just continues the policy that if you are good enough, you can behave however you want. So yes, Tomlin is very much to blame for his culture that he condones.
That's cool - your opinion that is. Let's not blame society though...that makes less sense, right???

That's been the blueprint for along time, attack the middle, see Bostic trying to cover Keenan Allen, Timmons trying to cover Welker or Hogan etc.

What part of Every Person is to blame was confusing. Blaming society and giving Tomlin a pass is ridiculous. Society can be what it is, the culture within the society of the Steelers organization can be what it chooses to be.

His job is to win a SB...I prefer not cutting off my nose to spite my face. Allowing and now even condoning this behavior is only pushing us further and further away from a SB. This screams of finishing above .500 and no care at all about actually building a team that can win another Lombardi.
Benching George and lowering the odds of victory would be cutting off you're nose to spite you're face. The only way this locker room has a chance in hell of improving this year is with a win. Benching him and losing a close game would really implode the whole thing.
His job is to win a superbowl, no way in hell this team wins another superbowl with the current players or coaches. The rest of the season has zero to do with winning a superbowl. This team could not be further from a championship team.
Personally I'd rather lose out and draft a QB at #10, but from a coaching perspective Tomlin made the right call for him and the team as far a rest of season.

No, winning a game while continuing to allow the behavior on and off the field to continue is cutting your nose off to spite your face. Winning a game will not solve what ails this team, if it were that simple we would not be where we are after starting out 7-4.

So, establishing the correct culture has nothing to do with winning a SB in the future? If you think winning A game is worth more than setting a precedence going forward than you and Tomlin must drink the same kool-aid.

first off - Juju was not the headcase many here think he was. He was not the AB level. Sure, he went the beat of his own drummer, but he didnt take plays off that I recall. I remember him as a dude who busted his *** on every play. He had the occasional drop, but by and large seemed to be a good teammate. Yes, the TikTok bullshit was bullshit that shouldn't have been done and I won't disagree with that. But, he was a player on the field and a good teammate. He was also a kid embracing the social media atmosphere and building a brand for himself. As some dipshit said (@Hines57) he shouldn't have ever gotten a car.

and we're all correct on the current trend of today's players. They're coddled and pushed along as their coaches see the talent they bring to the table and look the other way over their bullsh1t. Pickens was an absolute DOG at Georgia. He's lost as many games this season as he did in his time at UGA, I believe. All this is new ground for many of these kids and they're unsure of how to vent their frustrations.

That said, Tomlin is still responsible for the play on the field. He's being lit up - ironically - in social media, with many saying his seat is getting hot. Which we all know isn't true. It's as hot as the leather in Al Gore's favorite recliner when he's at one of his other 31 homes.

Looking at how Tomlin was able to keep a lid on AB for so long, makes you wonder just how much actual stuff is going on in the locker room and off the field.

oh - and I'll also add this

I watched the Seattle game this past week with Philadelphia. DK Metcalf, a huge headcase by this board's standards, didn't take one play off. Ran every route and blocked like a demon. he is who we wish Pickens will be. But I think Metcalf's internal drive to achieve greatness is more than all of our WRs combined.

There's so much drama surrounding the Steelers it's starting to feel like the Real Housewives of Allegheny County.

Having that nostalgia feeling for the AB Days again.

😲 The looks on their faces says it all and Shannon lets it rip....."BS 'ing. THAT is the Standard."
No more "standard is the standard." You can do whatever you want, you can bull jive, drop passes, whatever.

Gotta side with Mike here. If you bench George and lose a nailbiter you really have an egg on you're head. A bad situation just got worse and the fans are even more livid.
His #1 job as a head coach is to put the best guys on the field, the guys that give you the best chance of winning. period.
He should bench Harris if anyone.
So provide zero discipline on the team? Well, he's already there.

This made me chuckle. Especially how you assume George's mom (a black mother) would fold to him throwing a public hissy fit as a child - BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Why does that make you laugh?

The overriding concern, obviously, is Shades keeping his +.500 record streak going. Pickens could take **** on Shades’ desk and he’d still play because he gives them the best chance to win.

That's cool - your opinion that is. Let's not blame society though...that makes less sense, right???
So it's society that's to blame for our out-of-control, undisciplined team then? Who knew? Here I thought the head coach had some control of the team? I guess not in this case; it's society's fault, got it.

Go back and read my post. I did NOT give Coach Tomlin a pass, Spanky...

I paint you the big picture - you choose to look at one part of it.

Much better than @Mean Joe Bradshaw crapping in the gravy boat....Sorry, it made me laugh when he said that. It still does. :ROFLMAO:

I chose to "look at it" in terms of the football team; you chose to look at it in terms of a macrocosm of the total society. Is this board named: "The Steelers and today's modern society?" I don't know, I just went nuts and looked on a microcosm-level of just the team. [shrugs shoulders] And you did me the favor of taking my analogy to a racist level. Thanks, how did you know that is what I was picturing in my head? That's some real skill you got there. I couldn't have been thinking of a child acting up in a store of any race; you made sure to make it only apply to a black mother. Kudos. You created a racist scenario when there wasn't any. You knew I was being racial when I didn't even realize it myself. How very skilled.

He allowed AB to stay off campus at training camp, I think alot of AB's stuff was kept under lid because for the most part we were winning then. I mean look what happened the few times Ben wasn't in there, AB was bitching about not getting the ball enough after a win vs Arizona.
